1 T hen all the people took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah.

Entonces todo el pueblo de Judá tomó a Uzías, el cual era de dieciséis años, y lo pusieron por rey en lugar de Amasías su padre.

2 H e built Eloth and returned it to Judah after the king died.

Edificó él a Elot, y la restituyó a Judá después que el rey durmió con sus padres.

3 U zziah was sixteen years old when he became king. And he ruled fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jechiliah of Jerusalem.

De dieciséis años era Uzías cuando comenzó a reinar, y cincuenta y dos años reinó en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Jecolías, de Jerusalén.

4 U zziah did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. He did all that his father Amaziah had done.

E hizo lo recto ante los ojos del SEÑOR, conforme a todas las cosas que había hecho Amasías su padre.

5 H e kept on looking to God in the days of Zechariah, who had special wisdom from God and taught him in the things of God. And as long as he looked to the Lord, God made things go well for him.

Y persistió en buscar a Dios en los días de Zacarías, entendido en visiones de Dios; y en estos días que él buscó al SEÑOR, Dios le prosperó.

6 U zziah went out and made war against the Philistines. He broke down the wall of Gath and the wall of Jabneh and the wall of Ashdod. And he built cities in the land of Ashdod and among the Philistines.

Porque salió, y peleó contra los filisteos, y rompió el muro de Gat, el muro de Jabnia, y el muro de Asdod; y edificó ciudades en Asdod, entre los filisteos.

7 G od helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians who lived in Gur-baal, and against the Meunites.

Y Dios le dio ayuda contra los filisteos, y contra los árabes que habitaban en Gur-baal, y contra los Meunim.

8 T he Ammonites paid taxes to Uzziah. And his name was known as far as the land of Egypt, for he became very strong.

Y dieron los amonitas presentes a Uzías, y su nombre fue divulgado hasta la entrada de Egipto; porque fue altamente poderoso.

9 U zziah built towers in Jerusalem at the Corner Gate, at the Valley Gate, and at the place where the walls joined. And he made them strong.

Edificó también Uzías torres en Jerusalén, junto a la puerta del ángulo, y junto a la puerta del valle, y junto a las esquinas; y las fortificó.

10 H e built towers in the desert and dug many wells. For he had many animals, both in the valley and in the plain. He also had farmers and vine-keepers in the hill country and in the good growing fields, for he loved farming.

Asimismo edificó torres en el desierto, y abrió muchas cisternas; porque tuvo muchos ganados, así en los valles como en las vegas; y viñas, y labranzas, así en los montes como en los llanos fértiles; porque era amigo de la agricultura.

11 A nd Uzziah had an army ready for battle. It was divided by the number of names written down by Jeiel the writer and Maaseiah the captain, led by Hananiah, one of the king’s leaders.

Tuvo también Uzías escuadrones de guerreros, los cuales salían a la guerra en compañías, según que estaban por lista hecha por mano de Jehiel escriba y de Maasías gobernador, y por mano de Hananías, uno de los príncipes del rey.

12 T he whole number of the leaders of the family groups of powerful soldiers was 2, 600.

Todo el número de las cabezas de los padres, y de los valientes de gran valor, era dos mil seiscientos.

13 U nder their leading was an army of 307, 500, who could fight with great power, to help the king against those who hated them.

Y bajo la mano de éstos estaba el ejército de guerra, de trescientos siete mil quinientos guerreros poderosos y fuertes para ayudar al rey contra los enemigos.

14 U zziah had battle-coverings, spears, head-coverings, strong battle-clothes, bows, and slings using arrows and large stones made for all the army.

Y les aparejó Uzías para todo el ejército, escudos, lanzas, cascos, cotas, arcos, y hondas de tirar piedras.

15 I n Jerusalem he made large objects of war, planned by able men, to be on the towers and the corners. They were for shooting arrows and big stones. So Uzziah’s name became known in far away places. For he was helped by God in a very special way until he was strong. Uzziah Is Punished because of His Pride

E hizo en Jerusalén máquinas por industria de ingenieros, para que estuvieran en las torres y en los baluartes, para arrojar saetas y grandes piedras, y su fama se extendió lejos, porque se ayudó maravillosamente, hasta hacerse fuerte.

16 B ut when he became strong, Uzziah’s heart was so proud that his actions were sinful. He was not faithful to the Lord his God, for he went into the Lord’s house to burn special perfume on the altar of special perfume.

¶ Mas cuando fue fortificado, su corazón se enalteció hasta corromperse; porque se rebeló contra el SEÑOR su Dios, entrando en el templo del SEÑOR para quemar incienso en el altar del incienso.

17 T hen Azariah the religious leader went in after him, with eighty religious leaders of the Lord who were men strong in heart.

Y entró tras él el sacerdote Azarías, y con él ochenta sacerdotes del SEÑOR, de los valientes.

18 T hey went against King Uzziah and said to him, “It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn special perfume to the Lord. It should be done by the religious leaders, the sons of Aaron, who are set apart to burn special perfume. Get out of the holy place, for you have not been faithful. You will have no honor from the Lord God.”

Y se opusieron contra el rey Uzías, y le dijeron: No te corresponde a ti, oh Uzías, el quemar incienso al SEÑOR, sino a los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón, que son consagrados para quemarlo; sal del santuario, porque te has rebelado, y no te será para gloria delante del SEÑOR Dios.

19 T hen Uzziah was angry, and he had a dish in his hand for burning special perfume. While he was angry with the religious leaders, a bad skin disease broke out on his forehead in front of the religious leaders in the Lord’s house, beside the altar of special perfume.

Y se airó Uzías, que tenía el incienso en la mano para quemarlo; y en ésta su ira contra los sacerdotes, la lepra le salió en la frente delante de los sacerdotes en la Casa del SEÑOR, junto al altar del incienso.

20 A zariah the head religious leader and all the religious leaders looked at him and saw that he had a bad skin disease on his forehead. So they were quick to get him out of there, and he himself left in a hurry because the Lord had punished him.

Y le miró Azarías el sumo sacerdote, y todos los sacerdotes, y he aquí la lepra estaba en su frente; y le hicieron salir aprisa de aquel lugar; y él también se dio prisa a salir, porque el SEÑOR lo había herido.

21 K ing Uzziah had the bad skin disease to the day of his death. He lived in a separate house, suffering with the skin disease, for he was cut off from the house of the Lord. And his son Jotham was over the king’s house, ruling the people of the land.

Así el rey Uzías fue leproso hasta el día de su muerte, y habitó en una casa apartada, leproso, porque era cortado de la Casa del SEÑOR; y Jotam su hijo tuvo el cargo de la casa real, juzgando al pueblo de la tierra.

22 N ow the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first to last, were written by the man of God Isaiah, the son of Amoz.

Los demás hechos de Uzías, primeros y postreros, lo escribió Isaías el profeta, hijo de Amós.

23 U zziah died, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the grave which belonged to the kings. For they said, “He has a bad skin disease.” And Jotham his son became king in his place.

Y durmió Uzías con sus padres, y lo sepultaron con sus padres en el campo de los sepulcros reales; porque dijeron: Leproso es. Y reinó Jotam su hijo en lugar suyo.
