1 ¶ Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David, but David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.

Войната между Сауловия дом и Давидовия дом продължи дълго време; и Давид непрестанно се усилваше, а Сауловият дом непрестанно отслабваше.

2 A nd sons were born unto David in Hebron; and his firstborn was Amnon, of Ahinoam, the Jezreelitess;

На Давид се родиха синове в Хеврон. Първородният му беше Амнон, от езраелката Ахиноам.

3 a nd his second, Chileab, of Abigail who had been the wife of Nabal of Carmel; and the third, Absalom, the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai, king of Geshur;

Вторият му - Хилеав, от Авигея, бившата жена на кармилеца Навал. Третият - Авесалом, син на Мааха, дъщеря на гесурския цар Талмай.

4 a nd the fourth, Adonijah, the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah, the son of Abital;

Четвъртият - Адония, син на Агита. Петият - Сефатия, син на Авитала.

5 a nd the sixth, Ithream, by Eglah, David’s wife. These were born to David in Hebron.

И шестият - Итраам, от Давидовата жена Егла. Тези синове се родиха на Давид в Хеврон.

6 A nd it came to pass while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner made himself strong for the house of Saul.

А докато продължаваше войната между Сауловия дом и Давидовия дом, Авенир поддържаше Сауловия дом.

7 ¶ And Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah. And Ishbosheth said to Abner, Why hast thou gone in unto my father’s concubine?

Саул имаше наложница на име Ресфа, дъщеря на Айя. Исвостей каза на Авенир: Ти защо си лежал с бащината ми наложница?

8 T hen Abner was very angry for the words of Ishbosheth and said, Am I a dog’s head in regard to Judah? I have shown mercy this day unto the house of Saul, thy father, to his brethren, and to his friends and have not delivered thee into the hand of David that thou dost charge me today with iniquity concerning this woman?

Тогава Авенир много се разяри от думите на Исвостей и отговори: Кучешка глава ли съм аз откъм Юдовата страна? Днес показах благост към дома на баща ти Саул, към братята му и към приятелите му, като не те предадох в Давидовата ръка, и въпреки това ме обвиняваш днес за тази жена!

9 L et God do to Abner and more also unless, as the LORD has sworn to David, so do I unto him,

Така да стори Бог с Авенир - да! - и повече да му прибави, ако не сторя за Давид, както Господ му се е клел,

10 t o translate the kingdom from the house of Saul and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah from Dan even to Beersheba.

като направя да премине царството от Сауловия дом и като поставя Давидовия престол над Израел, както е и над Юда, от Дан до Вирсавее.

11 A nd he could not answer Abner a word again because he feared him.

И Исвостей не можеше вече да каже нито дума на Авенир, понеже се боеше от него.

12 A nd Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose is the land? And that they should also say, Make thy covenant with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with thee, to bring about all Israel unto thee.

Тогава Авенир изпрати хора до Давид да кажат от негово име: Чия е земята? Съобщението гласеше още: Сключи договор с мен; и, ето, моята ръка ще бъде с тебе, така че да доведа под твоята власт целия Израел.

13 A nd he said, Good; I will make a covenant with thee, but one thing I require of thee, that is, Thou shalt not see my face except thou first bring Michal, Saul’s daughter, when thou comest to see my face.

А Давид отговори: Добре, аз ще сключа договор с тебе. Но едно нещо искам аз от тебе: няма да видиш лицето ми, ако не доведеш предварително Сауловата дъщеря Михала, когато дойдеш да ме видиш.

14 A fter this, David sent messengers to Ishbosheth, Saul’s son, saying, Deliver me my wife Michal, which I espoused to me for one hundred foreskins of the Philistines.

И Давид прати хора до Сауловия син Исвостей да му кажат: Предай жена ми Михала, която съм взел за жена срещу сто филистимски краекожия.

15 S o Ishbosheth sent and took her from her husband, even from Phaltiel, the son of Laish.

И така, Исвостей прати и я взе от мъжа ѝ Фалатиил, Лаисовия син.

16 A nd her husband went with her along weeping behind her to Bahurim. Then Abner said unto him, Go, return. And he returned.

Мъжът ѝ дойде с нея и като вървеше, плачеше и я последва до Ваурим. Тогава Авенир му каза: Иди, върни се; и той се върна.

17 A nd Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying, Ye sought for David in times past to be king over you;

А Авенир влезе във връзка с Израелевите старейшини и каза: В миналото вие сте искали Давид да царува над вас;

18 n ow then do it, for the LORD has spoken of David, saying, By the hand of my slave David I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines and out of the hand of all their enemies.

сега направете това, защото Господ е говорил за Давид: Чрез ръката на слугата Си Давид ще избавя народа Си от ръката на филистимците и от ръката на всичките им неприятели

19 A nd Abner also spoke in the ears of Benjamin, and Abner went also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel and that seemed good to the whole house of Benjamin.

Авенир говорѝ още и на вениаминците. Също Авенир отиде да говори и с Давид в Хеврон всичко, което беше угодно на Израел и на целия Вениаминов дом.

20 S o Abner came to David to Hebron and twenty men with him. And David made a banquet for Abner and the men that were with him.

И така, Авенир дойде при Давид в Хеврон заедно с двадесет мъже. И Давид направи угощение за Авенир и за мъжете, които бяха с него.

21 A nd Abner said unto David, I will arise and go and will gather all Israel unto my lord the king that they may make a covenant with thee and that thou may reign over all that thy heart desires. And David sent Abner away, and he went in peace.

Тогава Авенир каза на Давид: Ще отида и ще събера целия Израел при господаря си, царя, за да сключат завет с теб и да царуваш над всички според желанието на душата си. И Давид изпрати Авенир и той отиде с мир.

22 ¶ And, behold, the slaves of David and Joab came from pursuing a troop and brought in a great spoil with them. But Abner was not with David in Hebron, for he had sent him away, and he was gone in peace.

А Давидовите слуги и Йоав идваха от едно нашествие и носеха със себе си голяма плячка; но Авенир не беше с Давид в Хеврон, защото Давид го беше изпратил и Авенир си беше отишъл с мир.

23 W hen Joab and all the host that was with him were come, they told Joab, saying, Abner, the son of Ner, came to the king, and he has sent him away, and he is gone in peace.

След като Йоав дойде заедно с цялата войска, която беше с него, известиха на Йоав, че Авенир, Нировият син, е идвал при царя; и той го е изпратил и Авенир си е отишъл с мир.

24 T hen Joab came to the king and said, What hast thou done? Behold, Abner came unto thee; why is it that thou hast let him go?

Тогава Йоав влезе при царя и каза: Какво си направил? Авенир е идвал при тебе! Защо си го пуснал да си отиде?

25 D ost thou not know that Abner, the son of Ner, came to deceive thee, and to know thy going out and thy coming in and to know all that thou doest?

Знаеш какъв е Авенир, Нировият син. Той е идвал, за да те измами, да научи влизането ти и излизането ти и да научи всичко, което правиш.

26 A nd when Joab was come out from David, he sent messengers after Abner, who caused him to return from the well of Sirah, but David did not know it.

И Йоав, като излезе от Давид, прати хора след Авенир, които го върнаха от кладенеца Сира. Давид обаче не знаеше това.

27 A nd when Abner had returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly and smote him there under the fifth rib that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.

И когато Авенир се върна в Хеврон, Йоав го отведе настрана в портата, уж за да му говори тайно. Там го удари в корема за кръвта на брат си Асаил. И Авенир умря.

28 A nd afterward when David heard it, he said, I and my kingdom are guiltless before the LORD for ever from the blood of Abner, the son of Ner.

А по-късно Давид, като разбра за това, каза: Невинен съм, аз и царството ми, пред Господа до века за кръвта на Авенир, Нировия син.

29 L et it rest on the head of Joab and on all his father’s house and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that has an issue or that is a leper or that leans on a staff or that dies by the sword or that lacks bread.

Нека тя остане на Йоавовата глава и на целия му бащин дом. Нека не липсва от Йоавовия дом такъв, който има семетечение или е прокажен, или който се подпира на тояга, или пада от меч, или е лишен от хляб.

30 S o Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner because he had slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.

Така Йоав и брат му Ависей убиха Авенир, защото беше убил брат им Асаил в сражението при Гаваон.

31 T hen David said to Joab and to all the people that were with him, Rend your clothes and gird yourselves with sackcloth and mourn before Abner. And King David himself followed the bier.

Тогава Давид каза на Йоав и на целия народ, който беше с него: Раздерете дрехите си и се препашете с вретище, за да плачете пред носилката с Авенир. И цар Давид вървеше след носилката.

32 A nd they buried Abner in Hebron, and the king lifted up his voice and wept at the grave of Abner, and all the people wept.

Погребаха Авенир в Хеврон; и царят плака силно над Авенировия гроб заедно с целия народ.

33 A nd the king lamented over Abner and said, Abner died the death of a fool!

Царят плака над Авенир и каза: Трябваше ли Авенир да умре, както умира безумният?

34 T hy hands were not bound nor thy feet put into fetters. Thou didst fall as a man falls before wicked men. And all the people wept again over him.

Ръцете ти не бяха вързани, нито краката ти - сложени в окови. Както човек пада пред тези, които вършат неправда, така падна и ти. И целият народ плака дълго над него.

35 A nd when all the people came to cause David to eat food while it was yet day, David swore, saying, So do God to me, and more also if I taste bread or anything else until the sun is down.

После целият народ дойде, за да предложат на Давид да се нахрани, докато още беше светло; но Давид се закле, като каза: Така да ми направи Бог - да! - и повече да прибави, ако вкуся хляб или каквото и да било, преди да залезе слънцето.

36 A nd all the people understood, and it pleased them, for whatever the king did pleased all the people.

И целият народ научи за това и го одобри, както одобряваха и всичко останало, което царят правеше.

37 F or all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to slay Abner, the son of Ner.

Защото в онзи ден целият народ и целият Израел разбраха, че не беше заповядано от царя да бъде убит Авенир, Нировият син.

38 T hen the king said unto his slaves, Do ye not know that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel?

А царят каза на слугите си: Знайте, че велик военачалник падна днес в Израел!

39 A nd I am this day a tender anointed king, and these men the sons of Zeruiah are too hard for me; the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.

Днес аз съм слаб, въпреки че съм помазан за цар; а тези мъже, Саруините синове, са много жестоки за мене. Господ да въздаде на злодееца според злодеянието му.
