1 I n the second year that Nebuchadnezzar was king, he had a dream. His spirit was troubled and he could not sleep.

În al doilea an al domniei lui Nebucadneţar, Nebucadneţar a avut nişte visuri. Duhul îi era turburat, şi i -a perit somnul.

2 T hen the king called for the wonder-workers, those who used secret ways, those who learned from stars, to tell the king what he had dreamed. So they came in and stood in front of the king.

Împăratul a poruncit să cheme pe vrăjitori, pe cititorii în stele, pe descîntători şi pe Haldei, ca să -i spună visurile. Ei au venit, şi s'au înfăţişat înaintea împăratului.

3 T he king said to them, “I had a dream that troubles me, and I want to know what the dream means.”

Împăratul le -a zis:,, Am visat un vis; duhul îmi este turburat, şi aş vrea să ştiu visul acela.``

4 T hen those who learn from stars said to the king in the Aramaic language, “O king, live forever! Tell the dream to your servants, and we will tell you what it means.”

Haldeii au răspuns împăratului în limba aramaică:,, Vecinic să trăieşti, împărate! Spune robilor tăi visul, şi-ţi vom arăta tîlcuirea lui!``

5 T he king answered, saying, “My word is sure. If you do not tell me what my dream was and what it means, you will be torn apart and your houses will be laid waste.

Împăratul a luat iarăş cuvîntul şi a zis Haldeilor:,, Mi -a scăpat din minte lucrul acela: dacă nu-mi veţi veţi face cunoscut visul şi tîlcuirea lui, veţi fi făcuţi bucăţi, şi casele voastre vor fi prefăcute într'un morman de murdării.

6 B ut if you tell me the dream and what it means, I will give you gifts and riches and great honor. So tell me the dream and what it means.”

Dar dacă-mi veţi spune visul şi tîlcuirea lui, veţi primi dela mine daruri şi răsplătiri, şi mare cinste. Deaceea, spuneţi-mi visul şi tălmăcirea lui!``

7 T hey answered the king a second time, saying, “Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and we will tell you what it means.”

Ei au răspuns a doua oară:,, Să spună împăratul robilor săi visul, şi i -l vom tălmăci!``

8 T he king said, “I am sure that you are trying to get more time, because you see that my word is sure.

Împăratul a luat iarăş cuvîntul şi a zis:,, Văd, cu adevărat, că voiţi să cîştigaţi vreme, pentru că vedeţi că lucrul mi -a scăpat din minte.

9 Y ou know that if you do not tell me what I dreamed, there is only one penalty for you. You have agreed among yourselves to keep telling me lies until things change. So tell me the dream. Then I will know that you can tell me what it means.”

Dacă deci nu-mi veţi spune visul, vă aşteaptă pe toţi aceeaş soartă, fiindcă vreţi să vă înţelegeţi ca să-mi spuneţi minciuni şi neadevăruri, pînă se vor schimba vremurile. De aceea, spuneţi-mi visul, ca să ştiu dacă sînteţi în stare să mi -l şi tîlcuiţi!``

10 T hose who learn from stars answered the king and said, “There is not a man on earth who can do this for the king. For no great king or ruler has ever asked anything like this of any wonder-worker or one who learns from stars.

Haldeii au răspuns împăratului:,, Nu este nimeni pe pămînt, care să poată spune ce cere împăratul; deaceea niciodată niciun împărat, oricît de mare şi puternic ar fi fost, n'a cerut aşa ceva dela niciun vrăjitor, cititor în stele sau Haldeu!

11 W hat the king asks is too hard. No one can do it for you except the gods, who do not live among men.”

Ce cere împăratul este greu; nu este nimeni care să spună lucrul acesta împăratului, afară de zei, a căror locuinţă nu este printre muritori!``

12 B ecause of this the king became very angry and said that all the wise men of Babylon must be destroyed.

La auzul acestor cuvinte, împăratul s'a mîniat, şi s'a supărat foarte tare. A poruncit să piardă pe toţi înţelepţii Babilonului.

13 S o the law was sent out that the wise men must be killed. They looked for Daniel and his friends, to kill them also. God Shows Daniel the Meaning of the Dream

Hotărîrea ieşise, înţelepţii începuseră să fie omorîţi, şi căutau şi pe Daniel şi pe tovarăşii lui, ca să -i piardă.

14 T hen Daniel spoke with wisdom and understanding to Arioch, the captain of the soldiers who watched over the king, who had gone out to kill the wise men of Babylon.

Atunci Daniel a vorbit cu minte şi cu judecată lui Arioc, căpetenia străjerilor împăratului, care ieşise să omoare pe înţelepţii Babilonului.

15 H e said to Arioch, the king’s captain, “Why is the king’s law so hard?” Then Arioch told him what had happened.

A luat cuvîntul şi a zis lui Arioc, căpitanul împăratului:,, Pentruce a dat împăratul o poruncă atît de aspră?`` Arioc a spus lui Daniel cum stau lucrurile.

16 S o Daniel went in and asked the king for time, so that he could tell the king what the dream meant.

Şi Daniel s'a dus la împărat, şi l -a rugat să -i dea vreme ca să dea împăratului tîlcuirea.

17 T hen Daniel went to his house and told his friends, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, what had happened.

Apoi Daniel s'a dus în casa lui, şi a spus despre lucrul acesta tovarăşilor săi Hanania, Mişael şi Azaria,

18 H e told them to ask for loving-pity from the God of heaven about this secret, so that Daniel and his friends might not be killed with the other wise men of Babylon.

rugîndu -i să ceară îndurarea Dumnezeului cerurilor pentru această taină, ca să nu piară Daniel şi tovarăşii săi odată cu ceilalţi înţelepţi ai Babilonului.

19 T hen the secret was made known to Daniel in a special dream during the night. He gave honor and thanks to the God of heaven.

După aceea i s'a descoperit lui Daniel taina într'o vedenie în timpul nopţii. Şi Daniel a binecuvîntat pe Dumnezeul cerurilor.

20 D aniel said, “Let the name of God be honored forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to Him.

Daniel a luat cuvîntul şi a zis:,, Binecuvîntat să fie Numele lui Dumnezeu, din vecinicie în vecinicie! A Lui este înţelepciunea şi puterea.

21 H e changes the times and the years. He takes kings away, and puts kings in power. He gives wisdom to wise men and much learning to men of understanding.

El schimbă vremurile şi împrejurările; El răstoarnă şi pune pe împăraţi; El dă înţelepciune înţelepţilor şi pricepere celor pricepuţi!

22 H e makes known secret and hidden things. He knows what is in the darkness. Light is with Him.

El descopere ce este adînc şi ascuns; El ştie ce este în întunerec şi la El locuieşte lumina....

23 I give thanks and praise to You, O God of my fathers. For You have given me wisdom and power. Even now You have made known what we asked of You. You have made the king’s dream known to us.” Daniel Tells the Meaning to the King

Pe Tine, Dumnezeul părinţilor mei, Te slăvesc şi Te laud că mi-ai dat înţelepciune şi putere, şi mi-ai făcut cunoscut ce Ţi-am cerut noi; căci ne-ai descoperit taina împăratului!``.

24 S o Daniel went in to Arioch, whom the king had told to kill the wise men of Babylon. He went and said to him, “Do not kill the wise men of Babylon! Take me to the king, and I will tell him what his dream means.”

După aceea, Daniel s'a dus la Arioc, căruia îi poruncise împăratul să piardă pe înţelepţii Babilonului; s'a dus, şi i -a vorbit aşa:,, Nu pierde pe înţelepţii Babilonului! Du-mă înaintea împăratului, şi voi da împăratului tîlcuirea!``

25 T hen Arioch brought Daniel to the king in a hurry, and said to him, “I have found a man among those brought out of Judah who can tell the king the meaning of his dream!”

Arioc a dus degrabă pe Daniel înaintea împăratului, şi i -a vorbit aşa:,, Am găsit între prinşii de război ai lui Iuda un om care va da împăratului tîlcuirea!``

26 T he king said to Daniel (also called Belteshazzar), “Are you able to tell me the dream I had, and what it means?”

Împăratul a luat cuvîntul şi a zis lui Daniel, care se numea Beltşaţar:,, Eşti tu în stare să-mi spui visul pe care l-am visat şi tîlcuirea lui?``

27 D aniel answered the king and said, “No wise men, wonder-workers, or men who use secret ways can make this dream known to the king.

Daniel a răspuns înaintea împăratului, şi a zis:,, Ce cere împăratul este o taină pe care înţelepţii, cititorii în stele, vrăjitorii şi ghicitorii nu sînt în stare s'o descopere împăratului.

28 B ut there is a God in heaven who makes secrets known. And He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in the future. This was the special dream you had while you were on your bed.

Dar este în ceruri un Dumnezeu, care descopere tainele, şi care face cunoscut împăratului Nebucadneţar ce se va întîmpla în vremurile de pe urmă. Iată visul tău şi vedeniile pe cari le-ai avut în patul tău.

29 O king, while on your bed your thoughts turned to what would happen in the future. And He Who makes secrets known has let you know what will happen.

În patul tău, împărate, ţi-au venit în minte gînduri cu privire la cele ce vor fi după aceste vremuri; şi Celce descopere tainele ţi -a făcut cunoscut ce se va întîmpla.

30 B ut this secret has not been made known to me because I am wiser than any other living man. It was made known to me so that I can make it known to the king, and that you may understand the thoughts of your mind.

Însă dacă mi s'a descoperit taina aceasta, nu înseamnă că este în mine o înţelepciune mai mare decît a tuturor celor vii, ci pentru ca să se dea împăratului tîlcuirea ei, şi să afli ce-ţi doreşte inima să ştii.

31 “ O king, you were looking and saw a great object. The object was large and very bright, and it was standing in front of you. It filled you with fear and wonder as you looked at it.

Tu, împărate, te uitai, şi iată că ai văzut un chip mare. Chipul acesta era foarte mare, şi de o strălucire nemai pomenită. Stătea în picioare înaintea ta, şi înfăţişarea lui era înfricoşătoare.

32 T he object’s head was made of fine gold. Its breast and arms were made of silver. Its stomach and thighs were made of brass.

Capul chipului acestuia era de aur curat; pieptul şi braţele îi erau de argint; pîntecele şi coapsele îi erau de aramă;

33 I ts legs were made of iron, and its feet were part iron and part clay.

fluierele picioarele, de fer; picioarele, parte de fer, şi parte de lut.

34 W hile you were watching, a rock was cut out, but not by human hands. It fell and hit the large object on its feet of iron and clay, and crushed them.

Tu te uitai la el, şi s'a deslipit o piatră, fără ajutorul vreunei mîni, a izbit picioarele de fer şi de lut ale chipului, şi le -a făcut bucăţi.

35 T hen the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver and the gold were broken to pieces at the same time and became like dust on the grain-floor in the summer. The wind carried the dust away so nothing was to be found. But the stone that hit the large object became a large mountain and filled the whole earth.

Atunci ferul, lutul, arama, argintul şi aurul s'au sfărîmat împreună şi s'au făcut ca pleava din arie vara; le -a luat vîntul, şi nici urmă nu s'a mai găsit din ele. Dar piatra, care sfărîmase chipul, s'a făcut un munte mare, şi a umplut tot pămîntul.

36 “ This was the dream. Now we will tell the king what it means.

Iată visul. Acum îi vom spune şi tîlcuirea înaintea împăratului.

37 Y ou, O king, are the king of kings. The God of heaven has given you the nation, the power, the strength, and the honor.

Tu, împărate, eşti împăratul împăraţilor, căci Dumnezeul cerurilor ţi -a dat împărăţie, putere, bogăţie şi slavă.

38 I n every place where people live, or the animals of the field, or the birds of the air, He has given them to you and has caused you to rule over them all. You are the head of gold.

El ţi -a dat în mîni, ori unde locuiesc ei, pe copiii oamenilor, fiarele cîmpului şi păsările cerului, şi te -a făcut stăpîn peste toate acestea: tu eşti capul de aur!

39 A fter you there will be another nation that is not as great as yours. A third nation of brass will come, which will rule over all the earth.

După tine, se va ridica o altă împărăţie, mai neînsemnată decît a ta; apoi o a treia împărăţie, care va fi de aramă, şi care va stăpîni peste tot pămîntul.

40 T hen there will be a fourth nation, as strong as iron. Iron crushes and breaks all things. So, like iron breaks things to pieces, this nation will crush and break all the others.

Va fi o a patra împărăţie, tare ca ferul; după cum ferul sfărîmă şi rupe totul, şi ea va sfărîma şi va rupe totul, ca ferul care face totul bucăţi.

41 J ust as you saw the feet and toes made of part clay and part iron, it will be a divided nation. But it will have some of the strength of iron, just as you saw the iron mixed with the clay.

Şi după cum ai văzut picioarele şi degetele picioarelor parte de lut de olar şi parte de fer, tot aşa şi împărăţia aceasta va fi împărţită; dar va rămînea în ea ceva din tăria ferului, tocmai aşa cum ai văzut ferul amestecat cu lutul.

42 A s the toes of the feet were made of part iron and part clay, so some of the nation will be strong and part of it will be weak.

Şi după cum degetele dela picioare erau parte de fer şi parte de lut, tot aşa şi împărăţia aceasta va fi în parte tare şi în parte plăpîndă.

43 A s you saw the iron mixed with clay, they will try to join with one another. But they will not stay together any more than iron mixes with clay.

Dacă ai văzut ferul amestecat cu lutul, înseamnă că se vor amesteca prin legături omeneşti de căsătorie, dar nu vor fi lipiţi unul de altul, după cum ferul nu se poate uni cu lutul.

44 I n the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a nation which will never be destroyed. And it will never be taken by another people. It will crush and put an end to all these nations, but it will last forever.

Dar în vremea acestor împăraţi, Dumnezeul cerurilor va ridica o împărăţie, care nu va fi nimicită niciodată, şi care nu va trece supt stăpînirea unui alt popor. Ea va sfărîma şi va nimici toate acele împărăţii, şi ea însăş va dăinui vecinic.

45 Y ou saw how a stone was cut out of the mountain by no human hands, and how it crushed the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold. The great God has shown the king what will happen in the future. The dream is true. And I have given you its true meaning.” Daniel Becomes Ruler of Babylon

Aceasta înseamnă piatra, pe care ai văzut -o deslipindu-se din munte, fără ajutorul vreunei mîni, şi care a sfărîmat ferul, arama, lutul, argintul şi aurul. Dumnezeul cel mare a făcut deci cunoscut împăratului ce are să se întîmple după aceasta. Visul este adevărat, şi tîlcuirea lui este temeinică.``

46 T hen King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and gave honor to Daniel. He had a gift and special perfume brought to him.

Atunci împăratul Nebucadneţar a căzut cu faţa la pămînt şi s'a închinat înaintea lui Daniel, şi a poruncit să i se aducă jertfe de mîncare şi miresme.

47 T he king said to Daniel, “For sure your God is God of gods and Lord of kings, and He makes hidden things known. For you have been able to make known this secret.”

Împăratul a vorbit lui Daniel şi a zis:,, Cu adevărat, Dumnezeul vostru este Dumnezeul dumnezeilor şi Domnul împăraţilor, şi El descopere tainele, fiindcă ai putut să descoperi taina aceasta!``

48 T hen the king gave Daniel much power and gave him many great gifts. He made him ruler over the whole land of Babylon and the head of all the wise men of Babylon.

Apoi împăratul a înălţat pe Daniel, şi i -a dat daruri multe şi bogate; i -a dat stăpînire peste tot ţinutul Babilonului, şi l -a pus ca cea mai înaltă căpetenie a tuturor înţelepţilor Babilonului.

49 A nd Daniel asked the king to put Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego as leaders over the land of Babylon, while Daniel stayed near the king.

Daniel a rugat pe împărat să dea grija trebilor ţinutului Babilonului în mîna lui Şadrac, Meşac şi Abed-Nego. Daniel însă a rămas la curtea împăratului.
