1 ¶ When Ephraim spoke everyone feared, he was exalted in Israel; but he was found guilty in Baal and died.

Когато Ефрем говореше с трепет, той се издигна в Израел; а когато съгреши чрез Ваал, тогава умря.

2 A nd now they sin more and more, and of their silver they have made molten images according to their own intelligence, idols, all of it the work of the craftsmen; they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.

А сега прибавят към греховете си, като си правят лети идоли от среброто си, идоли според своето разбиране на Божеството, но които всички са дело на художници; самите те казват за тях: Нека целуват телетата онези, които жертват.

3 T herefore they shall be as the morning mist and as the early dew that passes away, as the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the threshing floor and as the smoke out of the chimney.

Затова ще бъдат като утринния облак и като росата, която изчезва рано, като прах, който вихрушката отвява от хармана, и като дим, губещ се от комин.

4 Y et I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt; therefore thou shalt know no God other than me, nor any other saviour but me.

Но Аз съм Господ, твой Бог от времето, когато ти беше в Египетската земя; друг Бог освен Мене да не познаеш, защото освен Мене няма спасител.

5 ¶ I knew thee in the wilderness, in the dry land.

Аз съм познал ходенето ти в пустинята, в много сухата земя.

6 I n their pastures, they filled themselves; they were satisfied, and their heart was exalted; for this reason they have forgotten me.

Според както пасяха, така се наситиха; наситиха се и сърцето им се надигна; затова Ме забравиха.

7 T herefore I will be unto them as a lion; as a tiger in the way I will observe them:

По тази причина станах за тях като лъв, като леопард ще дебна на път;

8 I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps and will rend the veil of their heart, and there I will devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them apart.

ще ги срещна като мечка, лишена от малките си, и ще разкъсам булото на сърцето им; там ще ги погълна като лъвица; див звяр ще ги разкъса.

9 ¶ O Israel, thou hast caused thyself to become lost, but in me is thine help.

Гибелно е за теб, Израелю, че се противиш на Мене, твоята помощ.

10 W here is thy king, that may save thee with all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou didst say, Give me a king and princes?

А сега къде е царят ти? - За да те избави във всичките ти градове; и съдиите ти, за които каза: Дай ми цар и началници?

11 I gave thee a king in my anger and took him away in my wrath.

Дадох ти цар в негодуванието Си и го махнах в гнева Си.

12 T he iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is hid.

Беззаконието на Ефрем е скътано, грехът му - запазен в скривалище.

13 T he sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him; he is an unwise son; for a long time now he should not have stopped short at the very breaking forth of birth.

Болки на раждаща жена ще го сполетят; той е неразумен син, не слиза навреме в отвора на матката.

14 I will ransom them from the power of Sheol; I will redeem them from death; O death, I will be thy end; O Sheol, I will be thy destruction. Repentance shall be hid from my eyes.

От силата на преизподнята ще ги изкупя, от смърт ще ги избавя. О, смърт! Къде са язвите ти? О, преизподньо! Къде е погубителната ти сила? Колкото до това, Аз няма да видя разкаяние.

15 T hough he be fruitful among his brethren, the east wind shall come; the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up; he shall spoil the treasure of all the vessels of desire.

Ако и той да е плодовит повече от братята си, пак източен вятър ще дойде, вятър от Господа ще възлезе от пустинята и ще престане изворът му, и ще пресъхне кладенецът му; неприятелят ще ограби всичките му съхранени отбрани съдове.

16 S amaria shall be condemned; for she has rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword; their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped open.

Самария ще носи наказанието си, защото въстана против своя Бог; ще паднат от меч, младенците им ще бъдат разкъсани и бременните им жени - разпорени.
