1 ¶ At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus

В онова време четвъртовластникът Ирод чу слуха, който се носеше за Исус;

2 a nd said unto his slaves, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do show forth themselves in him.

и каза на слугите си: Този е Йоан Кръстител - той е възкръснал от мъртвите и затова тези сили действат чрез него.

3 F or Herod had laid hold on John and bound him and put him in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife.

Защото Ирод беше хванал Йоан и го беше вързал и хвърлил в тъмница заради Иродиада, жената на брат си Филип;

4 F or John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.

понеже Йоан му казваше: Не ти е позволено да я имаш.

5 A nd when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude because they counted him as a prophet.

И искаше да го убие, но се боеше от народа, защото го смятаха за пророк.

6 B ut when Herod’s birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod.

А когато Ирод имаше рожден ден, дъщерята на Иродиада танцува сред събраните и угоди на Ирод.

7 W hereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatever she would ask.

Затова той с клетва обеща да ѝ даде, каквото и да му поиска.

8 A nd she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John the Baptist’s head in a platter.

А тя, подучена от майка си, каза: Дай ми тук на блюдо главата на Йоан Кръстител.

9 A nd the king was sorry; nevertheless because of the oath and of those who sat with him at the table, he commanded it to be given her.

Царят се наскърби; но заради клетвата си и заради седящите с него заповяда да ѝ се даде.

10 A nd he sent and beheaded John in the prison.

И изпрати да обезглавят Йоан в тъмницата.

11 A nd his head was brought in a platter and given to the damsel, and she brought it to her mother.

И донесоха главата му на блюдо и я дадоха на девойката, а тя я занесе на майка си.

12 A nd his disciples came and took up the body and buried it and went and told Jesus.

А учениците му, като дойдоха, взеха тялото и го погребаха; и отидоха и казаха на Исус. Чудото с нахранването на пет хиляди души

13 ¶ When Jesus heard of it, he departed from there by ship into a desert place apart; and when the people had heard of it, they followed him on foot out of the cities.

И Исус, като чу това, се оттегли оттам с ладия на уединено място настрана; а народът, като разбра, отиде след Него пеша от градовете.

14 A nd Jesus went forth and saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

И Той, като излезе, видя голямо множество, смили се над тях и изцели болните им.

15 A nd when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.

А като се свечери, учениците дойдоха при Него и казаха: Мястото е уединено и времето вече напредна; разпусни народа да отиде по селата да си купи храна.

16 B ut Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

А Исус им каза: Няма нужда да ходят; дайте им вие да ядат.

17 A nd they said unto him, We have here but five loaves and two fishes.

А те Му отговориха: Имаме тук само пет хляба и две риби.

18 H e said, Bring them here to me.

А Той им каза: Донесете ги тук при Мене.

19 A nd he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass and took the five loaves and the two fishes; and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

Тогава, като заповяда на народа да насяда на тревата, взе петте хляба и двете риби, погледна към небето и благослови; и като разчупи хлябовете, даде ги на учениците, а учениците - на народа.

20 A nd they all ate and were filled, and they took up of the fragments that remained, twelve baskets full.

И всички ядоха и се наситиха; и вдигнаха останалите къшеи - дванадесет пълни коша.

21 A nd those that had eaten were about five thousand men besides women and children.

А онези, които ядоха, бяха около пет хиляди мъже освен жените и децата. Исус Христос ходи по водата

22 ¶ And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship and to go before him unto the other side while he sent the multitude away.

И начаса Исус накара учениците да влязат в ладията и да отидат преди Него на отсрещната страна, докато разпусне народа.

23 A nd when he had sent the multitude away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray; and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

И като разпусна народа, изкачи се на хълма да се помоли насаме. И като се свечери, Той беше там сам.

24 B ut the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves, for the wind was contrary.

А ладията беше вече насред езерото, блъскана от вълните, защото вятърът беше насрещен.

25 A nd in the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went unto them, walking upon the sea.

А в четвъртата стража на нощта Той дойде при тях, като вървеше по езерото.

26 A nd when the disciples saw him walking upon the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a ghost; and they cried out for fear.

И учениците, като Го видяха, че ходи по езерото, се смутиха и мислеха, че е призрак, и от страх извикаха.

27 B ut straightway Jesus spoke unto them, saying, Trust that I AM; be not afraid.

А Исус веднага им проговори: Дерзайте! Аз съм; не бойте се!

28 T hen Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me to come unto thee upon the water.

И Петър Му отговори: Господи, ако си Ти, кажи ми да дойда при Тебе по водата.

29 A nd he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked upon the water to go to Jesus.

А Той каза: Ела! И Петър слезе от ладията и вървеше по водата, за да иде при Исус.

30 B ut seeing that the wind was strong, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, Lord, save me.

Но като видя силния вятър, уплаши се и като потъваше, извика: Господи, избави ме!

31 A nd immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand and caught him and said unto him, O thou of little faith, why didst thou doubt?

И Исус веднага протегна ръка, хвана го и му каза: Маловерецо, защо се усъмни?

32 A nd when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

И като влязоха в ладията, вятърът утихна.

33 T hen those that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Truly thou art the Son of God.

А онези, които бяха в ладията, Му се поклониха и казаха: Наистина, Ти си Божий Син.

34 ¶ And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.

И като преминаха езерото, дойдоха в Генисаретската земя.

35 A nd when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about and brought unto him all that were sick

И когато местните мъже Го познаха, разпратиха по цялата онази околност и доведоха при Него всички болни;

36 a nd besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment, and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.

и Го молеха да се допрат само до полата на дрехата Му; и колкото се допряха, се изцелиха.
