1 T hen Moses answered, “What if they will not believe me or listen to me? They might say, ‘The Lord has not shown Himself to you.’”

Moise a răspuns, şi a zis:,, Iată că n'au să mă creadă, nici n'au să asculte de glasul meu. Ci vor zice:, Nu ţi s'a arătat Domnul!`

2 T he Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” Moses said, “A stick.”

Domnul i -a zis:, Ce ai în mînă?` El a răspuns:, Un toiag.`

3 T hen the Lord said, “Throw it on the ground.” So Moses threw it on the ground, and it became a snake. And Moses ran from it.

Domnul a zis:, Aruncă -l la pămînt.` El l -a aruncat la pămînt, şi toiagul s'a prefăcut într'un şarpe. Moise fugea de el.

4 B ut the Lord said to Moses, “Put out your hand and take it by its tail.” So Moses put out his hand and caught it. And it became a stick in his hand.

Domnul a zis lui Moise:,Întinde-ţi mîna, şi apucă -l de coadă.` El a întins mîna şi l -a apucat; şi şarpele s'a prefăcut iarăş într-un toiag în mîna lui.

5 T he Lord said, “By seeing this they may believe that the Lord, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has shown Himself to you.”

Iată`, a zis Domnul,, ce vei face, ca să creadă că ţi s'a arătat Domnul, Dumnezeul părinţilor lor: Dumnezeul lui Avraam, Dumnezeul lui Isaac şi Dumnezeul lui Iacov.`

6 T he Lord said to him, “Put your hand inside your coat.” So Moses put his hand inside his coat. When he took it out, his hand had a bad skin disease and was white as snow.

Domnul i -a mai zis:, Bagă-ţi mîna în sîn.` El şi -a băgat mîna în sîn; apoi a scos -o, şi iată că mîna i se acoperise de lepră, şi se făcuse albă ca zăpada.

7 T hen God said, “Put your hand inside your coat again.” So Moses put his hand inside his coat again. When he took it out of his coat, he saw that it had become like his other flesh.

Domnul a zis:, Bagă-ţi din nou mîna în sîn.` El şi -a băgat din nou mîna în sîn; apoi a scos -o din sîn; şi iată că mîna se făcuse iarăş cum era carnea lui.

8 G od said, “If they will not listen to you or believe you when they are shown the first thing, they may believe when this is shown to them.

Dacă nu te vor crede,` a zis Domnul,,şi nu vor asculta de glasul celui dintîi semn, vor crede glasul celui de al doilea semn.

9 B ut they might not believe even these two things or listen to what you say. So then take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. And the water you take from the Nile will become blood on the dry ground.”

Dacă nu vor crede nici aceste două semne, şi nu vor asculta de glasul tău, să iei apă din rîu, şi s'o torni pe pămînt; şi apa, pe care o vei lua din rîu, se va preface în sînge pe pămînt.``

10 M oses said to the Lord, “Lord, I am not a man of words. I have never been. Even now since You spoke to Your servant, I still am not. For I am slow in talking and it is difficult for me to speak.”

Moise a zis Domnului:,, Ah! Doamne, eu nu sînt un om ori vorbirea uşoară; şi cusurul acesta nu -i nici de ieri, nici de alaltăieri, nici măcar de cînd vorbeşti Tu robului Tău; căci vorba şi limba mi-este încurcată.``

11 T hen the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Who makes a man not able to speak or hear? Who makes one blind or able to see? Is it not I, the Lord?

Domnul i -a zis:,, Cine a făcut gura omului? Şi cine face pe om mut sau surd, cu vedere sau orb? Oare nu Eu, Domnul?

12 S o go now. And I will be with your mouth. I will teach you what to say.”

Du-te, dar; Eu voi fi cu gura ta, şi te voi învăţa ce vei avea de spus.``

13 B ut Moses said, “O Lord, I ask of You, send some other person.”

Moise a zis:,, Ah! Doamne, trimete pe cine vei vrea să trimeţi.``

14 T hen the anger of the Lord burned against Moses. He said, “Is not Aaron the Levite your brother? I know he can speak well. Also, he is coming to meet you. And when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.

Atunci Domnul S'a mîniat pe Moise, şi a zis:,, Nu -i oare acolo fratele tău Aaron, Levitul? Ştiu că el vorbeşte uşor. Iată că el însuş vine înaintea ta; şi, cînd te va vedea, se va bucura în inima lui.

15 Y ou must speak to him and put the words in his mouth. I will be with your mouth and his mouth. I will teach you what you are to do.

Tu îi vei vorbi, şi vei pune cuvintele în gura lui; şi Eu voi fi cu gura ta şi cu gura lui; şi vă voi învăţa ce veţi avea de făcut.

16 H e will speak to the people for you. He will be a mouth for you. And you will be as God to him.

El va vorbi poporului pentru tine, îţi va sluji drept gură, şi tu vei ţinea pentru el locul lui Dumnezeu.

17 Y ou will take this special stick in your hand. And you will use it to make the special things happen for the people to see.” Moses Returns to Egypt

Ia în mînă toiagul acesta, cu care vei face semnele.``

18 T hen Moses left and returned to Jethro his father-in-law, and said to him, “I ask of you, let me return to my brothers in Egypt to see if they are still alive.” And Jethro said to Moses, “Go in peace.”

Moise a plecat; şi, cînd s'a întors la socrul său Ietro, i -a zis:,, Lasă-mă, te rog, să plec şi să mă întorc la fraţii mei, cari sînt în Egipt, ca să văd dacă mai trăiesc.`` Ietro a zis lui Moise:,, Du-te în pace!``

19 T he Lord said to Moses in Midian, “Return to Egypt. For all the men who wanted to kill you are dead.”

Domnul a zis lui Moise, în Madian:,, Du-te, întoarce-te în Egipt: căci toţi ceice umblau să-ţi ia viaţa, au murit.``

20 S o Moses took his wife and sons and put them on a donkey, and he returned to the land of Egypt. Moses also took the special stick of God in his hand.

Moise şi -a luat nevasta şi copiii, i -a pus călări pe măgari, şi s'a întors în ţara Egiptului. Şi -a luat în mînă toiagul lui Dumnezeu.

21 T he Lord said to Moses, “When you return to Egypt, make sure you show Pharaoh all the works that I have placed in your power. But I will make his heart hard so that he will not let the people go.

Domnul a zis lui Moise:,, Plecînd ca să te întorci în Egipt, vezi, toate minunile pe cari ţi le pun în mînă, să le faci înaintea lui Faraon. Eu îi voi împetri inima, şi nu va lăsa pe popor să plece.

22 T hen say to Pharaoh, ‘The Lord says this: “Israel is My son, My first-born.

Tu vei zice lui Faraon:, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:, Israel este fiul Meu, întîiul Meu născut.

23 A nd I say to you, ‘Let My son go. Let him work for Me.’ But if you will not let him go, I will kill your son, your first-born.”’”

Îţi spun:, Lasă pe fiul Meu să plece, ca să-Mi slujească; dacă nu vrei să -l laşi să plece, voi ucide pe fiul tău, pe întîiul tău născut.``

24 T he Lord met Moses at a resting place on the way and would have put him to death.

În timpul călătoriei, într'un loc unde a rămas Moise peste noapte, l -a întîlnit Domnul, şi a vrut să -l omoare.

25 B ut Zipporah took a knife and cut off her son’s piece of skin and threw it at Moses’ feet. And she said, “For sure you are a husband of blood to me.”

Sefora a luat o piatră ascuţită, a tăiat prepuţul fiului său, şi l -a aruncat la picioarele lui Moise, zicînd:,, Tu eşti un soţ de sînge pentru mine.``

26 T hen the Lord let him alone. Zipporah said, “You are a husband of blood,” because of the religious act of becoming a Jew.

Şi Domnul l -a lăsat. Atunci a zis ea:,, Soţ de sînge!`` din pricina tăierii împrejur.

27 T he Lord said to Aaron, “Go to meet Moses in the desert.” So he went and met him at the mountain of God and kissed him.

Domnul a zis lui Aaron:,, Du-te înaintea lui Moise în pustie.`` Aaron a plecat: a întîlnit pe Moise la muntele lui Dumnezeu, şi l -a sărutat.

28 M oses told Aaron all the words of the Lord with which He had sent him. And he told him about all the special works that the Lord had told him to do.

Moise a făcut cunoscut lui Aaron toate cuvintele Domnului, care -l trimesese, şi toate semnele, pe cari -i poruncise să le facă.

29 T hen Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the leaders of the people of Israel.

Moise şi Aaron şi-au văzut de drum, şi au adunat pe toţi bătrînii copiilor lui Israel.

30 A aron spoke all the words which the Lord had spoken to Moses. Then he did all the special works for the people to see.

Aaron a istorisit toate cuvintele pe cari le spusese Domnul lui Moise; şi Moise a făcut semnele înaintea poporului.

31 S o the people believed. When they heard that the Lord cared about the people of Israel and had seen their suffering, they bowed to the ground and worshiped.

Poporul a crezut. Astfel au aflat că Domnul cercetase pe copiii lui Israel, că le văzuse suferinţa; şi s'au plecat şi s'au aruncat cu faţa la pămînt.
