1 ¶ Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus (this is Ahasuerus who reigned from India even unto Ethiopia over one hundred and twenty-seven provinces)

А в дните на Асуир (онзи Асуир, който царуваше от Индия чак до Етиопия над сто двадесет и седем области),

2 T hat in those days, when the king Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Shushan, the palace,

в онези дни, когато цар Асуир беше седнал на престола на царството си в столицата Суса,

3 I n the third year of his reign, he made a banquet unto all his princes and his slaves, having before him the power of Persia and Media, the governors and princes of the provinces, ‘

в третата година от царуването си той направи угощение на всичките си първенци и на служителите си (като пред него бяха най-силните персийски и мидийски мъже, големците и първенците на областите),

4 t o show them the riches of the glory of his kingdom and the honour of beauty of his greatness for many days, even one hundred and eighty days.

когато за дълго време, сто и осемдесет дни, показваше богатството на славното си царство и блясъка на превъзходното си величие.

5 A nd when these days were expired, the king made a banquet unto all the people that were present in Shushan the palace, both unto great and small, for seven days, in the court of the garden of the king’s palace.

И когато се изминаха тези дни, царят направи седемдневно угощение на целия народ, който се намираше в столицата Суса, от голям до малък, в двора на градината на царския палат,

6 T here were white, green, and blue hangings, fastened with cords of fine linen and purple to silver rings and pillars of marble; the beds were of gold and silver, upon a pavement of porphyre and of marble and of alabaster and of blue.

който беше украсил със завеси от бял, зелен и син плат, прострени на висонени и морави върви, окачени със сребърни колелца на мраморни стълбове, и със златни и сребърни канапета върху настилка от порфир и от бял мрамор, от алабастър и от черен мрамор.

7 A nd they gave them drink in vessels of gold (the vessels being diverse one from another) and royal wine in abundance, according to the power of the king.

И им наливаха в златни чаши (като чашите бяха различни едни от други); и имаше изобилно царско вино, както подобаваше на царя.

8 A nd the drink was according to this law: let no one constrain themselves; for so the king had appointed to all the officers of his house that they should do according to the will of each one.

А пиенето ставаше според една издадена заповед, че никой не бива да принуждава, защото царят беше заповядал така на всичките си домоуправители, да постъпват според волята на всеки.

9 L ikewise Vashti, the queen, made a banquet for the women in the royal house of King Ahasuerus.

Царица Астин също направи на жените угощение в царската къща на цар Асуир.

10 ¶ On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, the seven eunuchs that served in the presence of Ahasuerus, the king,

А на седмия ден, когато сърцето на царя се беше развеселило от виното, той заповяда на Меуман, на Визат, на Арвона, на Вигт, на Авагт, на Зетар и на Харкас, седемте евнуси, които слугуваха пред цар Асуир,

11 t o bring Vashti, the queen, before the king with the crown of the kingdom, to show the people and the princes her beauty, for she was fair to behold.

да доведат царица Астин пред царя, носеща царската корона, за да покаже хубостта ѝ на народа и първенците; защото тя беше красива наглед.

12 B ut Queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s word by his eunuchs; therefore, the king was very wroth, and his anger burned in him.

Но царица Астин отказа да дойде по царската заповед чрез евнусите; затова царят се разяри твърде много и гневът му пламна в него.

13 T hen the king asked the wise men, who knew the times, (for so was the king’s manner toward all that knew about the law and rights,

Тогава царят каза на мъдреците, които познаваха времената (защото царят имаше обичай така да се отнася с всички, които знаеха закон и съд;

14 a nd the next to him was Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, seven princes of Persia and Media, who saw the king’s face, and who sat first in the kingdom;)

а втори след него бяха Карсена, Сетар, Адмата, Тарсис, Мерес, Марсена и Мемукан, седемте персийски и мидийски първенци, които имаха достъп при царя и заемаха първо място в царството):

15 W hat shall we do unto Queen Vashti according to law because she has not performed the decree of King Ahasuerus by the eunuchs?

Какво можем според закона да направим на царица Астин за това, че не изпълни заповедта на цар Асуир чрез евнусите?

16 A nd Memucan answered before the king and the princes, Vashti, the queen, has not only committed iniquity against the king, but also against all the princes and against all the people that are in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus.

И Мемукан отговори пред царя и първенците: Царица Астин не е обидила само царя, но и всички първенци и всички племена, които са по всички области на цар Асуир.

17 F or this deed of the queen shall be known abroad unto all the women so that they shall despise their husbands, saying, King Ahasuerus commanded Vashti, the queen, to be brought in before him, but she did not come.

Защото тази постъпка на царицата ще се разчуе между всички жени, така че, когато се разнесе слух, че цар Асуир заповядал да се доведе царица Астин пред него, а тя не дошла, това ще направи мъжете им презрени пред очите им.

18 A nd now the princesses of Persia and Media who have heard of the deed of the queen shall say this unto all the king’s princes, and there shall be much contempt and wrath.

И днес персийските и мидийските съпруги, които ще са чули за постъпката на царицата, ще говорят по същия начин на всички царски първенци; и от това ще произлезе голямо презрение и гняв.

19 I f it pleases the king, let there go forth a royal commandment from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it not be altered, That Vashti come no more before King Ahasuerus, and let the king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she.

Ако е угодно на царя, нека бъде издадена от него царска заповед, която да се впише между персийските и мидийските закони, за да не се отменя, според която Астин да не идва вече пред цар Асуир; и царят нека даде царското ѝ достойнство на друга, по-добра от нея.

20 A nd this sentence which the king shall make shall be heard throughout all his empire, although it is great, and all the wives shall give their husbands honour, from the greatest to the least.

И когато указът, който царят ще издаде, бъде обнародван по цялото му царство (защото е голямо), всички жени ще отдават чест на мъжете си, на голям и на малък.

21 A nd this word pleased the king and the princes, and the king did according to the word of Memucan;

Тези думи се харесаха на царя и първенците; и царят направи според каквото каза Мемукан.

22 f or he sent letters into all the king’s provinces, into every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language, saying, That every man should bear rule in his own house and that it should be published according to the language of every people.

Той прати писма по всички царски области, във всяка област според азбуката ѝ и на всеки народ според езика му, за да може всеки мъж да бъде господар в дома си и в него да говори на езика на народа си.
