1 N ow on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared.

¶ Y el primero de los sábados, muy de mañana, vinieron al monumento, trayendo las drogas aromáticas que habían aparejado, y algunas otras mujeres con ellas.

2 B ut they found the stone rolled away from the tomb.

Y hallaron la piedra revuelta de la puerta del sepulcro.

3 T hen they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

Y entrando, no hallaron el cuerpo del Señor Jesús.

4 A nd it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments.

Y aconteció, que estando ellas espantadas de esto, he aquí se pararon junto a ellas dos varones con vestiduras resplandecientes;

5 T hen, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?

y como tuvieran ellas temor, y bajaran el rostro a tierra, les dijeron: ¿Por qué buscáis entre los muertos al que vive?

6 H e is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee,

No está aquí, mas ha resucitado; acordaos de lo que os habló, cuando aún estaba en Galilea,

7 s aying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ ”

diciendo: Es necesario que el Hijo del hombre sea entregado en manos de hombres pecadores, y que sea colgado en un madero, y resucite al tercer día.

8 A nd they remembered His words.

Entonces ellas se acordaron de sus palabras,

9 T hen they returned from the tomb and told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.

y volviendo del sepulcro, dieron nuevas de todas estas cosas a los once, y a todos los demás.

10 I t was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them, who told these things to the apostles.

Y eran María Magdalena, y Juana, y María madre de Jacobo, y las demás que estaban con ellas, las que dijeron estas cosas a los apóstoles.

11 A nd their words seemed to them like idle tales, and they did not believe them.

Mas a ellos les parecía como locura las palabras de ellas, y no las creyeron.

12 B ut Peter arose and ran to the tomb; and stooping down, he saw the linen cloths lying by themselves; and he departed, marveling to himself at what had happened. The Road to Emmaus

Pero levantándose Pedro, corrió al sepulcro; y cuando miró dentro, vio sólo los lienzos allí echados; y se fue maravillado entre sí de lo que había sucedido.

13 N ow behold, two of them were traveling that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was seven miles from Jerusalem.

¶ Y he aquí, dos de ellos iban el mismo día a una aldea que estaba de Jerusalén sesenta estadios, llamada Emaús.

14 A nd they talked together of all these things which had happened.

E iban hablando entre sí de todas aquellas cosas que habían acaecido.

15 S o it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them.

Y aconteció que yendo en comunión entre sí, y preguntándose el uno al otro, el mismo Jesús se llegó, e iba con ellos juntamente.

16 B ut their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him.

Mas los ojos de ellos eran detenidos, para que no le conocieran.

17 A nd He said to them, “What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad?”

Y les dijo: ¿Qué pláticas son éstas que tratáis entre vosotros andando, y estáis tristes?

18 T hen the one whose name was Cleopas answered and said to Him, “Are You the only stranger in Jerusalem, and have You not known the things which happened there in these days?”

Y respondiendo el uno, que se llamaba Cleofas, le dijo: ¿Tú solo peregrino eres en Jerusalén, y no has sabido las cosas que en ella han acontecido estos días?

19 A nd He said to them, “What things?” So they said to Him, “The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a Prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,

Entonces él les dijo: ¿Qué cosas ? Y ellos le dijeron: De Jesús Nazareno, el cual fue varón profeta, poderoso en obra y en palabra delante de Dios y de todo el pueblo;

20 a nd how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death, and crucified Him.

y cómo le entregaron los príncipes de los sacerdotes y nuestros príncipes a condenación de muerte, y le colgaron de un madero.

21 B ut we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened.

Pero nosotros esperábamos que él era el que había de redimir a Israel; y ahora sobre todo esto, hoy es el tercer día que esto ha acontecido.

22 Y es, and certain women of our company, who arrived at the tomb early, astonished us.

Aunque también unas mujeres de los nuestros nos han espantado, las cuales antes del día fueron al sepulcro;

23 W hen they did not find His body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said He was alive.

y no hallando su cuerpo, vinieron diciendo que también habían visto visión de ángeles, los cuales dijeron que él vive.

24 A nd certain of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said; but Him they did not see.”

Y fueron algunos de los nuestros al sepulcro, y hallaron así como las mujeres habían dicho; más a él no le vieron.

25 T hen He said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!

Entonces él les dijo: ¡Oh insensatos, y tardos de corazón para creer todo lo que los profetas han dicho!

26 O ught not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?”

¿No era necesario que el Cristo padeciera estas cosas, y que entrara (así) en su gloria?

27 A nd beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. The Disciples’ Eyes Opened

Y comenzando desde Moisés, y de todos los profetas, les declaraba esto en todas las Escrituras que eran de él.

28 T hen they drew near to the village where they were going, and He indicated that He would have gone farther.

Y llegaron a la aldea a donde iban; y él hizo como que iba más lejos.

29 B ut they constrained Him, saying, “Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.” And He went in to stay with them.

Mas ellos le detuvieron por fuerza, diciendo: Quédate con nosotros, porque se hace tarde, y el día ya ha declinado. Y entró con ellos.

30 N ow it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them.

Y aconteció, que estando sentado con ellos a la mesa, tomando el pan, bendijo, y partió, y les dio.

31 T hen their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.

Entonces fueron abiertos los ojos de ellos, y le conocieron; mas él se desapareció de los ojos de ellos.

32 A nd they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”

Y decían el uno al otro: ¿No ardía nuestro corazón en nosotros, mientras nos hablaba en el camino, y cuando nos abría las Escrituras?

33 S o they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together,

Y levantándose en la misma hora, tornáronse a Jerusalén, y hallaron a los once reunidos, y a los que estaban con ellos.

34 s aying, “The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!”

Que decían: Ha resucitado el Señor verdaderamente, y ha aparecido a Simón.

35 A nd they told about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was known to them in the breaking of bread. Jesus Appears to His Disciples

Entonces ellos contaban las cosas que les habían acontecido en el camino, y cómo había sido conocido de ellos en el partir el pan.

36 N ow as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, “Peace to you.”

¶ Y entre tanto que ellos hablaban estas cosas, Jesús se puso en medio de ellos, y les dijo: Paz sea a vosotros.

37 B ut they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit.

Entonces ellos espantados y asombrados, pensaban que veían algún espíritu.

38 A nd He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts?

Mas él les dice: ¿Por qué estáis turbados, y suben pensamientos a vuestros corazones?

39 B ehold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”

Mirad mis manos y mis pies, que yo mismo soy; palpad, y ved; que un espíritu no tiene carne ni huesos, como veis que yo tengo.

40 W hen He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet.

Y diciendo esto, les mostró las manos y los pies.

41 B ut while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, “Have you any food here?”

Y no creyéndolo aún ellos de gozo, y maravillados, les dijo: ¿Tenéis aquí algo de comer?

42 S o they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb.

Entonces ellos le presentaron parte de un pez asado, y un panal de miel.

43 A nd He took it and ate in their presence. The Scriptures Opened

Lo cual él tomó, y comió delante de ellos.

44 T hen He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.”

Y les dijo: Estas son las palabras que os hablé, estando aún con vosotros: que era necesario que se cumplieran todas las cosas que están escritas de mí en la ley de Moisés, y en los profetas, y en los salmos.

45 A nd He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

Entonces les abrió el sentido, para que entendieran las Escrituras;

46 T hen He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,

y les dijo: Así está escrito, y así fue necesario que el Cristo padeciera, y resucitara de los muertos al tercer día;

47 a nd that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

y que se predicara en su nombre el arrepentimiento y la remisión de pecados en todas las naciones, comenzando desde Jerusalén.

48 A nd you are witnesses of these things.

Y vosotros sois testigos de estas cosas.

49 B ehold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” The Ascension

Y he aquí, yo enviaré al Prometido de mi Padre sobre vosotros; mas vosotros asentad en la ciudad de Jerusalén, hasta que seáis investidos de potencia de lo alto.

50 A nd He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them.

¶ Y los sacó fuera hasta Betania, y alzando sus manos, los bendijo.

51 N ow it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.

Y aconteció que bendiciéndolos, se fue de ellos; y era llevado arriba al cielo.

52 A nd they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy,

Y ellos, después de haberle adorado, se volvieron a Jerusalén con gran gozo;

53 a nd were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen.

y estaban siempre en el Templo, alabando y bendiciendo a Dios. Amén.
