1 T he plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.

¶ Del hombre son las preparaciones del corazón; mas del SEÑOR la respuesta de la lengua.

2 A ll the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the thoughts of the heart.

¶ Todos los caminos del hombre son limpios en su opinión; mas el SEÑOR pesa los espíritus.

3 T rust your work to the Lord, and your plans will work out well.

¶ Encomienda al SEÑOR tus obras, y tus pensamientos serán afirmados.

4 T he Lord has made all things for His own plans, even the sinful for the day of trouble.

¶ Todas las cosas ha hecho el SEÑOR por sí mismo, y aun al impío para el día malo.

5 E veryone who is proud in heart is a shame to the Lord. For sure, that one will be punished.

¶ Abominación es al SEÑOR todo altivo de corazón; el pacto que él haga, no será sin castigo.

6 S in has been paid for by loving-kindness and truth. The fear of the Lord keeps one away from sin.

¶ Por la misericordia y la verdad será purgada la iniquidad; y con el temor del SEÑOR se aparta del mal.

7 W hen the ways of a man are pleasing to the Lord, He makes even those who hate him to be at peace with him.

¶ Cuando los caminos del hombre son agradables al SEÑOR, aun a sus enemigos hacen estar en paz con él.

8 A little earned in a right way is better than much earned in a wrong way.

¶ Mejor es lo poco con justicia, que la muchedumbre de frutos con injusticia.

9 T he mind of a man plans his way, but the Lord shows him what to do.

¶ El corazón del hombre piensa su camino; mas el SEÑOR endereza sus pasos.

10 T he lips of the king should decide as God would. His mouth should not sin in deciding what is right or wrong.

¶ Sentencia divina está en los labios del rey; en juicio no prevaricará su boca.

11 W hat is fair in telling the weight of something belongs to the Lord. He cares about all the weights of the bag.

¶ Peso y balanzas de juicio son del SEÑOR; obra suya son todas las pesas de la bolsa.

12 I t is a hated thing for kings to do what is wrong. For a throne is built on what is right.

¶ Abominación es a los reyes hacer impiedad; porque con justicia será afirmado el trono.

13 L ips that speak what is right and good are the joy of kings, and he who speaks the truth is loved.

¶ Los labios justos son el contentamiento de los reyes; y aman al que habla lo recto.

14 T he anger of a king carries death, but a wise man will quiet it.

¶ La ira del rey es mensajero de muerte; mas el hombre sabio la evitará.

15 L ife is in the light of a king’s face, and his favor is like a cloud bringing the spring rain.

En la luz del rostro del rey está la vida; y su benevolencia es como nube de lluvia tardía.

16 T o get wisdom is much better than getting gold. To get understanding should be chosen instead of silver.

¶ Mejor es adquirir sabiduría que oro preciado; y adquirir inteligencia vale más que la plata.

17 T he road of the faithful turns away from sin. He who watches his way keeps his life.

¶ El camino de los rectos es apartarse del mal; el que guarda su camino guarda su alma.

18 P ride comes before being destroyed and a proud spirit comes before a fall.

¶ Antes del quebrantamiento es la soberbia; y antes de la caída la altivez de espíritu.

19 I t is better to be poor in spirit among poor people, than to divide the riches that were taken with the proud.

¶ Mejor es humillar el espíritu con los humildes, que partir despojos con los soberbios.

20 H e who listens to the Word will find good, and happy is he who trusts in the Lord.

¶ El entendido en la palabra, hallará el bien; y bienaventurado el que confía en el SEÑOR.

21 T he wise in heart will be called understanding. And to speak in a pleasing way helps people know what you say is right.

¶ El sabio de corazón es llamado entendido; y la dulzura de labios aumentará la doctrina.

22 U nderstanding is a well of life to him who has it, but to speak strong words to fools is of no use.

¶ Manantial de vida es el entendimiento al que lo posee; mas la erudición de los locos es locura.

23 T he heart of the wise has power over his mouth and adds learning to his lips.

¶ El corazón del sabio hace prudente su boca; y con sus labios aumenta la doctrina.

24 P leasing words are like honey. They are sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

¶ Panal de miel son los dichos suaves; suavidad al alma y medicina a los huesos.

25 T here is a way that looks right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

¶ Hay camino que es derecho al parecer del hombre, mas su salida son caminos de muerte.

26 A workman’s hunger works for him. The need of his mouth pushes him on.

¶ El alma del que trabaja, trabaja para sí; porque su boca le constriñe.

27 A man of no worth looks for wrong-doing. His words are like burning fire.

¶ El hombre de Belial cava en busca del mal; y en sus labios hay como llama de fuego.

28 A bad man spreads trouble. One who hurts people with bad talk separates good friends.

El hombre perverso levanta contienda; y el chismoso aparta los príncipes.

29 A man who hurts people tempts his neighbor to do the same, and leads him in a way that is not good.

¶ El hombre malo lisonjea a su prójimo, y le hace andar por el camino no bueno;

30 H e who winks his eyes plans to do bad things. He who closes his lips allows sinful things to happen.

cierra sus ojos para pensar perversidades; mueve sus labios, efectúa el mal.

31 H air that is turning white is like a crown of honor. It is found in the way of being right with God.

¶ Corona de honra es la vejez, si se hallara en el camino de justicia.

32 H e who is slow to anger is better than the powerful. And he who rules his spirit is better than he who takes a city.

¶ Mejor es el que tarde se aíra que el fuerte; y el que se enseñorea de su espíritu, que el que toma una ciudad.

33 M an decides by throwing an object into the lap, but it is the Lord only who decides.

¶ La suerte se echa en el regazo; mas del SEÑOR es el juicio de ella.
