1 I n those days Hezekiah became sick and was near death. Isaiah the man of God, the son of Amoz, came to him and said, “The Lord says, ‘Make those of your house ready, for you will die and not live.’”

En aquellos días cayó Ezequías enfermo para morir; y vino a él Isaías Profeta, hijo de Amoz, y le dijo: El SEÑOR dice así: Ordena tu casa, porque tú morirás, y no vivirás.

2 T hen Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the Lord,

Entonces volvió Ezequías su rostro a la pared, e hizo oración al SEÑOR.

3 a nd said, “O Lord, I ask you from my heart to remember now how I have walked with You in truth and with a whole heart. I have done what is good in Your eyes.” And Hezekiah cried with a bitter cry.

Y dijo: Oh SEÑOR, te ruego te acuerdes ahora que he andado delante de ti en verdad y con íntegro corazón; y que he hecho lo que ha sido agradable delante de tus ojos. Y lloró Ezequías con gran lloro.

4 T hen the Word of the Lord came to Isaiah, saying,

Entonces vino palabra del SEÑOR a Isaías, diciendo:

5 “ Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘The Lord, the God of your father David, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. See, I will add fifteen years to your life.

Ve, y di a Ezequías: El SEÑOR Dios de David tu padre dice así: Tu oración he oído, y tus lágrimas he visto; he aquí que yo añado a tus días quince años.

6 A nd I will take you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria. I will fight for this city.”’”

Y te libraré, y a esta ciudad, de mano del rey de Asiria; y a esta ciudad ampararé.

7 “ This is the special thing for you to see from the Lord, that the Lord will do what He has said:

Y esto te será señal de parte del SEÑOR, que el SEÑOR hará esto, que ha dicho:

8 S ee the shadow on the steps, which has gone down with the sun on the steps of Ahaz. I will make it go back ten steps.” So the sun’s shadow went back the ten steps it had gone down.

He aquí, que yo vuelvo atrás la sombra de los grados, que ha descendido en el reloj de Acaz por el Sol, diez grados. Y el Sol fue tornado diez grados atrás, por los cuales había ya descendido.

9 T his is the writing of King Hezekiah of Judah, after he had been sick and became well again:

Escritura de Ezequías rey de Judá, de cuando enfermó y sanó de su enfermedad.

10 I said, “Half-way through my life I am to go through the gates of the place of the dead. The rest of my years have been kept from me.”

Yo dije: En el cortamiento de mis días iré a las puertas del Seol, privado soy del resto de mis años.

11 I said, “I will not see the Lord, the Lord in the land of the living. I will not look upon man any more among the people of the world.

Dije: No veré a JAH, a JAH en la tierra de los que viven; ya no veré más hombre con los moradores del mundo.

12 M y house is pulled up like a shepherd’s tent and taken from me. I have rolled up my life like a cloth-maker. He cuts me off from the cloth He is making. From day to night You make an end of me.

Mi morada ha sido movida, y traspasada de mí, como tienda de pastor, cortó mi vida como el tejedor; me ha cortado con la enfermedad; entre el día y la noche me consumirás.

13 I waited for help until morning. Like a lion He breaks all my bones. From day to night You make an end of me.

Contaba yo hasta la mañana. Como un león molió todos mis huesos; de la mañana a la noche me acabarás.

14 I make noise like the birds. I cry like a dove. My eyes are tired from looking up. O Lord, I am having a hard time. Keep me safe.

Como la grulla, y como la golondrina me quejaba; gemía como la paloma; alzaba en lo alto mis ojos: Señor, violencia padezco; confórtame.

15 “ But what can I say? For He has spoken to me, and He Himself has done it. I will walk with care all my years because my soul is bitter.

¿Qué diré? El que me lo dijo, él mismo lo hizo. Andaré temblando con amargura de mi alma todos los años de mi vida.

16 O Lord, by these things men live. And in all these is the life of my spirit. O heal me, and let me live!

Señor, aun a todos los que vivirán, en estos quince años anunciaré la vida de mi espíritu en ellos; y cómo me hiciste dormir, y después me has dado vida.

17 S ee, it was for my own well-being that I was bitter. But You have kept my soul from the grave that destroys. You have put all my sins behind Your back.

He aquí, amargura amarga para mí en la paz; mas a ti te alegró librar mi vida del hoyo de corrupción, porque echaste tras tus espaldas todos mis pecados.

18 T he place of the dead cannot thank You. Death cannot praise You. Those who go down to the grave cannot hope that You will be faithful.

Porque el Seol no te confesará, ni te alabará la muerte; ni los que descienden en el hoyo esperarán tu verdad.

19 I t is the living who give thanks to You, as I do today. A father tells his sons about how faithful You are.

El que vive, el que vive, éste te confesará, como yo hoy. El padre hará a los hijos notoria tu verdad.

20 T he Lord will save me. And we will sing my songs with harps all the days of our life in the house of the Lord.”

El SEÑOR está listo para salvarme; por tanto cantaremos nuestros Salmos en la Casa del SEÑOR todos los días de nuestra vida.

21 N ow Isaiah had said, “Let them take a cake of figs and put it on the sore, that he may get well.”

Dijo pues Isaías: Tomen masa de higos, y pónganla en la llaga, y sanará.

22 T hen Hezekiah had said, “What is the special thing to see, that I will go up to the house of the Lord?”

Y Ezequías había dicho ¿Qué señal será que tengo que subir a la Casa del SEÑOR?
