1 I n the spring, at the time when kings go out to battle, Joab led out the army. He destroyed the land of the sons of Ammon. And he gathered his army around Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem. Joab fought against Rabbah, and won.

Y aconteció a la vuelta del año, en el tiempo que suelen los reyes salir a la guerra, que Joab sacó las fuerzas del ejército, y destruyó la tierra de los hijos de Amón, y vino y cercó a Rabá. Mas David estaba en Jerusalén; y Joab batió a Rabá, y la destruyó.

2 T hen David took the crown from their king’s head. He found that its gold weighed as much as an older child. And there were stones of much worth in it. It was placed on David’s head. He brought out the riches of the city, a very large amount.

Y David tomó la corona de su rey de encima de su cabeza, y la halló de peso de un talento de oro, y había en ella piedras preciosas; y fue puesta sobre la cabeza de David. Y además de esto sacó de la ciudad un muy gran despojo.

3 H e brought out the people who were in it, and made them work with saws, iron picks, and axes. David did this to all the cities of the sons of Ammon. Then he and all the people returned to Jerusalem. Philistines’ Strong Men Destroyed

Sacó también al pueblo que estaba en ella, e hizo señorío sobre ellos haciéndoles trabajar con sierras, y con trillos de hierro, y segures. Lo mismo hizo David a todas las ciudades de los hijos de Amón. Y se volvió David con todo el pueblo a Jerusalén.

4 A fter this there was a war with the Philistines at Gezer. Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai, who was one of the sons of those who were very tall and strong. And the Philistines were put under their power.

¶ Después de esto aconteció que se levantó guerra en Gezer con los filisteos; e hirió Sibecai, el husatita a Sipai, del linaje de los gigantes; y fueron humillados.

5 T here was war with the Philistines again. Elhanan the son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite. Goliath’s spear was as big as the cross-piece of a cloth-maker.

Y volvió a levantarse guerra con los filisteos; e hirió Elhanán hijo de Jair a Lahmi, hermano de Goliat, el geteo, el asta de cuya lanza era como un rodillo de un telar.

6 A gain there was war at Gath. A very tall man was there who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in all. He was a son of those who were very tall and strong.

Y volvió a haber guerra en Gat, donde hubo un hombre de gran estatura, el cual tenía seis dedos en sus pies y seis dedos en sus manos, en total veinticuatro; y también era hijo del gigante.

7 W hen he spoke against Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea, David’s brother, killed him.

Denostó él a Israel, mas lo hirió Jonatán, hijo de Simea hermano de David.

8 T hese were sons of the people of Gath who were very tall and strong. And they were killed by David and his servants.

Estos fueron hijos del gigante en Gat, los cuales cayeron por mano de David y de sus siervos.
