1 ¶ Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem; but he did not do that which was right in the sight of the LORD, like David, his father.

De veinte años era Acaz cuando comenzó a reinar, y dieciséis años reinó en Jerusalén; mas no hizo lo recto ante los ojos del SEÑOR, como David su padre.

2 T o the contrary he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel and also made molten images unto Baalim.

Antes anduvo en los caminos de los reyes de Israel, y además hizo imágenes de fundición a los Baales.

3 M oreover, he burnt incense in the valley of the sons of Hinnom and burnt his sons in the fire, after the abominations of the Gentiles whom the LORD had cast out before the sons of Israel.

Quemó también incienso en el valle de los hijos de Hinom, y quemó a sus hijos en el fuego, conforme a las abominaciones de los gentiles que el SEÑOR había echado delante de los hijos de Israel.

4 H e sacrificed also and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills and under every green tree.

Asimismo sacrificó y quemó incienso en los lugares altos, y en los collados, y debajo de todo árbol espeso.

5 T herefore, the LORD his God delivered him into the hands of the king of Syria, and they smote him and carried away a great multitude of them captives and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hands of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.

Por lo cual el SEÑOR su Dios lo entregó en manos del rey de los sirios, los cuales le derrotaron, y cogieron de él una gran presa, que llevaron a Damasco. Fue también entregado en manos del rey de Israel, el cual le hirió con gran mortandad.

6 ¶ For Pekah, the son of Remaliah, slew in Judah one hundred and twenty thousand in one day, who were all valiant men, because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers.

Porque Peca, hijo de Remalías mató en Judá en un día ciento veinte mil, todos hombres valientes; por cuanto habían dejado al SEÑOR Dios de sus padres.

7 A nd Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Maaseiah, the king’s son, and Azrikam, the governor of the house, and Elkanah, second after the king.

Asimismo Zicri, hombre poderoso de Efraín, mató a Maasías hijo del rey, y a Azricam su mayordomo, y a Elcana, segundo después del rey.

8 A nd the sons of Israel carried away captive of their brethren two hundred thousand, women, sons, and daughters, in addition to taking much spoil from them, which they brought to Samaria.

¶ Tomaron también cautivos los hijos de Israel de sus hermanos doscientos mil, mujeres, hijos e hijas, a más de haber saqueado de ellos un gran despojo, el cual trajeron a Samaria.

9 B ut a prophet of the LORD was there, whose name was Oded; and he went out before the host that came to Samaria and said unto them, Behold, because the LORD God of your fathers was angry with Judah, he has delivered them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a rage. This reaches up unto heaven.

Había entonces allí un profeta del SEÑOR, que se llamaba Obed, el cual salió delante del ejército cuando entraba en Samaria, y les dijo: He aquí el SEÑOR Dios de vuestros padres, por el enojo contra Judá, los ha entregado en vuestras manos; y vosotros los habéis matado con ira. Hasta el cielo ha llegado esto.

10 A nd now ye purpose to keep subject the sons of Judah and Jerusalem for menslaves and womenslaves unto you, but are ye not guilty against the LORD your God?

Y ahora habéis determinado sujetar a vosotros los hijos de Judá y de Jerusalén por siervos y siervas; mas ¿no sois vosotros culpables contra el SEÑOR vuestro Dios?

11 N ow hear me therefore, and deliver the captives again, which ye have taken captive of your brethren; for the fierce wrath of the LORD is upon you.

Oídme, pues, ahora, y volved a enviar los cautivos que habéis tomado de vuestros hermanos; porque la ira del furor del SEÑOR está contra vosotros.

12 T hen certain of the heads of the sons of Ephraim, Azariah, the son of Johanan, Berechiah, the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah, the son of Shallum, and Amasa, the son of Hadlai, stood up against those that came from the war

Entonces se levantaron algunos varones de los principales de los hijos de Efraín, Azarías hijo de Johanán, Berequías hijo de Mesilemot, Ezequías hijo de Salum, y Amasa hijo de Hadlai, contra los que venían de la guerra.

13 a nd said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the captives here, for the sin against the LORD shall be upon us. Ye intend to add more to our sins and to our guilt, for our guilt is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.

Y les dijeron: No traigáis acá los cautivos; porque el pecado contra el SEÑOR será sobre nosotros. Vosotros tratáis de añadir sobre nuestros pecados y sobre nuestras culpas, siendo muy grande nuestra culpa, y la ira del furor sobre Israel.

14 S o the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the princes and all the congregation.

Entonces el ejército dejó los cautivos y la presa delante de los príncipes y de toda la multitud.

15 A nd the men which were expressed by name rose up and took the captives, and, with the spoil, clothed all that were naked among them and arrayed them and shod them and gave them to eat and to drink and anointed them and carried all the feeble of them upon asses and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brethren; then they returned to Samaria.

Y se levantaron los varones nombrados, y tomaron los cautivos, y vistieron del despojo a los que de ellos estaban desnudos; los vistieron y los calzaron, y les dieron de comer y de beber, y los ungieron, y condujeron en asnos a todos los flacos, y los llevaron hasta Jericó, la ciudad de las palmas, cerca de sus hermanos; y ellos volvieron a Samaria.

16 ¶ At that time King Ahaz sent unto the kings of Assyria to help him.

¶ En aquel tiempo envió a pedir el rey Acaz a los reyes de Asiria que le ayudaran.

17 F or in addition to this, the Edomites had come and smitten Judah and carried away captives.

Porque a más de esto, los idumeos habían venido y herido a los de Judá, y habían llevado cautivos.

18 T he Philistines also had invaded the cities of the low country and towards the Negev of Judah and had taken Bethshemesh and Ajalon and Gederoth and Shocho with its villages and Timnah with its villages, Gimzo also and its villages, and they dwelt in them.

Asimismo los filisteos se habían derramado por las ciudades de la llanura, y al mediodía de Judá, y habían tomado a Bet-semes, a Ajalón, Gederot, y Soco con sus aldeas, Timna también con sus aldeas, y Gimzo con sus aldeas; y habitaban en ellas.

19 F or the LORD brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel, for he had made Judah naked and had completely rebelled against the LORD.

Porque el SEÑOR había humillado a Judá por causa de Acaz rey de Israel; por cuanto él había desnudado a Judá, y se había rebelado gravemente contra el SEÑOR.

20 A nd Tilgathpilneser, king of Assyria, came unto him, and distressed him but did not strengthen him.

Y vino contra él Tilgat-pileser, rey de los asirios; pues lo redujo a estrechez, y no lo fortificó.

21 F or even though Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of the LORD and out of the house of the king and of the princes and gave it unto the king of Assyria, he did not help him.

Aunque despojó Acaz la Casa del SEÑOR, y la casa real, y las de los príncipes, para dar al rey de los asirios, con todo eso él no le ayudó.

22 F urthermore, king Ahaz in the time of his distress trespassed even more against the LORD,

Además el rey Acaz en el tiempo que aquel le apuraba, añadió prevaricación contra el SEÑOR;

23 f or he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus, who had smitten him, and he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria help them; therefore, I will also sacrifice to them that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him and of all Israel.

porque sacrificó a los dioses de Damasco que le habían herido, y dijo: Pues que los dioses de los reyes de Siria les ayudan, yo también sacrificaré a ellos para que me ayuden; habiendo sido éstos su ruina, y la de todo Israel.

24 A nd Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God and shut up the doors of the house of the LORD, and he made himself altars in every corner of Jerusalem.

A más de eso recogió Acaz los vasos de la Casa de Dios, y los quebró, y cerró las puertas de la Casa del SEÑOR, y se hizo altares en Jerusalén en todos los rincones.

25 A nd in all the cities of Judah he made high places to burn incense unto other gods, and provoked to anger the LORD God of his fathers.

Hizo también lugares altos en todas las ciudades de Judá, para quemar incienso a los dioses ajenos, provocando a ira al SEÑOR Dios de sus padres.

26 N ow the rest of his acts and of all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

Los demás hechos, y todos sus caminos, primeros y postreros, he aquí ello está escrito en el libro de los reyes de Judá y de Israel.

27 A nd Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of Jerusalem, but they did not bring him into the sepulchres of the kings of Israel; and Hezekiah, his son, reigned in his stead.

Y durmió Acaz con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de Jerusalén; mas no le metieron en los sepulcros de los reyes de Israel; y reinó en su lugar Ezequías su hijo.
