1 N ow in the second year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; and his spirit was so troubled that his sleep left him.

Y en el segundo año del reinado de Nabucodonosor, soñó Nabucodonosor sueños, y su espíritu se quebrantó, y su sueño huyó de él.

2 T hen the king gave the command to call the magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans to tell the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.

Y mandó el rey llamar a magos, astrólogos, encantadores, y caldeos, para que mostraran al rey sus sueños. Los cuales vinieron, y se presentaron delante del rey.

3 A nd the king said to them, “I have had a dream, and my spirit is anxious to know the dream.”

Y el rey les dijo: He soñado un sueño, y mi espíritu se ha quebrantado por saber el sueño.

4 T hen the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic, “O king, live forever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will give the interpretation.”

Y los caldeos hablaron al rey en siriaco: Rey, para siempre vive: di el sueño a tus siervos, y mostraremos la declaración.

5 T he king answered and said to the Chaldeans, “My decision is firm: if you do not make known the dream to me, and its interpretation, you shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made an ash heap.

El rey respondió y dijo a los caldeos: El negocio se me fue de la memoria; si no me mostráis el sueño y su declaración, seréis hechos pedazos, y vuestras casas serán puestas por muladares.

6 H owever, if you tell the dream and its interpretation, you shall receive from me gifts, rewards, and great honor. Therefore tell me the dream and its interpretation.”

Y si me mostrareis el sueño y su declaración, recibiréis de mí dones y mercedes y gran honra; por tanto, mostradme el sueño y su declaración.

7 T hey answered again and said, “Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will give its interpretation.”

Respondieron la segunda vez, y dijeron: Diga el rey el sueño a sus siervos, y le mostraremos su declaración.

8 T he king answered and said, “I know for certain that you would gain time, because you see that my decision is firm:

El rey respondió, y dijo: Yo conozco ciertamente que vosotros ponéis dilaciones, porque veis que el negocio se me ha ido de la memoria.

9 i f you do not make known the dream to me, there is only one decree for you! For you have agreed to speak lying and corrupt words before me till the time has changed. Therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that you can give me its interpretation.”

Si no me mostráis el sueño, una sola sentencia será de vosotros. Ciertamente preparáis respuesta mentirosa y perversa que decir delante de mí, entre tanto que se muda el tiempo; por tanto, decidme el sueño, para que yo entienda que me podéis mostrar su declaración.

10 T he Chaldeans answered the king, and said, “There is not a man on earth who can tell the king’s matter; therefore no king, lord, or ruler has ever asked such things of any magician, astrologer, or Chaldean.

Los caldeos respondieron delante del rey, y dijeron: No hay hombre sobre la tierra que pueda declarar el negocio del rey. Además de esto, ningún rey, príncipe, ni señor, preguntó cosa semejante a ningún mago, ni astrólogo, ni caldeo.

11 I t is a difficult thing that the king requests, and there is no other who can tell it to the king except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.”

Finalmente, el negocio que el rey demanda, es singular, ni hay quien lo pueda declarar delante del rey, salvo los ángeles de Dios cuya morada no es con la carne.

12 F or this reason the king was angry and very furious, and gave the command to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

Por esto el rey con ira y con gran enojo, mandó que mataran a todos los sabios de Babilonia.

13 S o the decree went out, and they began killing the wise men; and they sought Daniel and his companions, to kill them. God Reveals Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream

Y se publicó el mandamiento y los sabios eran llevados a la muerte y buscaron a Daniel y a sus compañeros para matarlos.

14 T hen with counsel and wisdom Daniel answered Arioch, the captain of the king’s guard, who had gone out to kill the wise men of Babylon;

Entonces Daniel habló avisada y prudentemente a Arioc, capitán de los de la guardia del rey, que había salido para matar a los sabios de Babilonia.

15 h e answered and said to Arioch the king’s captain, “Why is the decree from the king so urgent?” Then Arioch made the decision known to Daniel.

Habló y dijo a Arioc capitán del rey: ¿Cuál es la causa por la cual este mandamiento se publica de parte del rey tan apresuradamente? Entonces Arioc declaró el negocio a Daniel.

16 S o Daniel went in and asked the king to give him time, that he might tell the king the interpretation.

Y Daniel entró, y pidió al rey que le diera tiempo, y que él mostraría al rey la declaración.

17 T hen Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions,

Entonces Daniel se fue a su casa y declaró el negocio a Ananías, Misael, y Azarías, sus compañeros,

18 t hat they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

para demandar misericordias del Dios del cielo sobre este misterio, y que Daniel y sus compañeros no perecieran con los otros sabios de Babilonia.

19 T hen the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

Entonces el misterio fue revelado a Daniel en visión de noche; por lo cual Daniel bendijo al Dios del cielo.

20 D aniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His.

Y Daniel habló, y dijo: Sea bendito el nombre de Dios de siglo hasta siglo; porque suya es la sabiduría y la fortaleza.

21 A nd He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding.

Y él es el que muda los tiempos y las oportunidades; quita reyes, y pone reyes; da la sabiduría a los sabios, y la ciencia a los entendidos.

22 H e reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, And light dwells with Him.

El revela lo profundo y lo escondido; conoce lo que está en tinieblas, y la luz mora con él.

23 “ I thank You and praise You, O God of my fathers; You have given me wisdom and might, And have now made known to me what we asked of You, For You have made known to us the king’s demand.” Daniel Explains the Dream

A ti, oh Dios de mis padres, confieso y te alabo, que me diste sabiduría y fortaleza, y ahora me enseñaste lo que te pedimos; pues nos has enseñado el negocio del rey.

24 T herefore Daniel went to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon. He went and said thus to him: “Do not destroy the wise men of Babylon; take me before the king, and I will tell the king the interpretation.”

Después de esto Daniel entró a Arioc, al cual el rey había puesto para matar a los sabios de Babilonia; fue, y le dijo así: No mates a los sabios de Babilonia; llévame delante del rey, que yo le mostraré al rey la declaración.

25 T hen Arioch quickly brought Daniel before the king, and said thus to him, “I have found a man of the captives of Judah, who will make known to the king the interpretation.”

Entonces Arioc llevó prestamente a Daniel delante del rey, y le dijo así: Un varón de los transportados de Judá he hallado, el cual declarará al rey la interpretación.

26 T he king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, “Are you able to make known to me the dream which I have seen, and its interpretation?”

Respondió el rey, y dijo a Daniel, al cual llamaban Beltasar: ¿Podrás tú hacerme entender el sueño que vi, y su declaración?

27 D aniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, “The secret which the king has demanded, the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, and the soothsayers cannot declare to the king.

Daniel respondió delante del rey, y dijo: El misterio que el rey demanda, ni sabios, ni astrólogos, ni magos, ni adivinos lo pueden enseñar al rey.

28 B ut there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed, were these:

Mas hay un Dios en los cielos, el cual revela los misterios, y él ha hecho saber al rey Nabucodonosor lo que ha de acontecer al cabo de días. Tu sueño, y las visiones de tu cabeza sobre tu cama, es esto:

29 A s for you, O king, thoughts came to your mind while on your bed, about what would come to pass after this; and He who reveals secrets has made known to you what will be.

Tú, oh rey, en tu cama, te subieron tus pensamientos por saber lo que había de ser en lo por venir; y el que revela los misterios te mostró lo que ha de ser.

30 B ut as for me, this secret has not been revealed to me because I have more wisdom than anyone living, but for our sakes who make known the interpretation to the king, and that you may know the thoughts of your heart.

Y a mí me ha sido revelado este misterio, no por sabiduría que en mí haya, más que en todos los vivientes, sino para que yo notifique al rey la declaración, y que entendieras los pensamientos de tu corazón.

31 “ You, O king, were watching; and behold, a great image! This great image, whose splendor was excellent, stood before you; and its form was awesome.

Tú, oh rey, veías, y he aquí una gran imagen. Esta imagen, que era muy grande, y cuya gloria era muy sublime, estaba en pie delante de ti, y su aspecto era terrible.

32 T his image’s head was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze,

La cabeza de esta imagen era de fino oro; sus pechos y sus brazos, de plata; su vientre y sus muslos, de bronce;

33 i ts legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay.

sus piernas de hierro; sus pies, en parte de hierro, y en parte de barro cocido.

34 Y ou watched while a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces.

Estabas mirando, hasta que una piedra fue cortada, no con manos, la cual hirió a la imagen en sus pies de hierro y de barro cocido, y los desmenuzó.

35 T hen the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were crushed together, and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors; the wind carried them away so that no trace of them was found. And the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.

Entonces fue también desmenuzado el hierro, el barro cocido, el bronce, la plata y el oro, y se tornaron como tamo de las eras del verano; y los levantó el viento, y nunca más se les halló lugar. Mas la piedra que hirió a la imagen, fue hecha un gran monte, que llenó toda la tierra.

36 “ This is the dream. Now we will tell the interpretation of it before the king.

Este es el sueño; la declaración de él diremos también en presencia del rey.

37 Y ou, O king, are a king of kings. For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, strength, and glory;

Tú, oh rey, eres rey de reyes; porque el Dios del cielo te ha dado el reino, la potencia, la fortaleza, y la majestad.

38 a nd wherever the children of men dwell, or the beasts of the field and the birds of the heaven, He has given them into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all—you are this head of gold.

Y todo lo que habitan hijos de hombres, bestias del campo, y aves del cielo, él ha entregado en tu mano, y te ha hecho enseñorear sobre todo ello; tú eres aquella cabeza de oro.

39 B ut after you shall arise another kingdom inferior to yours; then another, a third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule over all the earth.

Y después de ti se levantará otro reino menor que tú; y otro tercer reino de bronce, el cual se enseñoreará de toda la tierra.

40 A nd the fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron, inasmuch as iron breaks in pieces and shatters everything; and like iron that crushes, that kingdom will break in pieces and crush all the others.

Y el cuarto reino será fuerte como hierro; y como el hierro desmenuza y doma todas las cosas, y como el hierro que quebranta todas estas cosas, desmenuzará y quebrantará.

41 W hereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay.

Y lo que viste de los pies y los dedos, en parte de barro cocido de alfarero, y en parte de hierro, el reino será diviso; y habrá en él algo de fortaleza de hierro, de la manera que viste el hierro mezclado con el tiesto de barro.

42 A nd as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile.

Y los dedos de los pies en parte de hierro, y en parte de barro cocido, en parte el reino será fuerte, y en parte será frágil.

43 A s you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay.

En cuanto a aquello que viste, el hierro mezclado con tiesto de barro, se mezclarán con simiente humana, mas no se pegarán el uno con el otro, como el hierro no se mezcla con el tiesto.

44 A nd in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

Y en los días de estos reyes, el Dios del cielo levantará un Reino que eternalmente no se corromperá; y no será dejado a otro pueblo este reino; el cual desmenuzará y consumirá todos estos reinos, y él permanecerá para siempre.

45 I nasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold—the great God has made known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is sure.” Daniel and His Friends Promoted

De la manera que viste que del monte fue cortada una piedra, que no con manos, desmenuzó al hierro, al bronce, al tiesto, a la plata, y al oro; el Dios grande mostró al rey lo que ha de acontecer en lo por venir: y el sueño es verdadero, y fiel su declaración.

46 T hen King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face, prostrate before Daniel, and commanded that they should present an offering and incense to him.

Entonces el rey Nabucodonosor cayó sobre su rostro, y se humilló ante Daniel, y mandó que le sacrificaren presentes y perfumes.

47 T he king answered Daniel, and said, “Truly your God is the God of gods, the Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, since you could reveal this secret.”

El rey habló a Daniel, y dijo: Ciertamente que el Dios vuestro Dios es Dios de dioses, y el Señor de los reyes, y el descubridor de los misterios, pues pudiste revelar este misterio.

48 T hen the king promoted Daniel and gave him many great gifts; and he made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief administrator over all the wise men of Babylon.

Entonces el rey magnificó a Daniel, y le dio muchos y grandes dones, y lo puso por gobernador de toda la provincia de Babilonia, y por príncipe de los gobernadores sobre todos los sabios de Babilonia.

49 A lso Daniel petitioned the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego over the affairs of the province of Babylon; but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.

Y Daniel solicitó del rey, y él puso sobre los negocios de la provincia de Babilonia a Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego; y Daniel estaba a la puerta del rey.
