1 O Lord, take me away from sinful men. Keep me safe from men who want to hurt others.

(Către mai marele cîntăreţilor. Un psalm al lui David.) Scapă-mă, Doamne, de oamenii cei răi! Păzeşte-mă de oamenii asupritori,

2 T hey make sinful plans in their hearts. They always start wars.

cari cugetă lucruri rele în inima lor, şi sînt totdeauna gata să aţîţe războiul!

3 T hey make their tongues sharp like a snake’s. And the poison of a snake is under their lips.

Ei îşi ascut limba ca un şarpe, au pe buze o otravă de năpîrcă. -

4 O Lord, keep me from the hands of the sinful. Keep me safe from men who want to hurt others and have planned to trip my feet.

Păzeşte-mă, Doamne, de mîinile celui rău! Fereşte-mă de oamenii asupritori, cari se gîndesc să mă doboare!

5 T he proud have hidden a trap for me. With ropes they have spread a net. They have set traps for me beside the road.

Nişte îngîmfaţi îmi întind curse şi laţuri, pun reţele dealungul drumului, şi îmi întind capcane. -(Oprire).

6 I said to the Lord, “You are my God. Listen to the voice of my prayers, O Lord.

Eu zic Domnului:,, Tu eşti Dumnezeul meu! Ia aminte, Doamne, la glasul rugăciunilor mele!

7 O God the Lord, the strength that saves me, You have covered my head in the day of battle.

Doamne, Dumnezeule, tăria mîntuirii mele, Tu-mi acoperi capul în ziua luptei.``

8 O Lord, do not give the sinful what they want. Do not let their plans work, or they will be honored.

Nu împlini, Doamne, dorinţele celui rău, nu lăsa să -i izbutească planurile, ca să nu se fălească! -(Oprire).

9 “ As for those who gather around me, may the wrong-doing of their lips come upon their heads.

Asupra capului celor ce mă înconjoară să cadă nelegiuirea buzelor lor!

10 M ay burning coals fall upon them. May they be thrown into the fire, into deep holes, and rise no more.

Cărbuni aprinşi să cadă peste ei! În foc să fie aruncaţi, în adîncuri, de unde să nu se mai scoale!

11 D o not let the man whose talking hurts people stand in the land. May trouble hurry to catch and destroy the man who wants to hurt others.”

Omul cu limba mincinoasă nu se întăreşte pe pămînt, şi pe omul asupritor, nenorocirea îl paşte şi -l duce la pierzanie.

12 I know that the Lord will stand by those who suffer and do what is right for the poor.

Ştiu că Domnul face dreptate celui obijduit, dreptate celor lipsiţi.

13 F or sure those who are right and good will give thanks to Your name. Those who are right will live with You.

Da, cei neprihăniţi vor lăuda Numele Tău, oamenii fără prihană vor locui înaintea Ta.
