1 ¶ And David fled from Naioth in Ramah and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? What is my iniquity or what is my sin before thy father that he seeks my life?

Тогава Давид избяга от Нават в Рама и дойде и каза на Йонатан: Какво съм сторил? Каква е неправдата ми и какъв е грехът ми към баща ти, че иска живота ми?

2 A nd he said unto him, No, in no wise; thou shalt not die. Behold, my father will do nothing either great or small, but that he will show it me, and why should my father hide this thing from me? It shall not be so.

А Йонатан му отговори: Да не дава Господ! Ти няма да умреш. Баща ми не прави нищо, нито голямо, нито малко, без да ми каже. Защо би скрил такова нещо от мене? Не е вярно, че иска да те убие.

3 A nd David swore moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knows that I have found grace in thine eyes, and he saith in himself, Let Jonathan not know this lest he be grieved; but truly as the LORD lives and as thy soul lives, there is but a step between me and death.

Обаче Давид се закле и каза: Баща ти знае добре, че аз съм придобил твоето благоволение, затова си казва: Да не знае Йонатан за това, за да не се наскърби. Заклевам се в живота на Господа и в живота на душата ти, само една крачка има между мен и смъртта.

4 T hen Jonathan said unto David, Whatever thy soul saith, I will do it for thee.

Тогава Йонатан каза на Давид: Каквото поиска душата ти, аз ще го сторя за теб.

5 A nd David replied unto Jonathan, Behold, tomorrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at food, but thou shalt let me go and hide myself in the field until the evening of the third day.

А Давид му отвърна: Ето, утре е новолуние и аз съм длъжен да седя с царя на ядене. Позволи ми да ида да се крия на полето до вечерта на третия ден.

6 I f thy father at all misses me, then say, David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Bethlehem, his city, for all those of his lineage have an anniversary sacrifice.

Ако баща ти забележи, че ме няма, тогава му кажи: Давид настоятелно поиска позволение от мене да отиде бързо в града си Витлеем, защото там става годишната жертва за цялото му семейство.

7 I f he should say, It is well; thy slave shall have peace; but if he is very wroth, then be sure that the evil is determined in him.

Ако Саул каже: Добре!, тогава слугата ти ще има мир. Но ако се разгневи много, да знаеш, че злото е решено от него.

8 T herefore, thou shalt deal in mercy with thy slave, for thou hast brought thy slave into a covenant of the LORD with thee; notwithstanding, if there is iniquity in me, slay me thyself, for why should thou bring me to thy father?

И така, покажи милост към мене, защото ти си въвел слугата си в Господен завет със себе си. Но ако има неправда в мен, убий ме самият ти. Защо да ме водиш при баща си?

9 ¶ And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee, for if I knew certainly that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, then would I not be obliged to show it to thee?

Йонатан отговори: Да не ти се случи това никога. Ако бях узнал наистина, че от баща ми е решено да дойде злото върху тебе, нямаше ли да ти го кажа?

10 T hen said David to Jonathan, Who shall tell me? Or what if thy father answers thee roughly?

Тогава Давид каза на Йонатан: Кой ще ми съобщи, ако баща ти ти отговори сърдито?

11 A nd Jonathan said unto David, Come, and let us go out into the field. And both of them went out into the field.

А Йонатан му отговори: Нека да излезем на полето. И така, двамата излязоха на полето.

12 T hen Jonathan said unto David, O LORD God of Israel, when I shall have asked my father tomorrow at this time or after tomorrow and, behold, if there is good toward David and I then do not send unto thee and show it to thee,

Йонатан каза на Давид: Господ, Израелевият Бог, да бъде свидетел, ако, след като изпитам баща си, утре по това време или на третия ден, и ако има добра вест за Давид, не изпратя това известие до тебе да ти го съобщя.

13 t he LORD do so and much more to Jonathan. But if it pleases my father to do thee evil, then I will show it to thee and send thee away that thou may go in peace; and the LORD be with thee as he has been with my father.

И така да направи Господ на Йонатан - да! - и повече да прибави, ако, в случай че баща ми е решил да ти стори зло, не ти известя за това и не те изпратя да си отидеш с мир. Господ да бъде с тебе, както е бил с баща ми!

14 A nd if I live, thou shalt show me the mercy of the LORD, but if I am dead,

И не само докато съм жив, показвай към мене милост Господня,

15 t hou shalt not cut off thy mercy from my house for ever. When the LORD has cut off one by one the enemies of David from the face of the earth, remove even Jonathan from thy house if I fail thee and require it at the hand of David’s enemies.

но и като умра, до века не отнемай милостта си към дома ми, дори и тогава, когато Господ ще е изтребил от лицето на земята всеки от Давидовите неприятели.

16 S o Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David.

Така Йонатан сключи завет с Давидовия дом и каза: Господ да изисква това чрез Давидовите неприятели!

17 A nd Jonathan swore unto David again because he loved him, for he loved him as he loved his own soul.

И Йонатан накара Давид да се закълне още веднъж поради любовта, която имаше към него; защото го обичаше, както обичаше собствената си душа.

18 T hen Jonathan said to David, Tomorrow is the new moon, and thou shalt be missed because thy seat will be empty.

Тогава Йонатан му каза: Утре е новолуние; и ще видят, че те няма, защото твоето място ще бъде празно.

19 A nd when thou hast stayed three days, then thou shalt go down quickly and come to the place where thou didst hide thyself on the day of the work and shalt remain by the stone Ezel;

Като престоиш три дни, слез бързо и ела на мястото, където се беше скрил в деня, когато разисквахме онази работа, и се скрий при скалата Езил.

20 a nd I will shoot three arrows on the side thereof as though I shot at a mark.

А аз ще изстрелям три стрели по едната ѝ страна като че стрелям в прицел.

21 A nd, behold, I will send a lad, saying, Go, find the arrows. If I expressly say unto the lad, Behold, the arrows are on this side of thee; take them, then come thou, for there is peace unto thee and no hurt, as the LORD lives.

След това ще пратя момчето и ще му кажа: Иди намери стрелите. Ако кажа нарочно на момчето: Стрелите са зад тебе, вземи ги; тогава ти ела, защото има мир за теб и няма никаква опасност - заклевам се за това в живота на Господа.

22 B ut if I say thus unto the young man, Behold, the arrows are beyond thee, then go away, for the LORD has sent thee away.

Но ако кажа на момчето: Стрелите са пред тебе, тогава върви в пътя си, защото Господ те е отпратил.

23 A nd as touching the matter which thou and I have spoken of, behold, let the LORD be between thee and me for ever.

А относно тази уговорка, която аз и ти сме уговорили, нека Господ да бъде свидетел между мен и тебе до века.

24 ¶ So David hid himself in the field, and when the new moon was come, the king sat down to eat bread.

И така, Давид се скри на полето. И когато дойде новолунието, царят седна на трапезата да яде.

25 A nd the king sat upon his seat as at other times, even upon a seat by the wall; and Jonathan arose, and Abner sat by Saul’s side, and David’s place was empty.

След като царят седна на мястото си, както винаги, на определено място до стената, Йонатан стана и Авенир седна при Саул. А Давидовото място остана празно.

26 N evertheless, Saul said nothing that day, for he thought, Something has befallen him, he is not clean; surely he is not clean.

Саул обаче не каза нищо през онзи ден, защото си каза: Навярно му се е случило нещо, за да не е чист; и без друго е нечист.

27 A nd it came to pass on the next day, which was the second day of the new moon, that David’s place was empty, and Saul said unto Jonathan his son, Why did not the son of Jesse come to food, neither yesterday nor today?

А на следващия ден, втория от месеца, Давидовото място пак беше празно; затова Саул попита сина си Йонатан: Защо Есеевият син не дойде да яде нито вчера, нито днес?

28 A nd Jonathan answered Saul, David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Bethlehem.

И Йонатан отговори на Саул: Давид настоятелно поиска позволение от мене да отиде във Витлеем, като каза:

29 A nd he said, Let me go, I pray thee, for those of our lineage have a sacrifice in the city, and my brother, he has commanded me to be there, and now, if I have found grace in thine eyes, let me get away, I pray thee, and see my brethren. Therefore he has not come unto the king’s table.

Пусни ме, защото семейството ни има жертва в града и брат ми ми заръча да ида. Ако съм придобил твоето благоволение, позволи ми да отида и да видя братята си. Затова не дойде на царската трапеза.

30 T hen Saul’s anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of the perverse rebellious woman, do I not know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion and unto the confusion of thy mother’s shame?

Тогава гневът на Саул пламна против Йонатан и той му каза: Развратени и отстъпни сине, не зная ли, че ти си избрал Есеевия син за срам на теб и за срам на майчината ти голота?

31 F or as long as the son of Jesse lives upon the land, thou shalt not be established nor thy kingdom. Therefore, now send and bring him unto me, for he shall surely die.

Защото, докато Есеевият син живее на земята, нито ти, нито царството ти ще се утвърди. Затова прати сега да го доведат при мене, защото непременно ще умре.

32 A nd Jonathan answered Saul his father and said unto him, Why shall he be slain? What has he done?

А Йонатан отговори на баща си Саул: Защо да бъде убит? Какво е сторил?

33 A nd Saul cast a spear at him to smite him whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David.

А Саул хвърли копието си срещу него, за да го промуши, от което Йонатан разбра, че баща му беше решил да убие Давид.

34 S o Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger and ate no food the second day of the new moon, for he was grieved for David and because his father had done him shame.

И така, Йонатан стана от трапезата разярен от гняв и не яде никаква храна втория ден от месеца; защото беше наскърбен за Давид, понеже баща му го беше опозорил.

35 ¶ And it came to pass in the morning that Jonathan went out into the field at the time appointed with David, and a little lad with him.

На сутринта Йонатан излезе на полето, на мястото, за което се беше уговорил с Давид, и водеше със себе си едно малко момче.

36 A nd he said unto his lad, Run and find the arrows which I shoot. And as the lad ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.

Той каза на момчето си: Тичай, намери стрелите, които ще изстрелям. Докато момчето тичаше, той изстреля една стрела по-нататък от него.

37 A nd when the lad was come to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan cried after the lad, and said, Is not the arrow beyond thee?

А когато момчето стигна до мястото, където беше стрелата, която Йонатан изстреля, Йонатан викна след него: Не е ли стрелата по-нататък от теб?

38 A nd Jonathan cried after the lad, Make speed, haste, stay not. And Jonathan’s lad gathered up the arrows and came to his master.

И Йонатан извика след момчето: Побързай, не се бави. И Йонатановото момче, като събра стрелите, се върна при господаря си.

39 B ut the lad did not understand anything; only Jonathan and David understood the matter.

Но момчето не знаеше нищо; само Йонатан и Давид знаеха уговорката.

40 A nd Jonathan gave his weapons unto his lad and said unto him, Go, carry them to the city.

Тогава Йонатан даде оръжията си на момчето, което му слугуваше, и му каза: Върви, занеси ги в града.

41 A nd as soon as the lad was gone, David arose out of a place toward the Negev and fell on his face to the ground and bowed himself three times, and they kissed one another and wept one with another, although David exceeded.

А щом момчето отиде, Давид излезе от едно място на юг и като падна с лице на земята, поклони се три пъти. И се целуваха един друг и плакаха и двамата - а Давид плака особено много.

42 A nd Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, The LORD be between me and thee and between my seed and thy seed for ever. And he arose and departed, and Jonathan entered into the city.

Тогава Йонатан каза на Давид: Върви с мир, както се заклехме ние двамата в Господнето име, като казахме: Господ да бъде свидетел между мен и теб и между моето потомство и твоето потомство до века! И Давид тръгна и си отиде; а Йонатан се върна в града.
