1 ¶ After these things and after this faithfulness, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities and thought to break them up.

След тези неща и това проявление на вярност асирийският цар Сенахирим дойде и влезе в Юдея, и разположи стана си против укрепените градове, като намисли да ги превземе.

2 A nd when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,

А Езекия, като видя, че Сенахирим дойде и че намерението му беше да воюва против Йерусалим,

3 h e took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which were outside the city, and they helped him.

се посъветва с първенците си и със силните си мъже да запълни водните извори, които бяха вън от града; и те му помогнаха.

4 S o many people gathered together, and they stopped up all the fountains and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come and find much water?

И като се събра много народ, запълниха всички извори и потока, който течеше сред земята, защото казваха: Асирийските царе, като дойдат, защо да намерят много вода?

5 A lso he strengthened himself and built up all the wall that was broken and caused the towers to be raised up, and another wall outside, and repaired Millo in the city of David, and made swords and shields in abundance.

Езекия се ободри и съгради пак цялата стена, която беше съборена, направи кулите ѝ по-високи, съгради и другата стена отвън и поправи Мило в Давидовия град, и направи много копия и щитове.

6 A nd he set captains of war over the people and gathered them together to him in the plaza of the gate of the city and spoke unto their heart, saying,

Царят постави военачалници над народа и като ги събра при себе си на площада, при градската порта, им говорѝ насърчително:

7 B e strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria nor for all the multitude that is with him, for there are more with us than with him.

Бъдете силни и храбри, не бойте се, нито се плашете от асирийския цар, нито от голямото множество, което е с него; защото с нас има Един по-велик, отколкото има с него.

8 W ith him is an arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles. And the people were upheld by the words of Hezekiah, king of Judah.

С него са плътски мишци; с нас е Господ, нашият Бог, да ни помогне и да воюва в боевете ни. И народът се успокои от думите на Юдейския цар Езекия.

9 ¶ After this Sennacherib, king of Assyria, sent his slaves to Jerusalem (but he himself laid siege against Lachish, and all his power with him) unto Hezekiah king of Judah, and unto all Judah that were at Jerusalem, saying,

След това асирийският цар Сенахирим прати слугите си в Йерусалим (а той и всичките му военачалници с него обсаждаха Лахис) до Юдейския цар Езекия и до цяла Юдея, които бяха в Йерусалим, да кажат:

10 T hus hath said Sennacherib, king of Assyria, In whom do ye trust that ye abide in the siege in Jerusalem?

Така казва асирийският цар Сенахирим: На какво се надявате и чакате в Йерусалим обсадата му?

11 D oes not Hezekiah deceive you to give yourselves over to die by famine and by thirst, saying, The LORD our God shall deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

Не ви ли мами Езекия и ще ви предаде на смърт от глад и жажда, като казва: Господ, нашият Бог, ще ни избави от ръката на асирийския цар?

12 H as not the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar and burn incense upon it?

Езекия не е ли същият, който махна Неговите високи места и Неговите жертвеници и заповяда на Юдея и Йерусалим: Само пред един жертвеник да се кланяте и върху него да кадите?

13 H ave ye not known what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of other lands? Could peradventure the gods of the Gentiles of those lands deliver their lands out of my hand?

Не знаете ли какво сторих аз и бащите ми на всички племена на земите? Можаха ли боговете на народите на тези земи да избавят някак земята си от ръката ми?

14 W ho was there among all the gods of those Gentiles that my fathers utterly destroyed that could deliver his people out of my hands? Why should your God be able to deliver you out of my hand?

Кой от всички богове на онези народи, които бащите ми изтребиха, е могъл да избави народа си от ръката ми, за да може вашият Бог да ви избави от ръката ми?

15 N ow, therefore, do not let Hezekiah deceive you nor persuade you in this matter neither believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hands and out of the hands of my fathers; how much less shall your God deliver you out of my hand?

И така, сега да не ви мами Езекия и да не ви убеждава по този начин, и не му вярвайте; защото никой бог, на който и да било народ или царство, не е могъл да избави народа си от моята ръка и от ръката на бащите ми - че вашият Бог ли ще може да ви избави от ръката ми?

16 A nd his slaves spoke yet more against the LORD God and against his slave Hezekiah.

И слугите му говориха още повече против Господа Бога и против слугата Му Езекия.

17 I n addition to this, he wrote letters that blasphemed the LORD God of Israel and spoke against him, saying, As the gods of the Gentiles of other lands could not deliver their people out of my hand, neither shall the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of my hand.

Той писа и писма да хули Господа, Израелевия Бог, и да говори против Него, като казваше: Както боговете на народите на тези земи не избавиха своите народи от ръката ми, така и Езекиевият Бог няма да избави Своя народ от ръката ми.

18 T hen they cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ speech unto the people of Jerusalem that were on the wall, to make them afraid and to trouble them, that they might take the city.

Тогава извикаха на юдейски със силен глас към йерусалимския народ, който беше на стената, за да ги уплашат и да ги смутят, за да превземат града;

19 A nd they spoke against the God of Jerusalem as against the gods of the peoples of the earth, which were the work of the hands of man.

и говориха за йерусалимския Бог, както за боговете на племената на света, които са дело на човешки ръце.

20 A nd for this cause Hezekiah, the king, and the prophet Isaiah, the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.

Затова цар Езекия и пророк Исая, Амосовият син, се помолиха и викаха към небето.

21 A nd the LORD sent an angel who cut off all the mighty men of valour and the captains and the princes in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And as he entered into the house of his god, those that had come forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword.

Тогава Господ прати ангел, който погуби всичките силни и храбри мъже и първенците, и военачалниците в стана на асирийския цар. Така той се върна с посрамено лице в земята си. И когато влезе в светилището на бога си, тези, които бяха излезли от чреслата му, го убиха там с меч.

22 T hus, the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hands of Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, and from the hands of all others and guided them concerning everything.

Така Господ избави Езекия и йерусалимските жители от ръката на асирийския цар Сенахирим и от ръката на всички други и ги ръководеше на всяка страна.

23 A nd many brought a present unto the LORD to Jerusalem and precious gifts unto Hezekiah, king of Judah, so that he was magnified in the sight of all the Gentiles from then on.

Мнозина донесоха дарове на Господа в Йерусалим и скъпоценности на Юдейския цар Езекия; така че оттогава нататък той се възвеличаваше пред всички народи. Край на царуването на Езекия

24 ¶ In those days Hezekiah was sick unto the death and prayed to the LORD, who responded to him and gave him a sign.

В това време Езекия се разболя до смърт; и като се помоли на Господа, Той му говорѝ и му даде знамение.

25 B ut Hezekiah did not render again according to the benefit done unto him, for his heart lifted itself up; therefore there was wrath against him and against Judah and Jerusalem.

Но Езекия не отдаде на Господа според стореното му благодеяние, защото сърцето му се надигна; затова гняв падна върху него и Юдея и Йерусалим.

26 N otwithstanding, Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD did not come upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

Обаче Езекия се смири поради надигането на сърцето си, той и йерусалимските жители, така че Господният гняв не дойде върху тях в Езекиевите дни.

27 A nd Hezekiah had exceedingly great riches and honour, and he made himself treasures of silver and of gold and of precious stones and of spices and of shields and of all manner of pleasant vessels,

И Езекия придоби много голямо богатство и слава; и направи съкровищници за сребро и злато, за скъпоценни камъни, за аромати, за щитове и за всякакви отбрани вещи,

28 s torehouses also for the increase of grain and wine and oil and stalls for all manner of beasts and places for cattle.

също и житници за произведението на житото, на виното и на дървеното масло и обори за всякакви животни и огради за стада.

29 M oreover, he made himself cities and possessions of sheep and cows in abundance, for God had given him great substance.

При това той си направи градове и придоби множество овце и говеда; защото Бог му даваше твърде много имот.

30 T his same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah was prospered in all that he did.

Същият този Езекия запълни и горния извор на водата на Гион и я отведе направо долу, на запад от Давидовия град. Така Езекия успя във всичките си дела.

31 H owever, because of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to enquire of the wonder that had happened in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.

Но относно посланиците, които вавилонските първенци пратиха до него да разпитат за знамението, станало в страната, Бог го остави, за да го изпита и да узнае всичко, което беше в сърцето му.

32 N ow the rest of the acts of Hezekiah and his mercy, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, and in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

А останалите дела на Езекия и добрините му са записани във Видението на пророк Исая, Амосовия син, и в Книгата на Юдейските и Израелевите царе.

33 A nd Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the chiefest of the sepulchres of the sons of David; and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honour at his death. And Manasseh, his son, reigned in his stead.

И Езекия заспа с бащите си и го погребаха в най-видния от гробовете на Давидовите потомци; и цяла Юдея и йерусалимските жители му отдадоха почест при смъртта му. А вместо него се възцари синът му Манасия.
