1 I n those days Hezekiah became sick and was near death. Isaiah the man of God, the son of Amoz, came to him and said, “The Lord says, ‘Make those of your house ready, for you will die and not live.’”

EN aquellos días cayó Ezechîas enfermo para morir. Y vino á él Isaías profeta, hijo de Amoz, y díjole: Jehová dice así: Ordena tu casa, porque tú morirás, y no vivirás.

2 T hen Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the Lord,

Entonces volvió Ezechîas su rostro á la pared, é hizo oración á Jehová.

3 a nd said, “O Lord, I ask you from my heart to remember now how I have walked with You in truth and with a whole heart. I have done what is good in Your eyes.” And Hezekiah cried with a bitter cry.

Y dijo: Oh Jehová, ruégote te acuerdes ahora que he andado delante de ti en verdad y con íntegro corazón, y que he hecho lo que ha sido agradable delante de tus ojos. Y lloró Ezechîas con gran lloro.

4 T hen the Word of the Lord came to Isaiah, saying,

Entonces fué palabra de Jehová á Isaías, diciendo:

5 “ Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘The Lord, the God of your father David, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. See, I will add fifteen years to your life.

Ve, y di á Ezechîas: Jehová Dios de David tu padre dice así: Tu oración he oído, y visto tus lágrimas: he aquí que yo añado á tus días quince años.

6 A nd I will take you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria. I will fight for this city.”’”

Y te libraré, y á esta ciudad, de mano del rey de Asiria; y á esta ciudad ampararé.

7 “ This is the special thing for you to see from the Lord, that the Lord will do what He has said:

Y esto te será señal de parte de Jehová, que Jehová hará esto que ha dicho:

8 S ee the shadow on the steps, which has gone down with the sun on the steps of Ahaz. I will make it go back ten steps.” So the sun’s shadow went back the ten steps it had gone down.

He aquí que yo vuelvo atrás la sombra de los grados, que ha descendido en el reloj de Achâz por el sol, diez grados. Y el sol fué tornado diez grados atrás, por los cuales había ya descendido.

9 T his is the writing of King Hezekiah of Judah, after he had been sick and became well again:

Escritura de Ezechîas rey de Judá, de cuando enfermó y sanó de su enfermedad.

10 I said, “Half-way through my life I am to go through the gates of the place of the dead. The rest of my years have been kept from me.”

Yo dije: En el medio de mis días iré á las puertas del sepulcro: Privado soy del resto de mis años.

11 I said, “I will not see the Lord, the Lord in the land of the living. I will not look upon man any more among the people of the world.

Dije: No veré á JAH, á JAH en la tierra de los que viven: Ya no veré más hombre con los moradores del mundo.

12 M y house is pulled up like a shepherd’s tent and taken from me. I have rolled up my life like a cloth-maker. He cuts me off from the cloth He is making. From day to night You make an end of me.

Mi morada ha sido movida y traspasada de mí, como tienda de pastor. Como el tejedor corté mi vida; cortaráme con la enfermedad; Me consumirás entre el día y la noche.

13 I waited for help until morning. Like a lion He breaks all my bones. From day to night You make an end of me.

Contaba yo hasta la mañana. Como un león molió todos mis huesos: De la mañana á la noche me acabarás.

14 I make noise like the birds. I cry like a dove. My eyes are tired from looking up. O Lord, I am having a hard time. Keep me safe.

Como la grulla y como la golondrina me quejaba; Gemía como la paloma: alzaba en lo alto mis ojos: Jehová, violencia padezco; confórtame.

15 “ But what can I say? For He has spoken to me, and He Himself has done it. I will walk with care all my years because my soul is bitter.

¿Qué diré? El que me lo dijo, él mismo lo ha hecho. Andaré recapacitando en la amargura de mi alma todos los años de mi vida.

16 O Lord, by these things men live. And in all these is the life of my spirit. O heal me, and let me live!

Oh Señor, sobre ellos vivirán tus piedades, Y á todos diré consistir en ellas la vida de mi espíritu; Pues tú me restablecerás, y me harás que viva.

17 S ee, it was for my own well-being that I was bitter. But You have kept my soul from the grave that destroys. You have put all my sins behind Your back.

He aquí amargura grande me sobrevino en la paz: Mas á ti plugo librar mi vida del hoyo de corrupción. Porque echaste tras tus espaldas todos mis pecados.

18 T he place of the dead cannot thank You. Death cannot praise You. Those who go down to the grave cannot hope that You will be faithful.

Porque el sepulcro no te celebrará, ni te alabará la muerte; Ni los que descienden al hoyo esperarán tu verdad.

19 I t is the living who give thanks to You, as I do today. A father tells his sons about how faithful You are.

El que vive, el que vive, éste te confesará, como yo hoy: El padre hará notoria tu verdad á los hijos.

20 T he Lord will save me. And we will sing my songs with harps all the days of our life in the house of the Lord.”

Jehová para salvarme; Por tanto cantaremos nuestros salmos En la casa de Jehová todos los días de nuestra vida.

21 N ow Isaiah had said, “Let them take a cake of figs and put it on the sore, that he may get well.”

Y había dicho Isaías: Tomen masa de higos, y pónganla en la llaga, y sanará.

22 T hen Hezekiah had said, “What is the special thing to see, that I will go up to the house of the Lord?”

Había asimismo dicho Ezechîas: ¿Qué señal tendré de que he de subir á la casa de Jehová?
