1 A nd Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets, and said to him, “Get yourself ready, take this flask of oil in your hand, and go to Ramoth Gilead.

Entonces el profeta Eliseo llamó a uno de los hijos de los profetas, y le dijo: Ciñe tus lomos, y toma esta botija de aceite en tu mano, y ve a Ramot de Galaad.

2 N ow when you arrive at that place, look there for Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, and go in and make him rise up from among his associates, and take him to an inner room.

Y cuando llegues allá, verás allí a Jehú hijo de Josafat hijo de Nimsi; y entrando, haz que se levante de entre sus hermanos, y llévalo a la cámara.

3 T hen take the flask of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord: “I have anointed you king over Israel.”’ Then open the door and flee, and do not delay.”

Toma luego la botija de aceite, y derrámala sobre su cabeza, y di: Así dijo el SEÑOR: Yo te he ungido por rey sobre Israel. Y abriendo la puerta, echa a huir, y no esperes.

4 S o the young man, the servant of the prophet, went to Ramoth Gilead.

Fue, pues, el joven, el siervo del profeta, a Ramot de Galaad.

5 A nd when he arrived, there were the captains of the army sitting; and he said, “I have a message for you, Commander.” Jehu said, “For which one of us?” And he said, “For you, Commander.”

Y cuando él entró, he aquí los príncipes del ejército que estaban sentados. Y él dijo: Príncipe, una palabra tengo que decirte. Y Jehú dijo: ¿A cuál de todos nosotros? Y él dijo: A ti, príncipe.

6 T hen he arose and went into the house. And he poured the oil on his head, and said to him, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘I have anointed you king over the people of the Lord, over Israel.

Y él se levantó, y entró en casa; y el otro derramó el aceite sobre su cabeza, y le dijo: Así dijo el SEÑOR Dios de Israel: Yo te he ungido por rey sobre el pueblo del SEÑOR, sobre Israel.

7 Y ou shall strike down the house of Ahab your master, that I may avenge the blood of My servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the Lord, at the hand of Jezebel.

Y herirás la casa de Acab tu señor, para que yo vengue la sangre de mis siervos los profetas, y la sangre de todos los siervos del SEÑOR, de la mano de Jezabel.

8 F or the whole house of Ahab shall perish; and I will cut off from Ahab all the males in Israel, both bond and free.

Y perecerá toda la casa de Acab, y talaré de Acab todo meante a la pared, así al guardado como al quedado en Israel.

9 S o I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah.

Y yo pondré la casa de Acab como la casa de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, y como la casa de Baasa hijo de Ahías.

10 T he dogs shall eat Jezebel on the plot of ground at Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. ’” And he opened the door and fled.

Y a Jezabel la comerán los perros en el campo de Jezreel, y no habrá quien la sepulte. Y abrió la puerta, y echó a huir.

11 T hen Jehu came out to the servants of his master, and one said to him, “ Is all well? Why did this madman come to you?” And he said to them, “You know the man and his babble.”

Después salió Jehú a los siervos de su señor, y le dijeron: ¿Hay paz? ¿Para qué entró a ti aquel demente? Y él les dijo: Vosotros conocéis al hombre y sus palabras.

12 A nd they said, “A lie! Tell us now.” So he said, “Thus and thus he spoke to me, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord: “I have anointed you king over Israel.”’”

Y ellos dijeron: Mentira; decláranoslo ahora. Y él dijo: Así y así me habló, diciendo: Así dijo el SEÑOR: Yo te he ungido por rey sobre Israel.

13 T hen each man hastened to take his garment and put it under him on the top of the steps; and they blew trumpets, saying, “Jehu is king!” Joram of Israel Killed

Y tomaron prestamente cada uno su ropa, y la puso debajo de él en un trono alto, y tocaron el shofar, y dijeron: Jehú es rey.

14 S o Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, conspired against Joram. (Now Joram had been defending Ramoth Gilead, he and all Israel, against Hazael king of Syria.

Así conjuró Jehú hijo de Josafat hijo de Nimsi, contra Joram. (Estaba Joram guardando a Ramot de Galaad con todo Israel, por causa de Hazael rey de Siria.

15 B ut King Joram had returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which the Syrians had inflicted on him when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) And Jehu said, “If you are so minded, let no one leave or escape from the city to go and tell it in Jezreel.”

Pero se había vuelto el rey Joram a Jezreel, para curarse de las heridas que los sirios le habían hecho, peleando contra Hazael rey de Siria). Y Jehú dijo: Si es vuestra voluntad, ninguno escape de la ciudad, para ir a dar las nuevas en Jezreel.

16 S o Jehu rode in a chariot and went to Jezreel, for Joram was laid up there; and Ahaziah king of Judah had come down to see Joram.

Entonces Jehú cabalgó, y se fue a Jezreel, porque Joram estaba allí enfermo. También Ocozías rey de Judá había descendido allá a visitar a Joram.

17 N ow a watchman stood on the tower in Jezreel, and he saw the company of Jehu as he came, and said, “I see a company of men.” And Joram said, “Get a horseman and send him to meet them, and let him say, ‘ Is it peace?’”

Y el atalaya que estaba en la torre de Jezreel, vio la cuadrilla de Jehú, que venía, y dijo: Yo veo una cuadrilla. Y Joram dijo: Toma uno de a caballo, y envía a reconocerlos, y que les diga: ¿Hay paz?

18 S o the horseman went to meet him, and said, “Thus says the king: ‘ Is it peace?’” And Jehu said, “What have you to do with peace? Turn around and follow me.” So the watchman reported, saying, “The messenger went to them, but is not coming back.”

Fue, pues, el de a caballo a reconocerlos, y dijo: El rey dice así: ¿Hay paz? Y Jehú le dijo: ¿Qué tienes tú que ver con la paz? Vuélvete tras mí. El atalaya dio luego aviso, diciendo: El mensajero llegó hasta ellos, y no vuelve.

19 T hen he sent out a second horseman who came to them, and said, “Thus says the king: ‘ Is it peace?’” And Jehu answered, “What have you to do with peace? Turn around and follow me.”

Entonces envió otro de a caballo, el cual llegando a ellos, dijo: El rey dice así: ¿Hay paz? Y Jehú respondió: ¿Qué tienes tú que ver con la paz? Vuélvete tras mí.

20 S o the watchman reported, saying, “He went up to them and is not coming back; and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi, for he drives furiously!”

El atalaya volvió a decir: También éste llegó a ellos y no vuelve; mas el marchar del que viene es como el marchar de Jehú hijo de Nimsi, porque viene impetuosamente.

21 T hen Joram said, “Make ready.” And his chariot was made ready. Then Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot; and they went out to meet Jehu, and met him on the property of Naboth the Jezreelite.

Entonces Joram dijo: Unce. Y unció su carro, salieron Joram rey de Israel, y Ocozías rey de Judá, cada uno en su carro, y salieron a encontrar a Jehú, al cual hallaron en la heredad de Nabot de Jezreel.

22 N ow it happened, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, “ Is it peace, Jehu?” So he answered, “What peace, as long as the harlotries of your mother Jezebel and her witchcraft are so many?”

Y viendo Joram a Jehú, dijo: ¿Hay paz, Jehú? Y él respondió: ¿Qué paz, con las fornicaciones de Jezabel tu madre, y sus muchas hechicerías?

23 T hen Joram turned around and fled, and said to Ahaziah, “Treachery, Ahaziah!”

Entonces Joram volviendo la rienda huyó, y dijo a Ocozías: ¡Traición, Ocozías!

24 N ow Jehu drew his bow with full strength and shot Jehoram between his arms; and the arrow came out at his heart, and he sank down in his chariot.

Mas Jehú entesó su arco cuanto pudo, e hirió a Joram entre sus brazos, y la saeta salió por su corazón, y cayó en su carro.

25 T hen Jehu said to Bidkar his captain, “Pick him up, and throw him into the tract of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite; for remember, when you and I were riding together behind Ahab his father, that the Lord laid this burden upon him:

Dijo luego Jehú a Bidcar su capitán: Tómalo y échalo a un extremo de la heredad de Nabot de Jezreel. Acuérdate que cuando tú y yo íbamos juntos tras Acab su padre, el SEÑOR pronunció esta sentencia sobre él, diciendo:

26 ‘ Surely I saw yesterday the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons,’ says the Lord, ‘and I will repay you in this plot,’ says the Lord. Now therefore, take and throw him on the plot of ground, according to the word of the Lord.” Ahaziah of Judah Killed

Que yo vi ayer la sangre de Nabot, y la sangre de sus hijos, dijo el SEÑOR; y que te las tengo que devolver en esta heredad, dijo el SEÑOR. Tómale pues, ahora, y échalo en la heredad, conforme a la palabra del SEÑOR.

27 B ut when Ahaziah king of Judah saw this, he fled by the road to Beth Haggan. So Jehu pursued him, and said, “Shoot him also in the chariot.” And they shot him at the Ascent of Gur, which is by Ibleam. Then he fled to Megiddo, and died there.

Y viendo esto Ocozías rey de Judá, huyó por el camino de la casa del huerto. Y lo siguió Jehú, diciendo: Herid también a éste en el carro, a la subida de Gur, junto a Ibleam. Y él huyó a Meguido, y murió allí.

28 A nd his servants carried him in the chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his tomb with his fathers in the City of David.

Y sus siervos le llevaron en un carro a Jerusalén, y allá le sepultaron con sus padres, en su sepulcro en la ciudad de David.

29 I n the eleventh year of Joram the son of Ahab, Ahaziah had become king over Judah. Jezebel’s Violent Death

En el undécimo año de Joram hijo de Acab, comenzó a reinar Ocozías sobre Judá.

30 N ow when Jehu had come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she put paint on her eyes and adorned her head, and looked through a window.

Y vino Jehú a Jezreel; y cuando Jezabel lo oyó, adornó sus ojos con antimonio, y atavió su cabeza, y se asomó por una ventana.

31 T hen, as Jehu entered at the gate, she said, “ Is it peace, Zimri, murderer of your master?”

Y cuando entraba Jehú por la puerta, ella dijo: ¿Tuvo paz Zimri, quien mató a su señor?

32 A nd he looked up at the window, and said, “Who is on my side? Who?” So two or three eunuchs looked out at him.

Alzando él entonces su rostro hacia la ventana, dijo: ¿Quién es conmigo? ¿Quién? Y miraron hacia él dos o tres eunucos.

33 T hen he said, “Throw her down.” So they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered on the wall and on the horses; and he trampled her underfoot.

Y él les dijo: Echadla abajo. Y ellos la echaron; y parte de su sangre fue salpicada en la pared, y en los caballos; y él la atropelló.

34 A nd when he had gone in, he ate and drank. Then he said, “Go now, see to this accursed woman, and bury her, for she was a king’s daughter.”

Entró luego, y después que comió y bebió, dijo: Id ahora a ver aquella maldita, y sepultadla; que al fin es hija de rey.

35 S o they went to bury her, but they found no more of her than the skull and the feet and the palms of her hands.

Pero cuando fueron para sepultarla, no hallaron de ella más que la calavera, y los pies, y las palmas de las manos.

36 T herefore they came back and told him. And he said, “This is the word of the Lord, which He spoke by His servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ‘On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel;

Y volvieron, y se lo dijeron. Y él dijo: La palabra de Dios es ésta, la cual él habló por mano de su siervo Elías tisbita, diciendo: En la heredad de Jezreel comerán los perros las carnes de Jezabel.

37 a nd the corpse of Jezebel shall be as refuse on the surface of the field, in the plot at Jezreel, so that they shall not say, “Here lies Jezebel.”’”

Y el cuerpo de Jezabel fue cual estiércol sobre la faz de la tierra en la heredad de Jezreel; de manera que nadie pueda decir: Esta es Jezabel.
