1 ¶ Where do the wars and disputes come from among you? From here that is to say, of your lusts which fight in your members?

Откъде произлизат боеве и откъде - препирни, между вас? Не е ли оттам - от вашите сладострастия, които воюват в телесните ви части?

2 Y e covet and have not; ye murder, and have envy and cannot obtain; ye fight and war and have not that which ye desire because ye ask not.

Пожелавате, но нямате; ревнувате и завиждате, но не можете да получите; карате се и се биете; но нямате, защото не просите.

3 Y e ask and receive not because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your pleasures.

Просите и не получавате, защото зле просите, за да пилеете във вашите сладострастия.

4 Y e adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore that desires to be a friend of the world, makes himself the enemy of God.

Прелюбодейци! Не знаете ли, че приятелството със света е вражда против Бога? И тъй, който иска да бъде приятел на света, става враг на Бога.

5 D o ye think that the scripture says in vain, The spirit that dwells in us lusts to envy?

Или мислите, че без нужда казва Писанието, че "Бог и до завист ревнува за духа, който е вселил в нас"?

6 B ut he gives greater grace. Therefore he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble.

Но Той дава една по-голяма благодат; затова казва: "Бог на горделивите се противи, а на смирените дава благодат."

7 S ubmit yourselves, therefore, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

И така, покорявайте се на Бога, но се противете на дявола и той ще бяга от вас.

8 D raw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Приближавайте се към Бога и Той ще се приближава към вас. Измивайте ръцете си, вие, грешни, и очиствайте сърцата си, вие, колебливи.

9 B e afflicted and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to heaviness.

Тъжете, ридайте и плачете; смехът ви нека се обърне на плач и радостта ви в тъга.

10 H umble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Смирявайте се пред Господа и Той ще ви въздига.

11 ¶ Murmur not against one another, brethren. He that speaks evil of his brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law; but if thou judge the law, thou art not a keeper of the law, but a judge.

Не се одумвайте един друг, братя; който одумва брат или съди брат си, злослови закона и съди закона; а ако съдиш закона, не си изпълнител на закона, а съдия.

12 T here is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou to judge another?

Само Един е законодател и съдия, Който може да спаси и да погуби; а ти кой си, та съдиш ближния си?

13 C ome now, ye that say, Today and tomorrow we will go into such a city and continue there a year and buy and sell and get gain;

Слушайте сега, вие, които казвате: Днес или утре ще отидем в еди-кой си град, ще останем там една година и ще търгуваме, и ще спечелим,

14 a nd ye do not know what shall be tomorrow. For what is your life? Certainly it is a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

когато вие не знаете какво ще бъде утре. Какво е животът ви? Защото вие сте па̀ра, която се явява и после изчезва.

15 Y e ought to say instead, If the Lord wills, and if we live, we shall do this or that.

Вместо това вие трябва да казвате: Ако иска Господ, ние ще живеем и ще направим това или онова.

16 B ut now ye boast in your arrogance; all such glory is evil.

Но сега се хвалите с високомерие. Всяка такава хвалба е зло.

17 T herefore sin is still in the one that knows to do good and does not do it.

И така, ако някой знае да прави добро и не го прави, той си навлича грях.
