1 T he one who destroys has come against you, O Nineveh. Put men on the battle-walls. Watch the road. Be strong. Be ready for battle.

Subió destruidor contra ti; guarda la fortaleza, mira el camino, fortifica los lomos, fortalece mucho la fuerza.

2 F or the Lord will make Jacob great again, like the greatness of Israel, even when destroyers have destroyed them and their vine branches.

Porque el SEÑOR restituirá la gloria de Jacob como la gloria de Israel; porque vaciadores los vaciaron, y estropearon sus mugrones.

3 T he battle-coverings of his strong men are red. His men of war are dressed in red. The war-wagons shine like fire when they are made ready. The cypress spears are waved.

El escudo de sus valientes será bermejo, los varones de su ejército vestidos de grana; el carro como fuego de antorchas; el día que se aparejará, temblarán las hayas.

4 T he war-wagons race in the streets. They rush through the city. They look like fire and move like lightning.

Los carros harán locuras en las plazas, discurrirán por las calles; sus rostros como antorchas; correrán como relámpagos.

5 T he leaders are called. They lose their step as they go, and hurry to the wall. The battle-covering is set up.

El se acordará de sus valientes; andando tropezarán cuando se apresurarán a su muro, y la cubierta se aparejare.

6 T he river gates are opened, and the king’s house falls down.

Las puertas de los ríos se abrirán, y el palacio será destruido.

7 T he city is laid waste and the people are carried away. Her women servants are crying like doves, beating on their breasts.

Y la reina será cautiva; le mandarán que suba, y sus criadas la llevarán, gimiendo como palomas, batiendo sus pechos.

8 N ineveh is like a pool, where water runs away. “Stop! Stop!” they cry. But no one turns back.

Y fue Nínive de tiempo antiguo como estanque de aguas; mas ellos ahora huyen. Parad, parad gritarán; y ninguno mira atrás.

9 T ake the silver! Take the gold! For there is no end of the riches, every kind of thing of great worth.

Saquead plata, saquead oro; no hay fin de las riquezas; honra, más que todo ajuar de codicia.

10 E verything has been taken from her! Yes, she is an empty waste! Hearts are melting in fear and knees are knocking! All bodies suffer, and all their faces turn white!

Vacía, agotada, y despedazada está, y el corazón derretido; batimiento de rodillas, y dolor en los riñones, y los rostros de todos tomarán negrura.

11 W here is the home of the lions, the place where they feed their young, where the male and female and young lions went, with nothing to be afraid of?

¿Qué es de la morada de los leones, y de la majada de los cachorros de los leones, donde se recogía el león, y la leona, y los cachorros del león, y no había quien les pusiera miedo?

12 T he lion killed enough for his young, and for his female lions. He filled his home with food, with torn flesh.

El león arrebataba en abundancia para sus cachorros, y ahogaba para sus leonas, y henchía de presa sus cavernas, y de robo sus moradas.

13 “ I am against you,” says the Lord of All. “I will burn up your war-wagons in smoke. A sword will destroy your young lions. I will cut off your food from the land. And the voice of your men who came with news will never be heard again.”

He aquí, Yo hablo a ti, dice el SEÑOR de los ejércitos. Encenderé y reduciré a humo tus carros, y espada devorará tus leoncillos; y raeré de la tierra tu robo, y nunca más se oirá voz de tus embajadores.
