1 ¶ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Възлюбени, не вярвайте на всеки дух, а изпитвайте духовете дали са от Бога; защото много лъжепророци излязоха по света.

2 I n this know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ, is come in flesh is of God:

По това познавайте Божия Дух: всеки дух, който изповяда, че Исус Христос дойдѐ в плът, е от Бога;

3 A nd every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ, is come in flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, of which ye have heard that it should come, and that now it is already in the world.

а никой дух, който не изповядва Спасителя, не е от Бога; и това е духът на Антихриста, за когото сте чули, че идва, и сега е вече в света.

4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.

Вие сте от Бога, дечица, и сте ги победили; защото Този, Който е във вас, е по-велик от онзи, който е в света.

5 T hey are of the world; therefore, they speak of the world, and the world hears them.

Те са от света, затова светски говорят и светът тях слуша.

6 W e are of God; he that knows God hears us; he that is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

Ние сме от Бога; който познава Бога, нас слуша; който не е от Бога, не ни слуша. По това разпознаваме духа на истината и духа на заблудата. Извор на любовта

7 ¶ Beloved, let us love one another, for charity is of God. Anyone that loves is born of God and knows God.

Възлюбени, да се обичаме един друг, защото любовта е от Бога; и всеки, който обича, е роден от Бога и познава Бога.

8 H e that does not love does not know God, for God is charity.

Който не обича, не е познал Бога; защото Бог е любов.

9 I n this was the charity of God demonstrated in us, in that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

В това се яви Божията любов към нас, че Бог изпрати на света Своя Единороден Син, за да живеем чрез Него.

10 I n this does the charity consist, not because we had loved God, but because he loved us and has sent his Son to be the reconciliation for our sins.

В това се състои любовта - не че ние сме възлюбили Бога, а че Той възлюби нас и прати Сина Си като умилостивение за греховете ни.

11 B eloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Възлюбени, понеже Бог така ни е възлюбил, то и ние сме длъжни да се обичаме един друг.

12 N o one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and his charity is completed in us.

Никой никога не е видял Бога; но ако се обичаме един друг, Бог пребъдва в нас и Неговата любов е съвършена в нас.

13 I n this we know that we abide in him, and he in us, in that he has given us of his Spirit.

По това познаваме, че пребъдваме в Него и Той в нас, защото ни е дал от Духа Си.

14 ¶ And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

И ние видяхме и свидетелстваме, че Отец прати Своя Син да бъде Спасител на света.

15 W hosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.

Ако някой изповяда, че Исус е Божият Син, Бог пребъдва в него и той в Бога.

16 A nd we have known and believed the charity that God has in us. God is charity, and he that abides in charity abides in God, and God in him.

И ние сме познали и сме повярвали в любовта, която Бог има към нас. Бог е любов; и който пребъдва в любовта, пребъдва в Бога и Бог - в него.

17 ¶ In this the charity with us is made perfect, that we may have confidence in the day of judgment, that as he is, so are we in this world.

В това се усъвършенства любовта в нас, че имаме дръзновение в съдния ден, защото както е Той, така сме и ние в този свят.

18 I n charity there is no fear; but charity that is perfect casts out fear; because fear has torment; from which he that fears is not complete in charity.

В любовта няма страх, а съвършената любов пропъжда страха; защото страхът има в себе си наказание и който се страхува, не е стигнал до съвършенство в любовта.

19 W e love him, because he first loved us.

Ние обичаме Него, защото първо Той възлюби нас.

20 I f anyone says, I love God and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he that does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?

Ако някой каже: Обичам Бога, а мрази брат си, той е лъжец; защото който не обича брат си, когото е видял, не може да обича Бога, Когото не е видял.

21 A nd we have this commandment from him, That he who loves God loves his brother also.

И тази заповед имаме от Него: Който обича Бога, да обича и брат си.
