1 A haz was twenty years old when he became king. And he ruled for sixteen years in Jerusalem. He did not do what was right in the eyes of the Lord, as his father David had done.

De veinte años era Acaz cuando comenzó a reinar, y dieciséis años reinó en Jerusalén; mas no hizo lo recto ante los ojos del SEÑOR, como David su padre.

2 B ut he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel. He also made objects to look like the false gods of Baal.

Antes anduvo en los caminos de los reyes de Israel, y además hizo imágenes de fundición a los Baales.

3 H e burned special perfume in the valley of Ben-Hinnom. And he burned his sons in fire, following the hated ways of the nations whom the Lord had driven out before the sons of Israel.

Quemó también incienso en el valle de los hijos de Hinom, y quemó a sus hijos en el fuego, conforme a las abominaciones de los gentiles que el SEÑOR había echado delante de los hijos de Israel.

4 H e gave gifts in worship and burned special perfume on the high places, on the hills, and under every green tree. Syria and Israel Win over Judah

Asimismo sacrificó y quemó incienso en los lugares altos, y en los collados, y debajo de todo árbol espeso.

5 S o the Lord his God gave him into the hand of the king of Syria. The Syrians won the war against Ahaz and carried away many of his people to Damascus. He was also given into the hand of the king of Israel, who killed many of his people in the war.

Por lo cual el SEÑOR su Dios lo entregó en manos del rey de los sirios, los cuales le derrotaron, y cogieron de él una gran presa, que llevaron a Damasco. Fue también entregado en manos del rey de Israel, el cual le hirió con gran mortandad.

6 F or Pekah the son of Remaliah killed 120, 000 powerful soldiers of Judah in one day, because they had turned away from the Lord God of their fathers.

Porque Peca, hijo de Remalías mató en Judá en un día ciento veinte mil, todos hombres valientes; por cuanto habían dejado al SEÑOR Dios de sus padres.

7 A nd Zichri, a strong man of Ephraim, killed the king’s son Maaseiah, and Azrikam the ruler of the house, and Elkanah the second in power to the king. Oded—the Man of God

Asimismo Zicri, hombre poderoso de Efraín, mató a Maasías hijo del rey, y a Azricam su mayordomo, y a Elcana, segundo después del rey.

8 T he sons of Israel carried away 200, 000 women and sons and daughters of Judah. They also took many good things from them to Samaria.

¶ Tomaron también cautivos los hijos de Israel de sus hermanos doscientos mil, mujeres, hijos e hijas, a más de haber saqueado de ellos un gran despojo, el cual trajeron a Samaria.

9 B ut a man who spoke for the Lord was there, whose name was Oded. He went out to meet the army that came to Samaria and said to them, “See, because the Lord, the God of your fathers, was angry with Judah, He has given them into your hand. But you have killed them in an anger which has even gone up to heaven.

Había entonces allí un profeta del SEÑOR, que se llamaba Obed, el cual salió delante del ejército cuando entraba en Samaria, y les dijo: He aquí el SEÑOR Dios de vuestros padres, por el enojo contra Judá, los ha entregado en vuestras manos; y vosotros los habéis matado con ira. Hasta el cielo ha llegado esto.

10 A nd now you plan to make the men and women of Judah and Jerusalem work hard for you. Do you not have sins of your own against the Lord your God?

Y ahora habéis determinado sujetar a vosotros los hijos de Judá y de Jerusalén por siervos y siervas; mas ¿no sois vosotros culpables contra el SEÑOR vuestro Dios?

11 N ow listen to me. Return the people whom you have taken from your brothers. For the burning anger of the Lord is against you.”

Oídme, pues, ahora, y volved a enviar los cautivos que habéis tomado de vuestros hermanos; porque la ira del furor del SEÑOR está contra vosotros.

12 T hen some of the leaders of the sons of Ephraim stood up against those who were coming from the battle. These leaders were Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai.

Entonces se levantaron algunos varones de los principales de los hijos de Efraín, Azarías hijo de Johanán, Berequías hijo de Mesilemot, Ezequías hijo de Salum, y Amasa hijo de Hadlai, contra los que venían de la guerra.

13 T hey said, “You must not bring the people in here. For you plan to bring guilt upon us against the Lord, adding to our sins and our guilt. We are already so guilty that His burning anger is against Israel.”

Y les dijeron: No traigáis acá los cautivos; porque el pecado contra el SEÑOR será sobre nosotros. Vosotros tratáis de añadir sobre nuestros pecados y sobre nuestras culpas, siendo muy grande nuestra culpa, y la ira del furor sobre Israel.

14 S o the men of war left the people and things taken from Judah in front of the leaders and all the people of Israel.

Entonces el ejército dejó los cautivos y la presa delante de los príncipes y de toda la multitud.

15 T hen the men who were chosen by name came and took the people of Judah. And they gave clothing to all of them who had none, using the clothes found among the things taken from Judah. They gave them clothes and shoes, and food and drink, and poured oil on them. They led all their weak ones on donkeys, and brought them to their brothers at Jericho, the city of palm trees. Then they returned to Samaria.

Y se levantaron los varones nombrados, y tomaron los cautivos, y vistieron del despojo a los que de ellos estaban desnudos; los vistieron y los calzaron, y les dieron de comer y de beber, y los ungieron, y condujeron en asnos a todos los flacos, y los llevaron hasta Jericó, la ciudad de las palmas, cerca de sus hermanos; y ellos volvieron a Samaria.

16 A t that time King Ahaz sent to the king of Assyria for help.

¶ En aquel tiempo envió a pedir el rey Acaz a los reyes de Asiria que le ayudaran.

17 F or the Edomites had come to fight Judah again, and carried people away.

Porque a más de esto, los idumeos habían venido y herido a los de Judá, y habían llevado cautivos.

18 T he Philistines also had come to fight against the cities of the valley and of the Negev of Judah. They had taken Beth-shemesh, Aijalon, Gederoth, Soco with its villages, Timnah with its villages, and Gimzo with its villages. And they came to live there.

Asimismo los filisteos se habían derramado por las ciudades de la llanura, y al mediodía de Judá, y habían tomado a Bet-semes, a Ajalón, Gederot, y Soco con sus aldeas, Timna también con sus aldeas, y Gimzo con sus aldeas; y habitaban en ellas.

19 F or the Lord brought trouble to Judah because of King Ahaz of Israel. Ahaz caused the people of Judah to sin and was not faithful to the Lord.

Porque el SEÑOR había humillado a Judá por causa de Acaz rey de Israel; por cuanto él había desnudado a Judá, y se había rebelado gravemente contra el SEÑOR.

20 S o King Tilgath-pilneser of Assyria came against him and brought him trouble instead of strength.

Y vino contra él Tilgat-pileser, rey de los asirios; pues lo redujo a estrechez, y no lo fortificó.

21 A haz took riches from the house of the Lord and from the house of the king and of the princes, and gave them to the king of Assyria. But it did not help him. The Sins and Death of Ahaz

Aunque despojó Acaz la Casa del SEÑOR, y la casa real, y las de los príncipes, para dar al rey de los asirios, con todo eso él no le ayudó.

22 I n the time of his trouble, this same King Ahaz became even less faithful to the Lord.

Además el rey Acaz en el tiempo que aquel le apuraba, añadió prevaricación contra el SEÑOR;

23 F or he gave gifts on the altar to the gods of Damascus who had beaten him in battle. He said, “Because the gods of the kings of Syria helped them, I will give gifts to them so they may help me.” But they were what destroyed him and all Israel.

porque sacrificó a los dioses de Damasco que le habían herido, y dijo: Pues que los dioses de los reyes de Siria les ayudan, yo también sacrificaré a ellos para que me ayuden; habiendo sido éstos su ruina, y la de todo Israel.

24 A haz gathered together the objects of the house of God and cut them in pieces. Then he closed the doors of the Lord’s house, and made altars for himself in every corner of Jerusalem.

A más de eso recogió Acaz los vasos de la Casa de Dios, y los quebró, y cerró las puertas de la Casa del SEÑOR, y se hizo altares en Jerusalén en todos los rincones.

25 I n every city of Judah he made high places to burn special perfume to other gods. And he made the Lord, the God of his fathers, very angry.

Hizo también lugares altos en todas las ciudades de Judá, para quemar incienso a los dioses ajenos, provocando a ira al SEÑOR Dios de sus padres.

26 N ow the rest of his acts and all his ways, from first to last, are written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.

Los demás hechos, y todos sus caminos, primeros y postreros, he aquí ello está escrito en el libro de los reyes de Judá y de Israel.

27 A haz died, and they buried him in the city of Jerusalem. They did not bring him into the graves of the kings of Israel. And Hezekiah his son ruled in his place.

Y durmió Acaz con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de Jerusalén; mas no le metieron en los sepulcros de los reyes de Israel; y reinó en su lugar Ezequías su hijo.
