1 ¶ Hear ye now what the LORD saith: Arise, contend thou with the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.

Слушайте сега какво казва Господ. Стани, ми казва Той, съди се пред планините и нека хълмовете чуят гласа ти, като им кажеш:

2 H ear ye, O mountains, the LORD’s controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth; for the LORD has a controversy with his people, and he will reprove Israel.

Планини и вие, твърди основи на земята, слушайте спора Господен; защото Господ има спор с народа Си и ще се съди с Израел.

3 O my people, what have I done unto thee? and in what have I wearied thee? testify against me.

Народе Мой, какво ви сторих? И с какво ви досадих? Заявявайте против Мене.

4 F or I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt and ransomed thee out of the house of slaves; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

Защото Аз ви изведох от Египетската земя, избавих ви от дома на робството и пратих пред вас Моисей, Аарон и Мариам.

5 O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal: that ye may know the righteousness of the LORD.

Народе Мой, спомнете си сега какво възнамеряваше моавският цар Валак и какво му отговори Валаам, Веоровият син; спомнете си всичко, станало между Ситим и Галгал, за да познаете справедливите дела Господни.

6 ¶ With what shall I present myself before the LORD, and how shall I worship the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?

С какво да дойда пред Господа и да се поклоня пред Всевишния Бог? Да дойда ли пред Него с всеизгаряния, с едногодишни телета?

7 W ill the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my rebellion, the fruit of my bowels for the sin of my soul?

Ще благоволи ли Господ в хиляди овни или в десетки хиляди реки от масло? Да дам ли първородния си за престъплението си, плода на утробата си - за греха на душата си?

8 H e has declared unto thee, O man, what is good and what the LORD requires of thee: only to do right judgment, and to love mercy, and to humble thyself to walk with thy God.

Той ти е показал, човече, какво е доброто; и какво иска Господ от тебе: не е ли да вършиш праведното, да обичаш милост и да ходиш смирено със своя Бог?

9 ¶ The LORD’s voice cries out unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy name: hear ye the rod, and he who has established it.

Гласът Господен вика към града и мъдрият човек ще се бои от Името Ти; слушайте тоягата и Онзи, Който я е определил.

10 A re there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked and the scant measure that is abominable?

Намират ли се още съкровищата, спечелени с нечестие, в дома на нечестивия, както и омразната недостатъчна мярка?

11 C an I be pure with false balances and with a bag of deceitful weights?

Да оправдая ли града, където има неточни везни и кесия с измамливи грамове?

12 W ith which their rich men are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

Защото богаташите му са пълни с насилие, жителите му лъжат и езикът в устата им е измамлив.

13 T herefore I have also made thee weak in smiting thee, in making thee desolate because of thy sins.

Затова и Аз, като те поразих с люта рана, ще те запустя поради греховете ти.

14 T hou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt take, but shalt not be saved; and that which thou dost save, I will give it up to the sword.

Ще ядеш, но няма да се насищаш и гладуването ти ще остане във вътрешностите ти; ще прибереш стоките си, но няма да ги отнесеш и каквото отнесеш, ще го предам на меч.

15 T hou shalt sow, but thou shalt not reap; thou shalt tread the olives, but thou shalt not anoint thee with the oil; and sweet wine, but shalt not drink the wine.

Ти ще сееш, но няма да жънеш; ще изстискаш маслини, но няма да се мажеш с масло; ще изстискаш и гроздовата беритба, но няма да пиеш вино.

16 F or the statutes of Omri have been kept and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye have walked in their counsels that I should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof a hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.

Защото се опазват наредбите на Амрий и всички дела на Ахаавовия дом и постъпвате според техните мъдрувания; затова ще те предам на погибел и жителите ти - на освиркване; и вие ще носите укора, произнесен против народа Ми.
