1 ¶ Hear the word of the LORD, ye sons of Israel; for the LORD contends with the inhabitants of the land because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the earth.

Слушайте словото Господне, израелтяни, защото Господ има спор с жителите на тази земя, понеже няма вярност, нито милост, нито знание за Бога по земята.

2 B y swearing and lying and murdering and stealing and committing adultery, they prevailed, and blood touches blood.

Друго няма освен клетва, лъжа и убийство, кражба и прелюбодейство; разбиват къщи и кръв допира до кръв.

3 T herefore the earth shall mourn, and every one that dwells therein shall be cut off, with the beasts of the field and the fowls of heaven; and even the fishes of the sea shall be caught.

Затова земята ще жалее и всеки, който живее на нея, ще примре, също и полските зверове и небесните птици; още и морските риби ще изчезнат.

4 C ertainly man does not contend with nor reprehend man; for thy people are as those that resist the priest.

Но никой да не се противи, нито да изобличава другиго; защото твоят народ е като онези, които се противят на свещеника.

5 T herefore thou shalt fall in the day, and the prophet shall also fall with thee by night, and I will cut off thy mother.

Затова ще се подхлъзнеш денем и с тебе ще се подхлъзне и пророкът нощем; и Аз ще погубя майка ти.

6 ¶ My people were cut off because they lacked wisdom; because thou hast rejected wisdom, I will cast thee out of the priesthood; seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy sons.

Народът Ми загина от липса на знание; понеже ти отхвърли знанието, то и Аз отхвърлих тебе да не Ми свещенодействаш; понеже ти забрави закона на твоя Бог, то и Аз ще забравя твоите деца.

7 A ccording to their greatness, so did they sin against me; therefore I will change their honour into shame.

Колкото повече се умножиха, толкова повече съгрешаваха пред Мене! Ще превърна славата им в безчестие.

8 T hey eat up the sin of my people, and in their iniquity they raise up their soul.

Свещениците се хранят с греховете на народа Ми и прилепват сърцата си към тяхното беззаконие.

9 T he people shall become like the priest; and I will visit his ways upon him, and they shall reward him according to his doings.

И така ще бъде: Какъвто е народът, такъв е и свещеникът; и Аз ще ги накажа за постъпките им и ще им въздам за делата им.

10 F or they shall eat and not be satisfied; they shall commit whoredom and shall not increase because they have quit showing hospitality unto the LORD.

Защото ще ядат, но няма да се насищат; ще блудстват, но няма да се размножават; понеже престанаха да внимават към Господа.

11 W horedom and wine and new wine take away the heart.

Блудство, вино и шира отнемат разума.

12 ¶ My people ask counsel of their wooden idol, and their stick declares unto them; for the spirit of whoredoms has caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring under their gods.

Народът Ми се допитва до дървото си и жезълът им им отговаря; защото блуден дух ги е заблудил и те блудстват и въстанаха против властта на своя Бог.

13 T hey sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, that had good shade; therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your daughters-in-law shall commit adultery.

Жертват по върховете на хълмовете и кадят по хълмовете, под дъбовете, тополите и теревинтите, защото сянката им е добра; затова дъщерите ви блудстват и снахите ви прелюбодействат.

14 I will not visit upon your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor upon your daughters-in-law when they commit adultery: for they offer with whores, and they sacrifice with cult prostitutes; therefore the people without understanding shall fall.

Няма особено да накажа дъщерите ви, когато блудстват, или снахите ви, когато прелюбодействат; защото самите бащи отиват насаме с блудниците и жертват с безчестните жени; затова неразумният народ ще бъде съборен.

15 T hough thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah be guilty; and do not come unto Gilgal, neither go up to Bethaven, nor swear, The LORD lives,

Ако и да блудстваш ти, Израелю, поне да не беззаконства Юда; и така, не идвайте в Галгал, нито излизайте във Вет-авен, нито се кълнете в живота на Господа.

16 f or Israel has turned away as a wild heifer; shall the LORD now feed them as rams in a large place?

Защото Израел упорства̀ като упорита телица; и така, сега Господ ще ги пасе като агнето в далечни места.

17 E phraim is given over to idols; leave him.

Ефрем се е привързал към идолите; оставете го.

18 T heir drink has become corrupted; they have committed whoredom continually; her princes love gifts, shamefully.

Свършиха ли се пировете им, те съвсем се предадоха на блудство; обичат да казват: Дайте! Първенците му са за негов срам.

19 T he wind has bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.

Вятърът ще го притисне между крилата си; и те ще се посрамят от жертвите си.
