1 W hen David was a little past the top of the mountain, there was Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth, who met him with a couple of saddled donkeys, and on them two hundred loaves of bread, one hundred clusters of raisins, one hundred summer fruits, and a skin of wine.

¶ Y cuando David pasó un poco de la cumbre del monte, he aquí Siba, el criado de Mefi-boset, que lo salía a recibir con un par de asnos enalbardados, y sobre ellos doscientos panes, y cien hilos de pasas, y cien panes de higos secos, y un cuero de vino.

2 A nd the king said to Ziba, “What do you mean to do with these?” So Ziba said, “The donkeys are for the king’s household to ride on, the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat, and the wine for those who are faint in the wilderness to drink.”

Y dijo el rey a Siba: ¿Qué es esto? Y Siba respondió: Los asnos son para la familia del rey, en que suban; los panes y la pasa para que coman los criados, y el vino, para que beban los que se cansaren en el desierto.

3 T hen the king said, “And where is your master’s son?” And Ziba said to the king, “Indeed he is staying in Jerusalem, for he said, ‘Today the house of Israel will restore the kingdom of my father to me.’”

Y dijo el rey: ¿Dónde está el hijo de tu señor? Y Siba respondió al rey: He aquí él se ha quedado en Jerusalén, porque ha dicho: Hoy me devolverá la casa de Israel el reino de mi padre.

4 S o the king said to Ziba, “Here, all that belongs to Mephibosheth is yours.” And Ziba said, “I humbly bow before you, that I may find favor in your sight, my lord, O king!” Shimei Curses David

Entonces el rey dijo a Siba: He aquí, sea tuyo todo lo que tiene Mefi-boset. Y respondió Siba inclinándose: Rey señor mío, halle yo gracia delante de ti.

5 N ow when King David came to Bahurim, there was a man from the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei the son of Gera, coming from there. He came out, cursing continuously as he came.

¶ Y vino el rey David hasta Bahurim; y he aquí, salía uno de la familia de la casa de Saúl, el cual se llamaba Simei, hijo de Gera; y salía maldiciendo,

6 A nd he threw stones at David and at all the servants of King David. And all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.

y echando piedras contra David, y contra todos los siervos del rey David; y todo el pueblo, y todos los hombres valientes estaban a su diestra y a su siniestra.

7 A lso Shimei said thus when he cursed: “Come out! Come out! You bloodthirsty man, you rogue!

Y decía Simei, maldiciéndole: Sal, sal, varón sanguinario, y hombre de Belial;

8 T he Lord has brought upon you all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose place you have reigned; and the Lord has delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son. So now you are caught in your own evil, because you are a bloodthirsty man!”

el SEÑOR te ha dado el pago de toda la sangre de la casa de Saúl, en lugar del cual tú has reinado; mas el SEÑOR ha entregado el reino en mano de tu hijo Absalón; y he aquí tú eres tomado en tu maldad, porque eres varón sanguinario.

9 T hen Abishai the son of Zeruiah said to the king, “Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Please, let me go over and take off his head!”

Entonces Abisai hijo de Sarvia, dijo al rey: ¿Por qué maldice este perro muerto a mi señor el rey? Yo te ruego que me dejes pasar, y le quitaré la cabeza.

10 B ut the king said, “What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? So let him curse, because the Lord has said to him, ‘Curse David.’ Who then shall say, ‘Why have you done so?’”

Y el rey respondió: ¿Qué tengo yo con vosotros, hijos de Sarvia? El maldice así, porque el SEÑOR le ha dicho que maldiga a David; ¿quién pues le dirá: Por qué lo haces así?

11 A nd David said to Abishai and all his servants, “See how my son who came from my own body seeks my life. How much more now may this Benjamite? Let him alone, and let him curse; for so the Lord has ordered him.

Y dijo David a Abisai y a todos sus siervos: He aquí, mi hijo que ha salido de mis entrañas, acecha mi vida; ¿cuánto más ahora un hijo de Jemini? Dejadle que maldiga, que el SEÑOR se lo ha dicho.

12 I t may be that the Lord will look on my affliction, and that the Lord will repay me with good for his cursing this day.”

Por ventura el SEÑOR mirará mi aflicción, y me dará el SEÑOR bien por sus maldiciones de hoy.

13 A nd as David and his men went along the road, Shimei went along the hillside opposite him and cursed as he went, threw stones at him and kicked up dust.

Y como David y los suyos iban por el camino, Simei iba por el lado del monte delante de él, andando y maldiciendo, y arrojando piedras delante de él, y esparciendo polvo.

14 N ow the king and all the people who were with him became weary; so they refreshed themselves there. The Advice of Ahithophel

Y el rey y todo el pueblo que con él estaba, llegaron fatigados, y descansaron allí.

15 M eanwhile Absalom and all the people, the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem; and Ahithophel was with him.

¶ Y Absalón y todo el pueblo, los varones de Israel, entraron en Jerusalén, y con él Ahitofel.

16 A nd so it was, when Hushai the Archite, David’s friend, came to Absalom, that Hushai said to Absalom, “ Long live the king! Long live the king!”

Y aconteció que cuando Husai, el arquita, compañero especial de David llegó a Absalón, le dijo Husai: ¡Viva el rey, viva el rey!

17 S o Absalom said to Hushai, “ Is this your loyalty to your friend? Why did you not go with your friend?”

Y Absalón dijo a Husai: ¿Esta es tu misericordia para con tu amigo? ¿Por qué no fuiste con tu amigo?

18 A nd Hushai said to Absalom, “No, but whom the Lord and this people and all the men of Israel choose, his I will be, and with him I will remain.

Y Husai respondió a Absalón: No; antes al que eligiere el SEÑOR y este pueblo y todos los varones de Israel, de aquel seré yo, y con aquel me quedaré.

19 F urthermore, whom should I serve? Should I not serve in the presence of his son? As I have served in your father’s presence, so will I be in your presence.”

¿Y a quién había yo de servir? ¿No es a su hijo? Como he servido delante de tu padre, así seré delante de ti.

20 T hen Absalom said to Ahithophel, “Give advice as to what we should do.”

Entonces dijo Absalón a Ahitofel: Dadnos consejo sobre qué haremos.

21 A nd Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Go in to your father’s concubines, whom he has left to keep the house; and all Israel will hear that you are abhorred by your father. Then the hands of all who are with you will be strong.”

Y Ahitofel dijo a Absalón: Entra a las concubinas de tu padre, que él dejó para guardar la casa; y todo el pueblo de Israel oirá que te has hecho aborrecible a tu padre, y así se esforzarán las manos de todos los que están contigo.

22 S o they pitched a tent for Absalom on the top of the house, and Absalom went in to his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.

Entonces pusieron una tienda a Absalón sobre el terrado, y entró Absalón a las concubinas de su padre, en ojos de todo Israel.

23 N ow the advice of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if one had inquired at the oracle of God. So was all the advice of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.

Y el consejo que daba Ahitofel en aquellos días, era como si consultaran la palabra de Dios. Tal era el consejo de Ahitofel, así con David como con Absalón.
