1 I n the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah, Ahaz the son of Jotham began to rule as the king of Judah.

En el año diecisiete de Peka hijo de Remalías, comenzó a reinar Acaz hijo de Jotam rey de Judá.

2 A haz was twenty years old when he became king. And he ruled for sixteen years in Jerusalem. He did not do what was right in the eyes of the Lord his God, as his father David had done.

Cuando comenzó a reinar Acaz, era de veinte años, y reinó en Jerusalén dieciséis años; y no hizo lo recto ante los ojos del SEÑOR su Dios, como David su padre;

3 B ut he walked in the way of the kings of Israel. He even gave his sons as a burnt gift. This was very sinful and was done by the nations which the Lord had driven out from the people of Israel.

antes anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, y aun hizo pasar por el fuego a su hijo, según las abominaciones de los gentiles que el SEÑOR echó de delante de los hijos de Israel.

4 A nd Ahaz gave gifts in worship and burned special perfume on the high places, on the hills, and under every green tree.

Asimismo sacrificó, y quemó incienso en los altos, y sobre los collados, y debajo de todo árbol umbroso.

5 T hen King Rezin of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, came up to Jerusalem to fight a war. Their armies closed in around Ahaz, but they could not win the battle against him.

Entonces Rezín rey de Siria, y Peka hijo de Remalías rey de Israel, subieron a Jerusalén para hacer guerra, y cercar a Acaz; mas no pudieron tomarla.

6 A t that time King Rezin of Syria took back Elath for Syria. And he drove all the men of Judah out of Elath. The Syrians came to Elath, and have lived there to this day.

En aquel tiempo Rezín rey de Siria restituyó Elat a Siria, y echó a los Judíos de Elat; y los Sirios vinieron a Elat, y habitaron allí hasta hoy.

7 S o Ahaz sent men with news to King Tiglath-pileser of Assyria, saying, “I am your servant and your son. Come up and save me from the king of Syria and the king of Israel. They are fighting against me.”

Entonces Acaz envió embajadores a Tiglat-pileser rey de Asiria, diciendo: Yo soy tu siervo y tu hijo; sube, y defiéndeme de mano del rey de Siria, y de mano del rey de Israel, que se han levantado contra mí.

8 A nd Ahaz took the silver and gold from the house of the Lord and the storerooms of the king’s house, and sent a gift to the king of Assyria.

Y tomando Acaz la plata y el oro que se halló en la Casa del SEÑOR, y en los tesoros de la casa real, envió al rey de Asiria soborno.

9 S o the king of Assyria listened to him and went up against Damascus. He took it in battle, and took its people away against their will to Kir. And he put Rezin to death.

Y le oyó el rey de Asiria; y subió el rey de Asiria contra Damasco, y la tomó, y transportó los moradores a Cirene, y mató a Rezín.

10 K ing Ahaz went to Damascus to meet King Tiglath-pileser of Assyria. He saw the altar at Damascus. And King Ahaz sent to Urijah the religious leader the plans of the altar and a small object made to look just like it.

¶ Y fue el rey Acaz a encontrar a Tiglat-pileser rey de Asiria en Damasco; y viendo el rey Acaz el altar que estaba en Damasco, envió a Urías el sacerdote el diseño y la descripción del altar, conforme a toda su hechura.

11 S o Urijah the religious leader built an altar, following all the plans King Ahaz had sent from Damascus. Urijah made it before King Ahaz came from Damascus.

Y Urías el sacerdote edificó el altar; conforme a todo lo que el rey Acaz había enviado de Damasco, así lo hizo el sacerdote Urías, entre tanto que el rey Acaz venía de Damasco.

12 W hen the king came from Damascus, he saw the altar and went up to it.

Y luego que vino el rey de Damasco, y vio el altar, se acercó el rey a él, y sacrificó en él;

13 T here he burned his burnt gift and his grain gift. He poured his drink gift and put the blood of his peace gift on the altar.

y encendió su holocausto, y su presente, y derramó sus libaciones, y esparció la sangre de sus pacíficos junto al altar.

14 H e took the brass altar which was before the Lord in front of the house, between his altar and the Lord’s house, and he put it on the north side of his altar.

Y el altar de bronce que estaba delante del SEÑOR, lo hizo acercar delante de la frontera de la Casa, entre el altar y el templo del SEÑOR, y lo puso al lado del altar hacia el aquilón.

15 T hen King Ahaz told Urijah the religious leader, “Upon the large altar, give the morning burnt gift, the evening grain gift, and the king’s burnt gift and his grain gift. Give them with the burnt gifts of all the people of the land and their grain gifts and drink gifts. Put on it all the blood of the burnt gifts given in worship. But the brass altar will be for me to go to when I ask the Lord what should be done.”

Y mandó el rey Acaz al sacerdote Urías, diciendo: En el gran altar encenderás el holocausto de la mañana y el presente de la tarde, y el holocausto del rey y su presente, y asimismo el holocausto de todo el pueblo de la tierra y su presente, y sus libaciones; y toda sangre de holocausto, y toda sangre de sacrificio, esparcirás junto a él; y el altar de bronce será mío para consultar en él.

16 U rijah the religious leader did all that King Ahaz told him.

E hizo el sacerdote Urías conforme a todas las cosas que el rey Acaz le mandó.

17 T hen King Ahaz cut off the pillars and took the water pots away from them. He took the big brass pool off of the brass bulls, and put it down on stone.

Y cortó el rey Acaz las molduras de las basas, y les quitó las fuentes; quitó también el mar de sobre los bueyes de bronce que estaban debajo de él, y lo puso sobre el solado de piedra.

18 H e took from the house of the Lord the covered way they had built in the house, and the king’s gate because of the king of Assyria.

Asimismo la tienda del sábado que habían edificado en la Casa, y el pasadizo de afuera del rey, los mudó a las espaldas de la Casa del SEÑOR, por amor del rey de Asiria.

19 N ow the rest of the acts of Ahaz are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah.

Los demás hechos de Acaz que hizo, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

20 A haz died, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his son Hezekiah ruled in his place.

Y durmió el rey Acaz con sus padres y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David; y reinó en su lugar Ezequías su hijo.
