1 ¶ Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,

2 A nnas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came upon John the son of Zachariah in the wilderness.

при първосвещенството на Анна и Каяфа, Божието слово дойде до Йоан, Захариевия син, в пустинята.

3 A nd he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;

И той обикаляше по цялата страна около Йордан и проповядваше кръщение на покаяние за прощаване на греховете,

4 a s it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord; make his paths straight.

както е писано в книгата с думите на пророк Исая: "Глас на един, който вика в пустинята: Пригответе пътя за Господа, прави направете пътеките Му.

5 E very valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low, and the crooked ways shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;

Всяка долина ще се напълни. И всяка планина и хълм ще се сниши; кривите пътеки ще станат прави. И неравните места - гладки пътища;

6 a nd all flesh shall see the saving health of God.

и всеки човек ще види Божието спасение."

7 T hen said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who taught you to flee from the wrath to come?

И така, той казваше на множествата, които идваха да се кръщават при него: Рожби ехиднини! Кой ви предупреди да бягате от идващия гняв?

8 B ring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham for our father; for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

Тогава принасяйте плодове, достойни за покаяние; и не почвайте да си мислите: Имаме Авраам за баща. Защото ви казвам, че Бог може и от тези камъни да издигне чеда на Авраам.

9 A nd now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees; every tree therefore which does not bring forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire.

А и брадвата лежи вече при корена на дърветата; и така, всяко дърво, което не дава добър плод, се отсича и се хвърля в огън.

10 A nd the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?

И множествата го питаха: Тогава какво да правим?

11 H e answered and said unto them, He that has two coats, let him impart to him that has none; and he that has food, let him do likewise.

А той им отговори: Който има две ризи, нека даде едната на този, който няма; и който има храна, нека прави същото.

12 T hen the publicans also came to be baptized and said unto him, Master, what shall we do?

Дойдоха и бирниците да се кръстят и му казаха: Учителю, ние какво да правим?

13 A nd he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you.

Той им отвърна: Не изисквайте нищо повече от това, което ви е определено.

14 A nd the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Oppress no one, neither accuse anyone falsely; and be content with your wages.

Питаха го и военнослужещи: А ние какво да правим? Каза им: Не насилвайте никого, нито наклеветявайте; и се задоволявайте със заплатите си.

15 ¶ And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not,

И понеже хората бяха в недоумение и всички размишляваха в сърцата си за Йоан, да не би той да е Христос,

16 J ohn answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you in water, but one mightier than I comes, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose; he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire;

Йоан отговори на всички: Аз ви кръщавам с вода, но иде Онзи, Който е по-силен от мене, на Когото не съм достоен да развържа ремъка на сандалите Му; Той ще ви кръсти със Святия Дух и с огън.

17 w hose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his threshing floor and will gather the wheat into his storehouse, but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.

Той държи лопатата в ръката Си, за да очисти добре хармана Си и да събере житото в житницата Си; а плявата ще изгори в неугасимия огън.

18 A nd exhorting many other things he announced the gospel unto the people.

И с много други увещания той благовестяваше на народа.

19 T hen Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip’s wife and for all the evils which Herod had done,

А четвъртовластникът Ирод, който беше изобличаван от него заради Иродиада, жената на брат си, и поради всички други злини, които беше сторил Ирод,

20 a dded yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.

прибави към всичко друго и това, че затвори Йоан в тъмница. Кръщението на Исус Христос

21 ¶ Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass that, Jesus also being baptized and praying, the heaven was opened,

И когато се кръсти целият народ, и когато и Исус се кръсти и се молеше, небето се отвори

22 a nd the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee is my delight.

и Святият Дух слезе върху Него в телесен образ като гълъб, който казваше: Ти си Моят възлюбен Син; в Теб е Моето благоволение. Родословието на Исус Христос

23 A nd Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, who was the son of Heli,

И сам Исус беше на около тридесет години, когато започна служението Си, и както мислеха, беше син на Йосиф, който беше син на Илий.

24 w ho was the son of Matthat, who was the son of Levi, who was the son of Melchi, who was the son of Janna, who was the son of Joseph,

А Илий - на Матат; Матат - на Левий; Левий - на Мелхий; Мелхий - на Яанай; Яанай - на Йосиф;

25 w ho was the son of Mattathias, who was the son of Amos, who was the son of Naum, who was the son of Esli, who was the son of Nagge,

26 w ho was the son of Maath, who was the son of Mattathias, who was the son of Semei, who was the son of Joseph, who was the son of Juda,
