1 “ Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; And hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.

¶ Escuchad, cielos, y hablaré; y oiga la tierra los dichos de mi boca.

2 L et my teaching drop as the rain, My speech distill as the dew, As raindrops on the tender herb, And as showers on the grass.

Goteará como la lluvia mi doctrina; destilará como el rocío mi dicho; como la llovizna sobre la grama, y como las gotas sobre la hierba.

3 F or I proclaim the name of the Lord: Ascribe greatness to our God.

Porque el Nombre del SEÑOR invocaré; engrandeced a nuestro Dios.

4 H e is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.

Del Fuerte, cuya obra es perfecta, porque todos sus caminos son rectitud; Dios de verdad, y ninguna iniquidad en él; es justo y recto.

5 “ They have corrupted themselves; They are not His children, Because of their blemish: A perverse and crooked generation.

Se corrompieron; su mancha es que no son hijos suyos, son generación torcida y perversa.

6 D o you thus deal with the Lord, O foolish and unwise people? Is He not your Father, who bought you? Has He not made you and established you?

¿Así pagáis al SEÑOR, pueblo loco e ignorante? ¿No es él tu padre que te poseyó? El te hizo y te compuso.

7 “ Remember the days of old, Consider the years of many generations. Ask your father, and he will show you; Your elders, and they will tell you:

¶ Acuérdate de los tiempos antiguos; considerad los años de generación y generación; pregunta a tu padre, que él te declarará; a tus viejos, y ellos te dirán;

8 W hen the Most High divided their inheritance to the nations, When He separated the sons of Adam, He set the boundaries of the peoples According to the number of the children of Israel.

cuando el Altísimo hizo heredar a los gentiles, cuando hizo dividir a los hijos de los hombres, cuando estableció los términos de los pueblos según el número de los hijos de Israel.

9 F or the Lord ’s portion is His people; Jacob is the place of His inheritance.

Porque la parte del SEÑOR es su pueblo; Jacob el cordel de su heredad.

10 “ He found him in a desert land And in the wasteland, a howling wilderness; He encircled him, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye.

Le halló en tierra de desierto, y en un desierto horrible y yermo; lo trajo alrededor, lo instruyó, lo guardó como la niña de su ojo.

11 A s an eagle stirs up its nest, Hovers over its young, Spreading out its wings, taking them up, Carrying them on its wings,

Como el águila que despierta su nidada, revolotea sobre sus pollos, extiende sus alas, los toma, los lleva sobre sus espaldas;

12 S o the Lord alone led him, And there was no foreign god with him.

el SEÑOR solo le guió, que no hubo con él dios ajeno.

13 “ He made him ride in the heights of the earth, That he might eat the produce of the fields; He made him draw honey from the rock, And oil from the flinty rock;

Lo hizo subir sobre las alturas de la tierra, y comió los frutos del campo, e hizo que chupara miel de la peña, y aceite del pedernal fuerte;

14 C urds from the cattle, and milk of the flock, With fat of lambs; And rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, With the choicest wheat; And you drank wine, the blood of the grapes.

manteca de vacas y leche de ovejas, con grosura de corderos, y carneros de los hijos de Basán (fructificación); también machos cabríos, con grosura de riñones de trigo; y sangre de la uva bebiste, vino puro.

15 “ But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; You grew fat, you grew thick, You are obese! Then he forsook God who made him, And scornfully esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

¶ Y engrosó Jesurún (el recto), y tiró coces; (te engordaste, te engrosaste, te cubriste;) y dejó al Dios que le hizo, y menospreció al Fuerte de su salud.

16 T hey provoked Him to jealousy with foreign gods; With abominations they provoked Him to anger.

Le despertaron a celos con los dioses ajenos; le ensañaron con abominaciones.

17 T hey sacrificed to demons, not to God, To gods they did not know, To new gods, new arrivals That your fathers did not fear.

Sacrificaron a los diablos, no a Dios; a los dioses que no conocieron; nuevos dioses, venidos de cerca, que no habían temido vuestros padres.

18 O f the Rock who begot you, you are unmindful, And have forgotten the God who fathered you.

Del Fuerte que te engendró, te has olvidado; te has olvidado del Dios que te dio a luz con dolor.

19 “ And when the Lord saw it, He spurned them, Because of the provocation of His sons and His daughters.

¶ Y lo vio el SEÑOR, y se encendió con ira, a causa de sus hijos y de sus hijas.

20 A nd He said: ‘I will hide My face from them, I will see what their end will be, For they are a perverse generation, Children in whom is no faith.

Y dijo: Esconderé de ellos mi rostro, veré cuál será su postrimería; que son generación de perversidades, hijos sin fe.

21 T hey have provoked Me to jealousy by what is not God; They have moved Me to anger by their foolish idols. But I will provoke them to jealousy by those who are not a nation; I will move them to anger by a foolish nation.

Ellos me despertaron a celos con lo que no es Dios; me hicieron ensañar con sus vanidades; y yo también los despertaré a celos con un pueblo que no es pueblo, con gente loca los haré ensañar.

22 F or a fire is kindled in My anger, And shall burn to the lowest hell; It shall consume the earth with her increase, And set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

Porque fuego se encenderá en mi furor, y arderá hasta lo más profundo del Seol; y devorará la tierra y sus frutos, y abrasará los fundamentos de los montes.

23 ‘ I will heap disasters on them; I will spend My arrows on them.

Yo agotaré males sobre ellos; emplearé en ellos mis saetas.

24 T hey shall be wasted with hunger, Devoured by pestilence and bitter destruction; I will also send against them the teeth of beasts, With the poison of serpents of the dust.

Consumidos serán de hambre, y comidos de fiebre ardiente y de talamiento amargo; diente de bestias enviaré también sobre ellos, con veneno de serpientes de la tierra.

25 T he sword shall destroy outside; There shall be terror within For the young man and virgin, The nursing child with the man of gray hairs.

Por fuera desolará la espada, y dentro de las cámaras el espanto; así al joven como a la doncella, al que mama como al hombre cano.

26 I would have said, “I will dash them in pieces, I will make the memory of them to cease from among men,”

¶ Dije: Los quebrantará en pedazos, haría cesar de entre los hombres la memoria de ellos,

27 H ad I not feared the wrath of the enemy, Lest their adversaries should misunderstand, Lest they should say, “Our hand is high; And it is not the Lord who has done all this.”’

si no temiera la ira del enemigo, no sea que se envanezcan sus adversarios, no sea que digan: Nuestra mano alta ha hecho todo esto, no el SEÑOR.

28 “ For they are a nation void of counsel, Nor is there any understanding in them.

Porque son nación gentil privada de consejos, y no hay en ellos inteligencia.

29 O h, that they were wise, that they understood this, That they would consider their latter end!

¡Deseo que fueran sabios, si fueran prudentes entenderían su postrimería!

30 H ow could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Unless their Rock had sold them, And the Lord had surrendered them?

¿Cómo podría perseguir uno a mil, y dos harían huir a diez millares, si su Fuerte no los hubiera vendido, y el SEÑOR no los hubiera entregado?

31 F or their rock is not like our Rock, Even our enemies themselves being judges.

Que el fuerte de ellos no es como nuestro Fuerte; y aun nuestros enemigos son de ello jueces.

32 F or their vine is of the vine of Sodom And of the fields of Gomorrah; Their grapes are grapes of gall, Their clusters are bitter.

Por tanto de la vid de Sodoma es la vid de ellos, y de los campos de Gomorra; las uvas de ellos son uvas ponzoñosas, racimos muy amargos tienen.

33 T heir wine is the poison of serpents, And the cruel venom of cobras.

Veneno de dragones es su vino, y ponzoña cruel de áspides.

34 ‘ Is this not laid up in store with Me, Sealed up among My treasures?

¿No tengo yo esto guardado, sellado en mis tesoros?

35 V engeance is Mine, and recompense; Their foot shall slip in due time; For the day of their calamity is at hand, And the things to come hasten upon them.’

Mía es la venganza y el pago, al tiempo que su pie vacilará; porque el día de su aflicción está cercano, y lo que les está determinado se apresura.

36 “ For the Lord will judge His people And have compassion on His servants, When He sees that their power is gone, And there is no one remaining, bond or free.

Porque el SEÑOR juzgará a su pueblo, y se arrepentirá él mismo por sus siervos, cuando viere que su fuerza pereció sin quedar nadie guardado ni quedado.

37 H e will say: ‘Where are their gods, The rock in which they sought refuge?

Y dirá: ¿Dónde están sus dioses, el fuerte de quien se ampararon;

38 W ho ate the fat of their sacrifices, And drank the wine of their drink offering? Let them rise and help you, And be your refuge.

que comían el sebo de sus sacrificios, bebían el vino de sus libaciones? Levántense, que os ayuden y os amparen.

39 ‘ Now see that I, even I, am He, And there is no God besides Me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; Nor is there any who can deliver from My hand.

¶ Ved ahora que yo, yo soy él, y no hay dioses conmigo; yo hago morir, y yo hago vivir; yo hiero, y yo curo; y no hay quien pueda librar de mi mano.

40 F or I raise My hand to heaven, And say, “ As I live forever,

Cuando yo alzaré a los cielos mi mano, y diré: Vivo yo para siempre,

41 I f I whet My glittering sword, And My hand takes hold on judgment, I will render vengeance to My enemies, And repay those who hate Me.

si amolare el resplandor de mi espada, y mi mano arrebatare el juicio, yo volveré la venganza a mis enemigos, y daré el pago a los que me aborrecen.

42 I will make My arrows drunk with blood, And My sword shall devour flesh, With the blood of the slain and the captives, From the heads of the leaders of the enemy.”’

Embriagaré de sangre mis saetas, y mi espada devorará carne; en la sangre de los muertos y de los cautivos de los reyes y las cabezas, con venganzas de enemigo.

43 “ Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people; For He will avenge the blood of His servants, And render vengeance to His adversaries; He will provide atonement for His land and His people.”

Alabad, gentiles, con su pueblo, porque él vengará la sangre de sus siervos, y volverá la venganza a sus enemigos, y reconciliará su tierra, a su pueblo.

44 S o Moses came with Joshua the son of Nun and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people.

¶ Y vino Moisés, y recitó todas las palabras de este cántico a oídos del pueblo, él, y Oseas hijo de Nun.

45 M oses finished speaking all these words to all Israel,

Y acabó Moisés de recitar todas estas palabras a todo Israel;

46 a nd he said to them: “Set your hearts on all the words which I testify among you today, which you shall command your children to be careful to observe—all the words of this law.

y les dijo: Poned vuestro corazón a todas las palabras que yo protesto hoy contra vosotros, para que las mandéis a vuestros hijos, y guarden y cumplan todas las palabras de esta ley.

47 F or it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your life, and by this word you shall prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess.” Moses to Die on Mount Nebo

Porque no os es cosa vana, mas es vuestra vida; y por este negocio haréis prolongar los días sobre la tierra, para heredar la cual pasáis el Jordán.

48 T hen the Lord spoke to Moses that very same day, saying:

Y habló el SEÑOR a Moisés aquel mismo día, diciendo:

49 “ Go up this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, across from Jericho; view the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel as a possession;

Sube a este monte de Abarim, al monte Nebo, que está en la tierra de Moab, que está frente a Jericó, y mira la tierra de Canaán, que yo doy por heredad a los hijos de Israel;

50 a nd die on the mountain which you ascend, and be gathered to your people, just as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people;

y muere en el monte al cual subes, y sé reunido a tu pueblo; de la manera que murió Aarón tu hermano en el monte de Hor, y fue reunido a su pueblo;

51 b ecause you trespassed against Me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah Kadesh, in the Wilderness of Zin, because you did not hallow Me in the midst of the children of Israel.

por cuanto prevaricasteis contra mí en medio de los hijos de Israel en las aguas de Meriba de Cades, en el desierto de Zin; porque no me santificasteis en medio de los hijos de Israel.

52 Y et you shall see the land before you, though you shall not go there, into the land which I am giving to the children of Israel.”

Verás, por tanto, delante de ti la tierra; mas no entrarás allá, a la tierra que doy a los hijos de Israel.
