1 E arly in the morning all the head religious leaders of the Jews and the leaders of the people gathered together and talked about how they could put Jesus to death.

Cînd s'a făcut ziuă, toţi preoţii cei mai de seamă şi bătrînii norodului au ţinut sfat împotriva lui Isus, ca să -L omoare.

2 T hey tied Him and took Him away. Then they handed Him over to Pilate who was the leader of the country.

După ce L-au legat, L-au dus şi L-au dat în mîna dregătorului Pilat din Pont.

3 T hen Judas was sorry he had handed Jesus over when he saw that Jesus was going to be killed. He took back the thirty pieces of silver and gave it to the head religious leaders and the other leaders.

Atunci Iuda, vînzătorul, cînd a văzut că Isus a fost osîndit la moarte, s'a căit, a dus înapoi cei treizeci de arginţi, i -a dat preoţilor celor mai de seamă şi bătrînilor,

4 H e said, “I have sinned because I handed over a Man Who has done no wrong.” And they said, “What is that to us? That is your own doing.”

şi a zis:,, Am păcătuit, căci am vîndut sînge nevinovat.``,, Ce ne pasă nouă?`` i-au răspuns ei.,, Treaba ta.``

5 H e threw the money down in the house of God and went outside. Then he went away and killed himself by hanging from a rope.

Iuda a aruncat arginţii în Templu, şi s'a dus de s'a spînzurat.

6 T he head religious leaders took the money. They said, “It is against the Law to put this money in the house of God. This money has bought blood.”

Preoţii cei mai de seamă au strîns arginţii, şi au zis:,, Nu este îngăduit să -i punem în vistieria Templului, fiindcă sînt preţ de sînge.``

7 T hey talked about what to do with the money. Then they decided to buy land to bury strangers in.

Şi dupăce s'au sfătuit, au cumpărat cu banii aceia,,Ţarina olarului,`` ca loc pentru îngroparea străinilor.

8 B ecause of this, that land is called the Field of Blood to this day.

Iată de ce ţarina aceea a fost numită pînă în ziua de azi:,,Ţarina sîngelui.``

9 I t happened as the early preacher Jeremiah said it would happen. He said, “And they took the thirty pieces of silver which was the price the Jews said they would pay for Him.

Atunci s'a împlinit ce fusese vestit prin proorocul Ieremia, care zice:,, Au luat cei treizeci de arginţi, preţul celui preţuit, pe care l-au preţuit unii din fiii lui Israel;

10 A nd they bought land to bury strangers in, as the Lord told me.”

şi i-au dat pe Ţarina olarului, după cum îmi poruncise Domnul.``

11 T hen Jesus stood in front of the leader of the country. The leader asked Jesus, “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus said to him, “What you say is true.”

Isus S'a înfăţişat înaintea dregătorului. Dregătorul L -a întrebat:,, Eşti Tu,Împăratul Iudeilor?``,, Da``, i -a răspuns Isus,,, sînt.``

12 W hen the head religious leaders and the other leaders spoke against Him, He said nothing.

Dar n'a răspuns nimic la învinuirile preoţilor celor mai de seamă şi bătrînilor.

13 T hen Pilate said to Him, “Do You not hear all these things they are saying against You?”

Atunci Pilat I -a zis:,, N'auzi de cîte lucruri Te învinuiesc ei?``

14 J esus did not say a word. The leader was much surprised and wondered about it. Jesus or Barabbas Is to Go Free

Isus nu i -a răspuns la niciun cuvînt, aşa că se mira foarte mult dregătorul.

15 A t the special supper each year the leader of the country would always let one person who was in prison go free. It would be the one the people wanted.

La fiecare praznic al Paştelor, dregătorul avea obicei să sloboadă norodului un întemniţat, pe care -l voiau ei.

16 T hey had a man who was known by all the people whose name was Barabbas.

Pe atunci aveau un întemniţat vestit, numit Baraba.

17 W hen they were gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to let go free? Should it be Barabbas or Jesus Who is called Christ?”

Cînd erau adunaţi la un loc, Pilat le -a zis:,, Pe care voiţi să vi -l slobozesc? Pe Baraba sau pe Isus, care se numeşte Hristos?``

18 F or the leader of the country knew the religious leaders had given Jesus over to him because they were jealous.

Căci ştia că din pizmă dăduseră pe Isus în mînile lui.

19 W hile Pilate was sitting in the place where he judges, his wife sent him this word, “Have nothing to do with that good Man. I have been troubled today in a dream about Him.”

Pe cînd sta Pilat pe scaun la judecată, nevastă-sa a trimis să -i spună:,, Să n'ai nimic a face cu neprihănitul acesta; căci azi am suferit mult în vis din pricina lui.``

20 T he head religious leaders and the other leaders talked the many people into asking for Barabbas to go free and for Jesus to be put to death.

Preoţii cei mai de seamă şi bătrînii au înduplecat noroadele să ceară pe Baraba, iar pe Isus să -L omoare.

21 T he leader of the country said to them, “Which one of the two do you want me to let go free?” They said, “Barabbas.”

Dregătorul a luat cuvîntul, şi le -a zis:,, Pe care din amîndoi voiţi să vi -l slobozesc?``,, Pe Baraba``, au răspuns ei.

22 P ilate said to them, “Then what am I to do with Jesus Who is called Christ?” They all said to him, “Nail Him to a cross!”

Pilat le -a zis:,, Dar ce să fac cu Isus, care se numeşte Hristos?``,, Să fie răstignit``, i-au răspuns cu toţii.

23 T hen Pilate said, “Why, what bad thing has He done?” But they cried out all the more, “Nail Him to a cross!”

Dregătorul a zis:,, Dar ce rău a făcut?`` Ei au început să strige şi mai tare:,, Să fie răstignit!``

24 P ilate saw that he could do nothing. The people were making loud calls and there was much pushing around. He took water and washed his hands in front of the many people. He said, “I am not guilty of the blood of this good Man. This is your own doing.”

Cînd a văzut Pilat că n'ajunge la nimic, ci că se face mai multă zarvă, a luat apă, şi -a spălat mînile înaintea norodului, şi a zis:,, Eu sînt nevinovat de sîngele neprihănitului acestuia. Treaba voastră!``

25 T hen all the people said, “Let His blood be on us and on our children!”

Şi tot norodul a răspuns:,, Sîngele Lui să fie asupra noastră şi asupra copiilor noştri.``

26 P ilate let Barabbas go free but he had men whip Jesus. Then he handed Him over to be nailed to a cross. The Crown of Thorns

Atunci Pilat le -a slobozit pe Baraba; iar pe Isus, dupăce a pus să -L bată cu nuiele, L -a dat în mînile lor, ca să fie răstignit.

27 T hen the soldiers of Pilate took Jesus into a large room. A big group of soldiers gathered around Him.

Ostaşii dregătorului au dus pe Isus în pretoriu, şi au adunat în jurul Lui toată ceata ostaşilor.

28 T hey took off His clothes and put a purple coat on Him.

L-au desbrăcat de hainele Lui, şi L-au îmbrăcat cu o haină stacojie.

29 T hey put a crown of thorns on His head. They put a stick in His right hand. They got on their knees before Him and made fun of Him. They said, “Hello, King of the Jews!”

Au împletit o cunună de spini, pe care I-au pus -o pe cap, şi I-au pus o trestie în mîna dreaptă. Apoi îngenuncheau înaintea Lui, îşi băteau joc de El, şi ziceau:,, Plecăciune, Împăratul Iudeilor!``

30 T hey spit on Him. They took a stick and hit Him on the head.

Şi scuipau asupra Lui, şi luau trestia şi -L băteau în cap.

31 A fter they had made fun of Him, they took the coat off and put His own clothes on Him. Then they led Him away to be nailed to a cross.

Dupăce şi-au bătut astfel joc de El, L-au desbrăcat de haina stacojie, L-au îmbrăcat cu hainele Lui, şi L-au dus să -L răstignească.

32 A s they were on the way, they came to a man called Simon from the country of Cyrene. They made him carry the cross for Jesus. Jesus on the Cross

Pe cînd ieşeau afară din cetate, au întîlnit pe un om din Cirene numit Simon, şi l-au silit să ducă crucea lui Isus.

33 T hey came to a place called Golgotha. This name means the place of a skull.

Cînd au ajuns la un loc numit Golgota, care înseamnă:,, Locul căpăţînii``,

34 T hey gave Him wine with something in it to take away the pain. After tasting it, He took no more.

I-au dat să bea vin amestecat cu fiere; dar, cînd l -a gustat, n'a vrut să bea.

35 W hen they had nailed Him to the cross, they divided His clothes by drawing names. It happened as the early preacher said it would happen. He said, “They divided My clothes among them by drawing names to see who would get My coat.”

Dupăce L-au răstignit, I-au împărţit hainele între ei, trăgînd la sorţi, pentru ca să se împlinească ce fusese vestit prin proorocul care zice:,,Şi-au împărţit hainele Mele între ei, şi pentru cămaşa Mea au tras la sorţi.``

36 T hen they sat down and watched Him.

Apoi au şezut jos, şi -L păzeau.

37 O ver His head they put in writing what they had against Him, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. The Two Robbers

Şi I-au scris deasupra capului vina:,, Acesta este Isus, Împăratul Iudeilor.``

38 T hey nailed two robbers to crosses beside Him. One was on His right side. The other was on His left side.

Împreună cu El, au fost răstigniţi doi tîlhari: unul la dreapta şi celălalt la stînga Lui.

39 T hose who walked by shook their heads and laughed at Him.

Trecătorii îşi băteau joc de El, dădeau din cap,

40 T hey said, “You are the One Who could destroy the house of God and build it up again in three days. Now save Yourself. If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”

şi ziceau:,, Tu, care strici Templul, şi -l zideşti la loc în trei zile, mîntuieşte-Te pe Tine însuţi! Dacă eşti Tu Fiul lui Dumnezeu, pogoară-Te de pe cruce!``

41 T he head religious leaders and the teachers of the Law and the other leaders made fun of Him also. They said,

Preoţii cei mai de seamă, împreună cu cărturarii şi bătrînii, îşi băteau şi ei joc de El, şi ziceau:

42 “ He saved others but He cannot save Himself. If He is the King of the Jews, let Him come down from the cross. Then we will believe in Him.

Pe alţii i -a mîntuit iar pe Sine nu Se poate mîntui! Dacă este El Împăratul lui Israel, să Se pogoare acum de pe cruce, şi vom crede în El!

43 H e trusts God. Let God save Him now, if God cares for Him. He has said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”

S'a încrezut în Dumnezeu: să -l scape acum Dumnezeu, dacă -L iubeşte. Căci a zis:, Eu sînt Fiul lui Dumnezeu!``

44 A nd the robbers who were nailed to crosses beside Him made fun of Him the same way also. The Death of Jesus

Tîlharii cari erau răstigniţi împreună cu El, îi aruncau aceleaşi cuvinte de batjocură.

45 F rom noon until three o’clock it was dark over all the land.

Dela ceasul al şaselea pînă la ceasul al nouălea s'a făcut întunerec peste toată ţara.

46 A bout three o’clock Jesus cried with a loud voice, “My God, My God, why have You left Me alone?”

Şi pe la ceasul al nouălea, Isus a strigat cu glas tare:,, Eli, Eli, Lama Sabactani?`` adică:,, Dumnezeul Meu, Dumnezeul Meu, pentru ce M'ai părăsit?``

47 W hen some of those who stood by heard that, they said, “This Man is calling for Elijah.”

Unii din ceice stăteau acolo, cînd au auzit aceste vorbe, au zis:,, Strigă pe Ilie!``

48 A t once one of them ran and took a sponge and filled it with sour wine. He put it on a stick and gave it to Him to drink.

Şi îndată, unul din ei a alergat de a luat un burete, l -a umplut cu oţet, l -a pus într'o trestie, şi i -a dat să bea.

49 T he others said, “Let Him alone. Let us see if Elijah will come and save Him.”

Dar ceilalţi ziceau:,, Lasă, să vedem dacă va veni Ilie să -L mîntuiască.``

50 T hen Jesus gave another loud cry and gave up His spirit and died. The Powerful Works at the Time of His Death

Isus a strigat iarăş cu glas tare, şi Şi -a dat duhul.

51 A t once the curtain in the house of God was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks fell apart.

Şi îndată perdeaua dinlăuntrul Templului s'a rupt în două, de sus pînă jos, pămîntul s'a cutremurat, stîncile s'au despicat,

52 G raves were opened. Bodies of many of God’s people who were dead were raised.

mormintele s'au deschis şi multe trupuri ale sfinţilor cari muriseră, au înviat.

53 A fter Jesus was raised from the grave, these arose from their graves and went into Jerusalem, the Holy City. These were seen by many people.

Ei au ieşit din morminte, după învierea lui, au intrat în sfînta cetate, şi s'au arătat multora.

54 T he captain of the soldiers and those with him who were watching Jesus, saw all the things that were happening. They saw the earth shake and they were very much afraid. They said, “For sure, this Man was the Son of God.” The Women at the Cross

Sutaşul, şi ceice păzeau pe Isus împreună cu el, cînd au văzut cutremurul de pămînt şi cele întîmplate, s'au înfricoşat foarte tare, şi au zis:,, Cu adevărat, acesta a fost Fiul lui Dumnezeu!``

55 M any women were looking on from far away. These had followed Jesus from the country of Galilee. They had cared for Him.

Acolo erau şi multe femei, cari priveau de departe; ele urmaseră pe Isus din Galilea, ca să -I slujească.

56 A mong them was Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Joseph and the mother of Zebedee’s sons. The Grave of Jesus

Între ele era Maria Magdalina, Maria, mama lui Iacov şi a lui Iose, şi mama fiilor lui Zebedei.

57 W hen it was evening, a rich man came from the city of Arimathea. His name was Joseph. He was a follower of Jesus also.

Spre seară, a venit un om bogat din Arimatea, numit Iosif, care era şi el ucenic al lui Isus.

58 H e went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate said that the body should be given to him.

El s'a dus la Pilat, şi a cerut trupul lui Isus. Pilat a poruncit să i -l dea.

59 J oseph took the body and put clean linen cloth around it.

Iosif a luat trupul, l -a înfăşurat într'o pînză curată de in,

60 H e laid it in his own new grave. This grave had been cut out in the side of a rock. He pushed a big stone over the door of the grave and went away.

61 M ary Magdalene and the other Mary stayed there. They were sitting near the grave.

Maria Magdalina şi cealaltă Marie erau acolo, şi şedeau în faţa mormîntului.

62 T he next day, the day after Jesus was killed, the head religious leaders and the proud religious law-keepers gathered together in front of Pilate.

A doua zi care vine după ziua Pregătirii, preoţii cei mai de seamă şi Fariseii, s'au dus împreună la Pilat,

63 T hey said, “Sir, we remember what that Man Who fooled people said when He was living, ‘After three days I am to rise from the dead.’

şi i-au zis:,, Doamne, ne-am adus aminte că înşelătorul acela, pe cînd era încă în viaţă, a zis:, După trei zile voi învia.`

64 S peak the word to have the grave watched for three days. Then His followers cannot come at night and take Him away and say to the people, ‘He has been raised from the dead.’ The last mistake would be worse than the first.”

Dă poruncă dar ca mormîntul să fie păzit bine pînă a treia zi, ca nu cumva să vină ucenicii Lui noaptea să -I fure trupul, şi să spună norodului:, A înviat din morţi!` Atunci înşelăciunea aceasta din urmă ar fi mai rea decît cea dintîi.``

65 P ilate said to them, “Take the soldiers. Go and watch the grave.”

Pilat le -a zis:,, Aveţi o strajă; duceţi-vă de păziţi cum puteţi.``

66 T hen they went and made the soldiers stand by the grave. They put a lock on the big stone door.

Ei au plecat, şi au întărit mormîntul, pecetluind piatra şi punînd strajă.``
