1 F or the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will still choose Israel, and settle them in their own land. The strangers will be joined with them, and they will cling to the house of Jacob.

Porque el SEÑOR tendrá piedad de Jacob, y todavía escogerá a Israel; y les hará reposar en su tierra; y a ellos se unirán extranjeros, y se allegarán a la familia de Jacob.

2 T hen people will take them and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel will possess them for servants and maids in the land of the Lord; they will take them captive whose captives they were, and rule over their oppressors. Fall of the King of Babylon

Y los tomarán los pueblos, y los traerán a su lugar; y la casa de Israel los poseerá por siervos y criadas en la tierra del SEÑOR; y cautivarán a los que los cautivaron, y señorearán a los que los oprimieron.

3 I t shall come to pass in the day the Lord gives you rest from your sorrow, and from your fear and the hard bondage in which you were made to serve,

Y será que en el día que el SEÑOR te diera reposo de tu trabajo, y de tu temor, y de la dura servidumbre en que te hicieron servir,

4 t hat you will take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say: “How the oppressor has ceased, The golden city ceased!

entonces levantarás esta parábola sobre el rey de Babilonia, y dirás: ¡Cómo cesó el opresor, cómo cesó la ciudad codiciosa del oro!

5 T he Lord has broken the staff of the wicked, The scepter of the rulers;

Quebrantó el SEÑOR el bastón de los impíos, el cetro de los señores;

6 H e who struck the people in wrath with a continual stroke, He who ruled the nations in anger, Is persecuted and no one hinders.

que con ira hería los pueblos de llaga perpetua, el cual se enseñoreaba de los gentiles con furor; al perseguido no defendió.

7 T he whole earth is at rest and quiet; They break forth into singing.

Descansó, sosegó toda la tierra, cantaron alabanzas.

8 I ndeed the cypress trees rejoice over you, And the cedars of Lebanon, Saying, ‘Since you were cut down, No woodsman has come up against us.’

Aun las hayas se regocijaron a causa de ti, y los cedros del Líbano, diciendo: Desde que tú pereciste, no ha subido cortador contra nosotros.

9 “ Hell from beneath is excited about you, To meet you at your coming; It stirs up the dead for you, All the chief ones of the earth; It has raised up from their thrones All the kings of the nations.

El Seol abajo se espantó de ti; te despertó muertos que en tu venida salieran a recibirte, hizo levantar de sus tronos a todos los príncipes de la tierra, a todos los reyes de los gentiles.

10 T hey all shall speak and say to you: ‘Have you also become as weak as we? Have you become like us?

Todos ellos darán voces, y te dirán: ¿Tú también enfermaste como nosotros, y como nosotros fuiste?

11 Y our pomp is brought down to Sheol, And the sound of your stringed instruments; The maggot is spread under you, And worms cover you.’ The Fall of Lucifer

Tu soberbia descendió al Seol, y el sonido de tus vihuelas; gusanos serán tu cama, y gusanos te cubrirán.

12 “ How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations!

¡Cómo caíste del cielo, oh Lucifer, hijo de la mañana! Cortado fuiste por tierra, el que echabas suerte sobre los gentiles.

13 F or you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north;

Tú que decías en tu corazón: Subiré al cielo, en lo alto junto a las estrellas de Dios ensalzaré mi trono, y en el monte del testimonio me sentaré, y en los lados del aquilón;

14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’

Sobre las alturas de las nubes subiré, y seré semejante al Altísimo.

15 Y et you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit.

Mas serás derribado al Seol, a los lados del abismo.

16 “ Those who see you will gaze at you, And consider you, saying: ‘ Is this the man who made the earth tremble, Who shook kingdoms,

Se han de inclinar hacia ti los que te vieren y te considerarán, diciendo: ¿Es éste aquel varón que hacía temblar la tierra, que trastornaba los reinos.

17 W ho made the world as a wilderness And destroyed its cities, Who did not open the house of his prisoners?’

Que puso el mundo como un desierto? ¿Que asoló sus ciudades? ¿Que a sus presos nunca abrió la cárcel?

18 “ All the kings of the nations, All of them, sleep in glory, Everyone in his own house;

Todos los reyes de los gentiles, todos ellos yacen con honra cada uno en su casa.

19 B ut you are cast out of your grave Like an abominable branch, Like the garment of those who are slain, Thrust through with a sword, Who go down to the stones of the pit, Like a corpse trodden underfoot.

Mas tú echado eres de tu sepulcro como tronco abominable; como vestido de muertos pasados a espada, que descendieron al fondo de la sepultura; como cuerpo muerto hollado.

20 Y ou will not be joined with them in burial, Because you have destroyed your land And slain your people. The brood of evildoers shall never be named.

No serás contado con ellos en la sepultura; porque tú destruiste tu tierra, mataste a tu pueblo. No será para siempre la simiente de los malignos.

21 P repare slaughter for his children Because of the iniquity of their fathers, Lest they rise up and possess the land, And fill the face of the world with cities.” Babylon Destroyed

Aparejad sus hijos para el matadero por la iniquidad de sus padres; no se levanten, ni posean la tierra, ni llenen la faz del mundo de ciudades.

22 “ For I will rise up against them,” says the Lord of hosts, “And cut off from Babylon the name and remnant, And offspring and posterity,” says the Lord.

Porque yo me levantaré sobre ellos, dice el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, y raeré de Babilonia el nombre y las reliquias, hijo y nieto, dice el SEÑOR.

23 “ I will also make it a possession for the porcupine, And marshes of muddy water; I will sweep it with the broom of destruction,” says the Lord of hosts. Assyria Destroyed

Y la pondré en posesión de erizos, y en lagunas de aguas; y la barreré con escobas de destrucción, dice el SEÑOR de los ejércitos.

24 T he Lord of hosts has sworn, saying, “Surely, as I have thought, so it shall come to pass, And as I have purposed, so it shall stand:

El SEÑOR de los ejércitos juró, diciendo, se hará de la manera que lo he pensado, y será confirmado como lo he determinado;

25 T hat I will break the Assyrian in My land, And on My mountains tread him underfoot. Then his yoke shall be removed from them, And his burden removed from their shoulders.

quebrantaré al asirio en mi tierra, y en mis montes lo hollaré; y su yugo será apartado de ellos, y su carga será quitada de su hombro.

26 T his is the purpose that is purposed against the whole earth, And this is the hand that is stretched out over all the nations.

Este es el consejo que está acordado sobre toda la tierra; y ésta es aquella mano extendida sobre todos los gentiles.

27 F or the Lord of hosts has purposed, And who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, And who will turn it back?” Philistia Destroyed

Porque el SEÑOR de los ejércitos lo ha determinado, ¿y quién lo invalidará? Y aquella su mano extendida, ¿quién la hará tornar?

28 T his is the burden which came in the year that King Ahaz died.

En el año que murió el rey Acaz fue esta carga:

29 “ Do not rejoice, all you of Philistia, Because the rod that struck you is broken; For out of the serpent’s roots will come forth a viper, And its offspring will be a fiery flying serpent.

no te alegres tú, toda Filistea, por haberse quebrado la vara del que te hería. Porque de la raíz de la culebra saldrá basilisco, y su fruto, serpiente voladora.

30 T he firstborn of the poor will feed, And the needy will lie down in safety; I will kill your roots with famine, And it will slay your remnant.

Y los primogénitos de los pobres serán apacentados, y los menesterosos se acostarán seguramente; y haré morir de hambre tu raíz, y tus reliquias matará.

31 W ail, O gate! Cry, O city! All you of Philistia are dissolved; For smoke will come from the north, And no one will be alone in his appointed times.”

Aúlla, oh puerta, clama, oh ciudad; desleída Filistea toda tú, porque humo vendrá del aquilón; no quedará uno solo en sus asambleas.

32 W hat will they answer the messengers of the nation? That the Lord has founded Zion, And the poor of His people shall take refuge in it.

¿Y qué se responderá a los mensajeros de los gentiles? Que el SEÑOR fundó a Sion, y que en ella tendrán confianza los afligidos de su pueblo.
