1 O Lord, You are my God. I will praise You. I will give thanks to Your name. For You have been faithful to do great things, plans that You made long ago.

Doamne, Tu eşti Dumnezeul meu; pe Tine Te voi înălţa! Laud Numele Tău, căci ai făcut lucruri minunate; planurile Tale făcute mai dinainte s'au împlinit cu credincioşie.

2 F or You have laid waste a city. You have destroyed a strong city. The beautiful house of strangers is a city no more. And it will never be built again.

Căci ai prefăcut cetatea (Babilon) într'un morman de pietre, cetăţuia cea tare într'o grămadă de dărîmături; cetatea cea mare a străinilor este nimicită, şi niciodată nu va mai fi zidită.

3 S o strong people will honor You. Cities of nations that show no pity will fear You.

De aceea Te slăvesc popoarele puternice, şi cetăţile neamurilor puternice se tem de Tine.

4 F or You have been a strong-place for those who could not help themselves and for those in need because of much trouble. You have been a safe place from the storm and a shadow from the heat. For the breath of the one who shows no pity is like a storm against a wall.

Căci Tu ai fost un loc de scăpare pentru cel slab, un loc de scăpare pentru cel nenorocit în necaz, un adăpost împotriva furtunii, un umbrar împotriva căldurii; căci suflarea asupritorilor este ca vijelia care izbeşte în zid.

5 L ike heat in a dry place, You quiet the noise of the strangers. Like heat by the shadow of a cloud, the song of the one who shows no pity is made quiet. A Supper for All People

Cum domoleşti căldura într'un pămînt arzător, aşa ai domolit zarva străinilor; cum este înăduşită căldura de umbra unui nor, aşa au fost înăduşite cîntările de biruinţă ale asupritorilor.``

6 O n this mountain the Lord of All will make a supper of good things ready for all people. It will be a supper of good wine, of the best foods, and of fine wine.

Domnul oştirilor pregăteşte tuturor popoarelor pe muntele acesta, un ospăţ de bucate gustoase, un ospăţ de vinuri vechi, de bucate miezoase, pline de măduvă, de vinuri vechi şi limpezite.

7 A nd on this mountain He will destroy the covering which is over all people, the covering which is spread over all nations.

Şi, pe muntele acesta, înlătură măhrama care acopere toate popoarele, şi învelitoarea care înfăşură toate neamurile;

8 H e will take away death for all time. The Lord God will dry tears from all faces. He will take away the shame of His people from all the earth. For the Lord has spoken.

nimiceşte moartea pe vecie: Domnul Dumnezeu şterge lacrămile de pe toate feţele, şi îndepărtează de pe tot pămîntul ocara poporului Său; da, Domnul a vorbit.

9 I t will be said in that day, “See, this is our God. We have waited for Him, that He might save us. This is the Lord for Whom we have waited. Let us be glad and full of joy because He saves us.” Moab Will Be Punished

În ziua aceea, vor zice:,, Iată, acesta este Dumnezeul nostru, în care aveam încredere că ne va mîntui. Acesta este Domnul, în care ne încredeam, acum să ne veselim, şi să ne bucurăm de mîntuirea Lui!

10 F or the hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain. And Moab will be crushed in his place, as straw is crushed down in animal waste.

Căci mîna Domnului se odihneşte pe muntele acesta; dar Moabul este călcat în picioare pe loc, cum este călcat în picioare paiul în bălegar.

11 M oab will spread out his hands in it, as a man spreads out his hands to swim. But the Lord will put his pride to shame, together with the sinful work of his hands.

În mijlocul acestei băltoace, el îşi întinde mînile, cum le întinde înotătorul ca să înoate; dar Domnul îi doboară mîndria, şi face de nimica dibăcia mînilor lui.

12 A nd the Lord will bring down your high walls built for war and lay them low. He will throw them to the ground, even to the dust.

El surpă, prăbuşeşte întăriturile înalte ale zidurilor tale, le prăbuşeşte la pămînt, în ţărînă.``
