1 ¶ In the year twenty-three of Joash, the son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, Jehoahaz the son of Jehu, began to reign over Israel in Samaria and reigned seventeen years.

В двадесет и третата година на Юдейския цар Йоас, Охозиевия син, се възцари Йоахаз, Ииуевият син, над Израел в Самария и царува̀ седемнадесет години.

2 A nd he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD and followed the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin; and he did not depart from them.

Той вършѝ зло пред Господа, като последва греховете на Еровоам, Наватовия син, с които подтикна Израел да греши; не се отърси от тях.

3 A nd the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael, king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad, the son of Hazael, all their days.

Затова гневът на Господа пламна против Израел и Той постоянно ги предаваше в ръцете на сирийския цар Азаил и на Венадад, Азаиловия син.

4 B ut Jehoahaz grieved before the LORD, and the LORD hearkened unto him, for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.

Тогава Йоахаз се помоли на Господа; и Господ го послуша, защото видя притеснението на Израел заради сирийския цар.

5 ( And the LORD gave Israel a saviour so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians, and the sons of Israel dwelt in their tents as beforetime.

(И Господ даде избавител на Израел, така че се отърваха от сирийците и израелтяните живееха в жилищата си, както преди;

6 W ith all this, they did not depart from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who made Israel sin, but walked in them; and the grove also remained in Samaria.)

обаче не се отказаха от греховете на дома на Еровоам, с които той подтикна Израел да греши, а пак ги вършеха; и ашерата още стоеше в Самария.)

7 N either did he leave of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen and ten chariots and ten thousand footmen, for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like dust to be tread upon.

Защото сирийският цар не беше оставил на Йоахаз от народа повече от петдесет конници, десет колесници и десет хиляди пешаци; защото сирийският цар ги беше погубил и направил като стъпкана пръст.

8 N ow the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz and all that he did and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

А останалите дела на Йоахаз и всичко, което извърши, и подвизите му, са записани в Книгата на летописите на Израелевите царе.

9 A nd Jehoahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria; and Joash, his son, reigned in his stead.

И Йоахаз заспа с бащите си и го погребаха в Самария; а вместо него се възцари синът му Йоас. Възцаряване на израелския цар Йоас

10 ¶ In the year thirty-seven of Joash, king of Judah, Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz, began to reign over Israel in Samaria and reigned sixteen years.

В тридесет и седмата година на Юдейския цар Йоас се възцари Йоас, Йоахазовият син, над Израел в Самария и царува шестнадесет години.

11 A nd he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he did not depart from all the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin; he walked in them.

Той вършѝ зло пред Господа; не се отказа от нито един от греховете на Еровоам, Наватовия син, с които подтикна Израел да греши, а продължаваше да ги извършва.

12 A nd the rest of the acts of Joash and all that he did, and his might with which he fought against Amaziah, king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

А останалите дела на Йоас и всичко, което извърши, и юначеството, с което воюва̀ против Юдейския цар Амасия, са записани в Книгата на летописите на Израелевите царе.

13 A nd Joash slept with his fathers, and Jeroboam sat upon his throne; and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

И Йоас заспа с бащите си; а на престола му седна Еровоам. А Йоас беше погребан в Самария с Израелевите царе. Боледуване и смърт на пророк Елисей

14 N ow Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness of which he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariots of Israel, and the horsemen thereof!

В това време Елисей се разболя от болестта, от която по-късно умря. Израелевият цар слезе при него и плака над него, като възкликна: Татко мой! Татко мой! Колесница Израелева и негова конница!

15 A nd Elisha said unto him, Take the bow and the arrows. And he took unto him the bow and the arrows.

А Елисей му каза: Вземи лък и стрели. И той си взе лък и стрели.

16 A nd he said to the king of Israel, Put thy hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it; and Elisha put his hands upon the king’s hands.

Тогава пророкът каза на Израелевия цар: Сложи ръката си на лъка. И като сложи ръката си, Елисей положи ръцете си върху ръцете на царя и каза:

17 A nd he said, Open the window towards the east. And when he opened it Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD’s salvation, and the arrow of salvation from Syria; for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, until thou have consumed them.

Отвори източния прозорец. И той го отвори. Елисей му каза: Стреляй. И той стреля. Елисей каза: Стрелата на Господнето спасение! Да! Стрелата на избавлението от сирийците! Защото ще поразиш сирийците в Афек, докато ги довършиш.

18 A nd he said again, Take the arrows. And he took them. Then he said to the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote three times, and stopped.

Каза още: Вземи стрелите. И той ги взе. Тогава каза на Израелевия цар: Удряй на земята. И той удари три пъти и престана.

19 T hen the man of God was angry with him, and said, If thou would have smitten five or six times; then thou would have smitten Syria until thou had consumed it; whereas now thou shalt smite Syria three times.

А Божият човек му се разсърди и каза: Трябваше да удариш пет или шест пъти; тогава щеше да удариш сирийците, докато ги довършиш; а сега само три пъти ще поразиш сирийците.

20 ¶ And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.

И Елисей умря и го погребаха. А в следващата година няколко моавски чети опустошаваха земята.

21 A nd it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha; and when the dead man touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.

Неколцина израелтяни, като погребваха един човек, видяха чета; затова хвърлиха човека в гроба на Елисей. Щом човекът се допря до Елисеевите кости, оживя и се изправи на краката си.

22 S o Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.

А сирийският цар Азаил притесняваше Израел през всичките дни на Йоахаз.

23 B ut the LORD was merciful unto them, and had compassion on them, and looked upon them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and did not desire to destroy them or to cast them from his presence as yet.

Но Господ им показа милост, пожали ги и се обърна към тях заради завета Си с Авраам, Исаак, Яков; и отказа да ги изтреби и не ги отхвърли още от присъствието Си;

24 A nd Hazael king of Syria died; and Benhadad his son reigned in his stead.

защото, като умря сирийският цар Азаил и вместо него се възкачи синът му Венадад,

25 A nd Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities, which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz, his father, by war. Three times did Joash smite him, and he recovered the cities of Israel.

Йоас, Йоахазовият син, взе обратно от ръката на Венадад, Азаиловия син, градовете, които Азаил беше отнел от ръката на баща му Йоахаз във война. Йоас го порази три пъти и си възвърна Израелевите градове.
