1 “ If you will return, O Israel,” says the Lord, “Return to Me; And if you will put away your abominations out of My sight, Then you shall not be moved.

Si volvieres a mí, oh Israel, dijo el SEÑOR, tendrás reposo; y si quitares de delante de mí tus abominaciones, no pasarás a cautividad.

2 A nd you shall swear, ‘The Lord lives,’ In truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; The nations shall bless themselves in Him, And in Him they shall glory.”

Y jurarás, diciendo, Vive el SEÑOR, con verdad, con juicio, y con justicia; y se bendecirán en él los gentiles, y en él se gloriarán.

3 F or thus says the Lord to the men of Judah and Jerusalem: “Break up your fallow ground, And do not sow among thorns.

Porque así dijo el SEÑOR a todo varón de Judá y de Jerusalén: Haced barbecho para vosotros, y no sembréis sobre espinas.

4 C ircumcise yourselves to the Lord, And take away the foreskins of your hearts, You men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, Lest My fury come forth like fire, And burn so that no one can quench it, Because of the evil of your doings.” An Imminent Invasion

Circuncidaos al SEÑOR, y quitad los prepucios de vuestro corazón, varones de Judá y moradores de Jerusalén; no sea que mi ira salga como fuego, y se encienda y no haya quien apague, por la malicia de vuestras obras.

5 D eclare in Judah and proclaim in Jerusalem, and say: “Blow the trumpet in the land; Cry, ‘Gather together,’ And say, ‘Assemble yourselves, And let us go into the fortified cities.’

Denunciad en Judá, y haced oír en Jerusalén, y decid: Sonad el shofar en la tierra. Pregonad, juntad, y decid: Reuníos, y entrémonos en las ciudades fuertes.

6 S et up the standard toward Zion. Take refuge! Do not delay! For I will bring disaster from the north, And great destruction.”

Alzad bandera en Sion, juntaos, no os detengáis; porque yo hago venir mal del aquilón, y quebrantamiento grande.

7 T he lion has come up from his thicket, And the destroyer of nations is on his way. He has gone forth from his place To make your land desolate. Your cities will be laid waste, Without inhabitant.

El león sube de su guarida, y el destruidor de gentiles ha partido; salió de su asiento para poner tu tierra en soledad; tus ciudades serán asoladas sin morador.

8 F or this, clothe yourself with sackcloth, Lament and wail. For the fierce anger of the Lord Has not turned back from us.

Por esto vestíos de cilicio, endechad y aullad; porque la ira del SEÑOR no se ha apartado de nosotros.

9 “ And it shall come to pass in that day,” says the Lord, “ That the heart of the king shall perish, And the heart of the princes; The priests shall be astonished, And the prophets shall wonder.”

Y será en aquel día, dice el SEÑOR, que desfallecerá el corazón del rey, y el corazón de los príncipes, y los sacerdotes estarán atónitos, y se maravillarán los profetas.

10 T hen I said, “Ah, Lord God! Surely You have greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, Saying, ‘You shall have peace,’ Whereas the sword reaches to the heart.”

(Y dije: ¡Ay, ay, el SEÑOR Dios! Verdaderamente en gran manera has engañado a este pueblo y a Jerusalén, diciendo: Paz tendréis; pues que la espada ha venido hasta el alma.)

11 A t that time it will be said To this people and to Jerusalem, “A dry wind of the desolate heights blows in the wilderness Toward the daughter of My people— Not to fan or to cleanse—

En aquel tiempo se dirá de este pueblo y de Jerusalén: Viento seco de las alturas del desierto vino a la hija de mi pueblo, no para aventar, ni para limpiar.

12 A wind too strong for these will come for Me; Now I will also speak judgment against them.”

Viento más vehemente que éstos me vendrá a mí, porque ahora yo hablaré juicios con ellos.

13 “ Behold, he shall come up like clouds, And his chariots like a whirlwind. His horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us, for we are plundered!”

He aquí que subirá como nube, y su carro como torbellino; más ligeros son sus caballos que las águilas. ¡Ay de nosotros, porque dados somos a despojo!

14 O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, That you may be saved. How long shall your evil thoughts lodge within you?

Lava tu corazón de la malicia, oh Jerusalén, para que seas salva. ¿Hasta cuándo dejarás estar en medio de ti los pensamientos de tu iniquidad?

15 F or a voice declares from Dan And proclaims affliction from Mount Ephraim:

Porque la voz se oye del que trae las nuevas desde Dan, y del que hace oír la calamidad desde el monte de Efraín.

16 “ Make mention to the nations, Yes, proclaim against Jerusalem, That watchers come from a far country And raise their voice against the cities of Judah.

Decid de los gentiles; he aquí, haced oír sobre Jerusalén: Guardas vienen de tierra lejana, y darán su voz sobre las ciudades de Judá.

17 L ike keepers of a field they are against her all around, Because she has been rebellious against Me,” says the Lord.

Como los guardas de las heredades, estuvieron sobre ella en derredor, porque se rebeló contra mí, dice el SEÑOR.

18 “ Your ways and your doings Have procured these things for you. This is your wickedness, Because it is bitter, Because it reaches to your heart.” Sorrow for the Doomed Nation

Tu camino y tus obras te hicieron esto, ésta tu maldad, por lo cual amargura penetrará hasta tu corazón.

19 O my soul, my soul! I am pained in my very heart! My heart makes a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, Because you have heard, O my soul, The sound of the trumpet, The alarm of war.

¡Mis entrañas, mis entrañas! Me duelen las telas de mi corazón; mi corazón ruge dentro de mí; no callaré; porque voz de shofar has oído, oh alma mía, alarma de guerra.

20 D estruction upon destruction is cried, For the whole land is plundered. Suddenly my tents are plundered, And my curtains in a moment.

Quebrantamiento sobre quebrantamiento es llamado; porque toda la tierra es destruida; en un punto son destruidas mis tiendas, en un momento mis cortinas.

21 H ow long will I see the standard, And hear the sound of the trumpet?

¿Hasta cuándo tengo que ver bandera, tengo que oír voz de shofar?

22 “ For My people are foolish, They have not known Me. They are silly children, And they have no understanding. They are wise to do evil, But to do good they have no knowledge.”

Porque mi pueblo es loco; no me conocieron los hijos ignorantes y los no entendidos; sabios para mal hacer, y para bien hacer no supieron.

23 I beheld the earth, and indeed it was without form, and void; And the heavens, they had no light.

Miré la tierra, y he aquí que estaba asolada y vacía; y a los cielos, y no había en ellos luz.

24 I beheld the mountains, and indeed they trembled, And all the hills moved back and forth.

Miré a los montes, y he aquí que temblaban, y todos los collados fueron destruidos.

25 I beheld, and indeed there was no man, And all the birds of the heavens had fled.

Miré, y no aparecía hombre, y todas las aves del cielo se habían ido.

26 I beheld, and indeed the fruitful land was a wilderness, And all its cities were broken down At the presence of the Lord, By His fierce anger.

Miré, y he aquí el Carmelo desierto, y todas sus ciudades eran asoladas a la presencia del SEÑOR, a la presencia de la ira de su furor.

27 F or thus says the Lord: “The whole land shall be desolate; Yet I will not make a full end.

Porque así dijo el SEÑOR: Toda la tierra se asolará; mas no haré consumación.

28 F or this shall the earth mourn, And the heavens above be black, Because I have spoken. I have purposed and will not relent, Nor will I turn back from it.

Por esto la tierra será asolada, y los cielos arriba se oscurecerán, porque hablé, pensé, y no me arrepentí, ni me tornaré de ello.

29 T he whole city shall flee from the noise of the horsemen and bowmen. They shall go into thickets and climb up on the rocks. Every city shall be forsaken, And not a man shall dwell in it.

Del estruendo de la gente de a caballo y de los flecheros huyó toda la ciudad; se entraron en las espesuras de los bosques, y se subieron en peñascos; toda ciudad fue desamparada, y no habita en ellas varón alguno.

30 “ And when you are plundered, What will you do? Though you clothe yourself with crimson, Though you adorn yourself with ornaments of gold, Though you enlarge your eyes with paint, In vain you will make yourself fair; Your lovers will despise you; They will seek your life.

Y tú, destruida, ¿qué harás? Aunque te vistas de grana, aunque te adornes con atavíos de oro, aunque pintes con antimonio tus ojos, en vano te engalanas; te menospreciarán los amadores, buscarán tu vida.

31 “ For I have heard a voice as of a woman in labor, The anguish as of her who brings forth her first child, The voice of the daughter of Zion bewailing herself; She spreads her hands, saying, ‘Woe is me now, for my soul is weary Because of murderers!’

Porque voz oí como de mujer que está de parto, angustia como de primeriza; voz de la hija de Sion que lamenta y extiende sus manos, diciendo: ¡Ay ahora de mí! Que mi alma desmaya a causa de los matadores.
