1 A haz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem; and he did not do what was right in the sight of the Lord, as his father David had done.

De veinte años era Acaz cuando comenzó a reinar, y dieciséis años reinó en Jerusalén; mas no hizo lo recto ante los ojos del SEÑOR, como David su padre.

2 F or he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and made molded images for the Baals.

Antes anduvo en los caminos de los reyes de Israel, y además hizo imágenes de fundición a los Baales.

3 H e burned incense in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, and burned his children in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.

Quemó también incienso en el valle de los hijos de Hinom, y quemó a sus hijos en el fuego, conforme a las abominaciones de los gentiles que el SEÑOR había echado delante de los hijos de Israel.

4 A nd he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places, on the hills, and under every green tree. Syria and Israel Defeat Judah

Asimismo sacrificó y quemó incienso en los lugares altos, y en los collados, y debajo de todo árbol espeso.

5 T herefore the Lord his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria. They defeated him, and carried away a great multitude of them as captives, and brought them to Damascus. Then he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who defeated him with a great slaughter.

Por lo cual el SEÑOR su Dios lo entregó en manos del rey de los sirios, los cuales le derrotaron, y cogieron de él una gran presa, que llevaron a Damasco. Fue también entregado en manos del rey de Israel, el cual le hirió con gran mortandad.

6 F or Pekah the son of Remaliah killed one hundred and twenty thousand in Judah in one day, all valiant men, because they had forsaken the Lord God of their fathers.

Porque Peca, hijo de Remalías mató en Judá en un día ciento veinte mil, todos hombres valientes; por cuanto habían dejado al SEÑOR Dios de sus padres.

7 Z ichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, killed Maaseiah the king’s son, Azrikam the officer over the house, and Elkanah who was second to the king.

Asimismo Zicri, hombre poderoso de Efraín, mató a Maasías hijo del rey, y a Azricam su mayordomo, y a Elcana, segundo después del rey.

8 A nd the children of Israel carried away captive of their brethren two hundred thousand women, sons, and daughters; and they also took away much spoil from them, and brought the spoil to Samaria. Israel Returns the Captives

¶ Tomaron también cautivos los hijos de Israel de sus hermanos doscientos mil, mujeres, hijos e hijas, a más de haber saqueado de ellos un gran despojo, el cual trajeron a Samaria.

9 B ut a prophet of the Lord was there, whose name was Oded; and he went out before the army that came to Samaria, and said to them: “Look, because the Lord God of your fathers was angry with Judah, He has delivered them into your hand; but you have killed them in a rage that reaches up to heaven.

Había entonces allí un profeta del SEÑOR, que se llamaba Obed, el cual salió delante del ejército cuando entraba en Samaria, y les dijo: He aquí el SEÑOR Dios de vuestros padres, por el enojo contra Judá, los ha entregado en vuestras manos; y vosotros los habéis matado con ira. Hasta el cielo ha llegado esto.

10 A nd now you propose to force the children of Judah and Jerusalem to be your male and female slaves; but are you not also guilty before the Lord your God?

Y ahora habéis determinado sujetar a vosotros los hijos de Judá y de Jerusalén por siervos y siervas; mas ¿no sois vosotros culpables contra el SEÑOR vuestro Dios?

11 N ow hear me, therefore, and return the captives, whom you have taken captive from your brethren, for the fierce wrath of the Lord is upon you.”

Oídme, pues, ahora, y volved a enviar los cautivos que habéis tomado de vuestros hermanos; porque la ira del furor del SEÑOR está contra vosotros.

12 T hen some of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against those who came from the war,

Entonces se levantaron algunos varones de los principales de los hijos de Efraín, Azarías hijo de Johanán, Berequías hijo de Mesilemot, Ezequías hijo de Salum, y Amasa hijo de Hadlai, contra los que venían de la guerra.

13 a nd said to them, “You shall not bring the captives here, for we already have offended the Lord. You intend to add to our sins and to our guilt; for our guilt is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.”

Y les dijeron: No traigáis acá los cautivos; porque el pecado contra el SEÑOR será sobre nosotros. Vosotros tratáis de añadir sobre nuestros pecados y sobre nuestras culpas, siendo muy grande nuestra culpa, y la ira del furor sobre Israel.

14 S o the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the leaders and all the assembly.

Entonces el ejército dejó los cautivos y la presa delante de los príncipes y de toda la multitud.

15 T hen the men who were designated by name rose up and took the captives, and from the spoil they clothed all who were naked among them, dressed them and gave them sandals, gave them food and drink, and anointed them; and they let all the feeble ones ride on donkeys. So they brought them to their brethren at Jericho, the city of palm trees. Then they returned to Samaria. Assyria Refuses to Help Judah

Y se levantaron los varones nombrados, y tomaron los cautivos, y vistieron del despojo a los que de ellos estaban desnudos; los vistieron y los calzaron, y les dieron de comer y de beber, y los ungieron, y condujeron en asnos a todos los flacos, y los llevaron hasta Jericó, la ciudad de las palmas, cerca de sus hermanos; y ellos volvieron a Samaria.

16 A t the same time King Ahaz sent to the kings of Assyria to help him.

¶ En aquel tiempo envió a pedir el rey Acaz a los reyes de Asiria que le ayudaran.

17 F or again the Edomites had come, attacked Judah, and carried away captives.

Porque a más de esto, los idumeos habían venido y herido a los de Judá, y habían llevado cautivos.

18 T he Philistines also had invaded the cities of the lowland and of the South of Judah, and had taken Beth Shemesh, Aijalon, Gederoth, Sochoh with its villages, Timnah with its villages, and Gimzo with its villages; and they dwelt there.

Asimismo los filisteos se habían derramado por las ciudades de la llanura, y al mediodía de Judá, y habían tomado a Bet-semes, a Ajalón, Gederot, y Soco con sus aldeas, Timna también con sus aldeas, y Gimzo con sus aldeas; y habitaban en ellas.

19 F or the Lord brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel, for he had encouraged moral decline in Judah and had been continually unfaithful to the Lord.

Porque el SEÑOR había humillado a Judá por causa de Acaz rey de Israel; por cuanto él había desnudado a Judá, y se había rebelado gravemente contra el SEÑOR.

20 A lso Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria came to him and distressed him, and did not assist him.

Y vino contra él Tilgat-pileser, rey de los asirios; pues lo redujo a estrechez, y no lo fortificó.

21 F or Ahaz took part of the treasures from the house of the Lord, from the house of the king, and from the leaders, and he gave it to the king of Assyria; but he did not help him. Apostasy and Death of Ahaz

Aunque despojó Acaz la Casa del SEÑOR, y la casa real, y las de los príncipes, para dar al rey de los asirios, con todo eso él no le ayudó.

22 N ow in the time of his distress King Ahaz became increasingly unfaithful to the Lord. This is that King Ahaz.

Además el rey Acaz en el tiempo que aquel le apuraba, añadió prevaricación contra el SEÑOR;

23 F or he sacrificed to the gods of Damascus which had defeated him, saying, “Because the gods of the kings of Syria help them, I will sacrifice to them that they may help me.” But they were the ruin of him and of all Israel.

porque sacrificó a los dioses de Damasco que le habían herido, y dijo: Pues que los dioses de los reyes de Siria les ayudan, yo también sacrificaré a ellos para que me ayuden; habiendo sido éstos su ruina, y la de todo Israel.

24 S o Ahaz gathered the articles of the house of God, cut in pieces the articles of the house of God, shut up the doors of the house of the Lord, and made for himself altars in every corner of Jerusalem.

A más de eso recogió Acaz los vasos de la Casa de Dios, y los quebró, y cerró las puertas de la Casa del SEÑOR, y se hizo altares en Jerusalén en todos los rincones.

25 A nd in every single city of Judah he made high places to burn incense to other gods, and provoked to anger the Lord God of his fathers.

Hizo también lugares altos en todas las ciudades de Judá, para quemar incienso a los dioses ajenos, provocando a ira al SEÑOR Dios de sus padres.

26 N ow the rest of his acts and all his ways, from first to last, indeed they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

Los demás hechos, y todos sus caminos, primeros y postreros, he aquí ello está escrito en el libro de los reyes de Judá y de Israel.

27 S o Ahaz rested with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, in Jerusalem; but they did not bring him into the tombs of the kings of Israel. Then Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.

Y durmió Acaz con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de Jerusalén; mas no le metieron en los sepulcros de los reyes de Israel; y reinó en su lugar Ezequías su hijo.
