1 I n those days Hezekiah became sick and was near death. Isaiah the man of God, the son of Amoz, came to him and said, “The Lord says, ‘Make those of your house ready, for you will die and not live.’”

În vremea aceea, Ezechia a fost bolnav pe moarte. Proorocul Isaia, fiul lui Amoţ, a venit la el, şi i -a zis:,, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:, Pune-ţi în rînduială casa, căci vei muri, şi nu vei mai trăi.``

2 T hen Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the Lord,

Ezechia s'a întors cu faţa la părete, şi a făcut Domnului următoarea rugăciune:

3 a nd said, “O Lord, I ask you from my heart to remember now how I have walked with You in truth and with a whole heart. I have done what is good in Your eyes.” And Hezekiah cried with a bitter cry.

Doamne, adu-Ţi aminte că am umblat înaintea Ta cu credincioşie şi inimă curată, şi am făcut ce este bine înaintea Ta!`` Şi Ezechia a vărsat multe lacrămi.

4 T hen the Word of the Lord came to Isaiah, saying,

Atunci cuvîntul Domnului a vorbit lui Isaia astfel:

5 “ Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘The Lord, the God of your father David, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. See, I will add fifteen years to your life.

Du-te, şi spune lui Ezechia:, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul tatălui tău David:, Am auzit rugăciunea ta şi am văzut lacrămile tale. Iată că voi mai adăuga încă cincisprezece ani la zilele vieţii tale.

6 A nd I will take you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria. I will fight for this city.”’”

Te voi izbăvi pe tine şi cetatea aceasta, din mîna împăratului Asiriei; voi ocroti cetatea aceasta.

7 “ This is the special thing for you to see from the Lord, that the Lord will do what He has said:

Şi iată semnul din partea Domnului după care vei cunoaşte că Domnul va împlini cuvîntul pe care l -a rostit:

8 S ee the shadow on the steps, which has gone down with the sun on the steps of Ahaz. I will make it go back ten steps.” So the sun’s shadow went back the ten steps it had gone down.

voi întoarce înapoi cu zece trepte umbra treptelor cu care s'a pogorît soarele pe cadranul lui Ahaz.`` Şi soarele s'a dat înapoi cu zece trepte de pe treptele pe cari se pogorîse.

9 T his is the writing of King Hezekiah of Judah, after he had been sick and became well again:

Cîntarea lui Ezechia, împăratul lui Iuda, cu prilejul bolii şi însănătoşerii lui.

10 I said, “Half-way through my life I am to go through the gates of the place of the dead. The rest of my years have been kept from me.”

Ziceam:,În cei mai buni ani ai vieţii mele trebuie să mă duc la porţile locuinţei morţilor! Sînt pedepsit cu perderea celorlalţi ani ai mei, cari-mi mai rămîn!

11 I said, “I will not see the Lord, the Lord in the land of the living. I will not look upon man any more among the people of the world.

Ziceam:, Nu voi mai vedea pe Domnul, pe Domnul, în pămîntul celor vii; nu voi mai vedea pe niciun om în locuinţa morţilor!

12 M y house is pulled up like a shepherd’s tent and taken from me. I have rolled up my life like a cloth-maker. He cuts me off from the cloth He is making. From day to night You make an end of me.

Locuinţa mea este luată şi mutată dela mine, ca o colibă de păstori. Îmi simt firul vieţii tăiat ca de un ţesător, care m'ar rupe din ţesătura lui. Pînă deseară îmi vei pune capăt.

13 I waited for help until morning. Like a lion He breaks all my bones. From day to night You make an end of me.

Am strigat pînă dimineaţa; ca un leu, îmi zdrobise toate oasele! Pînă deseară îmi vei pune capăt.

14 I make noise like the birds. I cry like a dove. My eyes are tired from looking up. O Lord, I am having a hard time. Keep me safe.

Ciripeam ca o rîndunea, croncăneam ca un cocor, şi gemeam ca o porumbiţă. Ochii-mi priveau topiţi spre cer:, Doamne, sînt în necaz, ajută-mă!`

15 “ But what can I say? For He has spoken to me, and He Himself has done it. I will walk with care all my years because my soul is bitter.

Ce să mai spun? El mi -a răspuns şi m'a ascultat. Acum voi umbla smerit pînă la capătul anilor mei, dupăce am fost întristat astfel.

16 O Lord, by these things men live. And in all these is the life of my spirit. O heal me, and let me live!

Doamne, prin îndurarea Ta se bucură omul de viaţă, prin ea mai am şi eu suflare, căci Tu mă faci sănătos şi îmi dai iarăş viaţa.

17 S ee, it was for my own well-being that I was bitter. But You have kept my soul from the grave that destroys. You have put all my sins behind Your back.

Iată, chiar suferinţele mele erau spre mîntuirea mea; Tu ai găsit plăcere să-mi scoţi sufletul din groapa putrezirii. Căci ai aruncat înapoia Ta toate păcatele mele!

18 T he place of the dead cannot thank You. Death cannot praise You. Those who go down to the grave cannot hope that You will be faithful.

Căci nu locuinţa morţilor Te laudă, nu moartea Te măreşte, şi cei ce s'au pogorît în groapă nu mai nădăjduiesc în credincioşia Ta.

19 I t is the living who give thanks to You, as I do today. A father tells his sons about how faithful You are.

Ci cel viu, da, cel viu Te laudă, ca mine astăzi. Tatăl face cunoscut copiilor săi credincioşia Ta.

20 T he Lord will save me. And we will sing my songs with harps all the days of our life in the house of the Lord.”

Domnul m'a mîntuit! De aceea, în toate zilele vieţii noastre vom suna din coardele instrumentelor noastre, în Casa Domnului.``

21 N ow Isaiah had said, “Let them take a cake of figs and put it on the sore, that he may get well.”

Isaia zisese:,, Să se aducă o turtă de smochine, şi s'o întindă peste bubă; şi Ezechia va trăi.``

22 T hen Hezekiah had said, “What is the special thing to see, that I will go up to the house of the Lord?”

Şi Ezechia zisese:,, După ce semn voi cunoaşte că mă voi sui la Casa Domnului?``
