1 T hen they told David, saying, “Look, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and they are robbing the threshing floors.”

¶ Y dieron aviso a David, diciendo: He aquí que los filisteos combaten a Keila, y roban las eras.

2 T herefore David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go and attack these Philistines?” And the Lord said to David, “Go and attack the Philistines, and save Keilah.”

Y David consultó al SEÑOR, diciendo: ¿Iré a herir a estos filisteos? Y el SEÑOR respondió a David: Ve, hiere a los filisteos, y salva a Keila.

3 B ut David’s men said to him, “Look, we are afraid here in Judah. How much more then if we go to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?”

Mas los varones que estaban con David le dijeron: He aquí que nosotros aquí en Judá estamos con miedo; ¿cuánto más si fuéremos a Keila contra el ejército de los filisteos?

4 T hen David inquired of the Lord once again. And the Lord answered him and said, “Arise, go down to Keilah. For I will deliver the Philistines into your hand.”

Entonces David volvió a consultar al SEÑOR. Y el SEÑOR le respondió, y dijo: Levántate, desciende a Keila, que yo entregaré en tus manos a los filisteos.

5 A nd David and his men went to Keilah and fought with the Philistines, struck them with a mighty blow, and took away their livestock. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.

Y partió David con sus hombres a Keila, y peleó contra los filisteos, y trajo antecogidos sus ganados, y los hirió con grande estrago; y libró David a los de Keila.

6 N ow it happened, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David at Keilah, that he went down with an ephod in his hand.

Y aconteció que, huyendo Abiatar hijo de Ahimelec a David a Keila, vino con el efod en su mano.

7 A nd Saul was told that David had gone to Keilah. So Saul said, “God has delivered him into my hand, for he has shut himself in by entering a town that has gates and bars.”

¶ Y fue dicho a Saúl como David había venido a Keila. Entonces dijo Saúl: Dios lo ha traído a mis manos; porque él está encerrado, habiéndose metido en una ciudad con puertas y cerraduras.

8 T hen Saul called all the people together for war, to go down to Keilah to besiege David and his men.

Y convocó Saúl todo el pueblo a la batalla, para descender a Keila, y poner cerco a David y a los suyos.

9 W hen David knew that Saul plotted evil against him, he said to Abiathar the priest, “Bring the ephod here.”

Mas entendiendo David que Saúl ideaba el mal contra él, dijo a Abiatar sacerdote: Trae el efod.

10 T hen David said, “O Lord God of Israel, Your servant has certainly heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah to destroy the city for my sake.

Y dijo David: SEÑOR Dios de Israel, tu siervo ha oído que Saúl procura venir contra Keila, a destruir la ciudad por causa mía.

11 W ill the men of Keilah deliver me into his hand? Will Saul come down, as Your servant has heard? O Lord God of Israel, I pray, tell Your servant.” And the Lord said, “He will come down.”

¿Me entregarán los señores de Keila en sus manos? ¿Descenderá Saúl, como tu siervo ha oído decir? SEÑOR Dios de Israel, te ruego que lo declares a tu siervo. Y el SEÑOR dijo: Sí, descenderá.

12 T hen David said, “Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul?” And the Lord said, “They will deliver you. ”

Dijo luego David: ¿Me entregarán los señores de Keila a mí y a los varones que están conmigo en manos de Saúl? Y el SEÑOR respondió: Te entregarán.

13 S o David and his men, about six hundred, arose and departed from Keilah and went wherever they could go. Then it was told Saul that David had escaped from Keilah; so he halted the expedition. David in Wilderness Strongholds

David entonces se levantó con sus hombres, que eran como seiscientos, y salieron de Keila, y fueron de una parte a otra. Y vino la nueva a Saúl de como David se había escapado de Keila; y dejó de salir.

14 A nd David stayed in strongholds in the wilderness, and remained in the mountains in the Wilderness of Ziph. Saul sought him every day, but God did not deliver him into his hand.

¶ Y David se estaba en el desierto en peñas, y habitaba en un monte en el desierto de Zif; y lo buscaba Saúl todos los días, mas Dios no lo entregó en sus manos.

15 S o David saw that Saul had come out to seek his life. And David was in the Wilderness of Ziph in a forest.

Viendo, pues, David que Saúl había salido en busca de su alma, se estaba él en el bosque en el desierto de Zif.

16 T hen Jonathan, Saul’s son, arose and went to David in the woods and strengthened his hand in God.

Entonces se levantó Jonatán hijo de Saúl, y vino a David en el bosque, y fortaleció su mano en Dios.

17 A nd he said to him, “Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you. You shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you. Even my father Saul knows that.”

Y le dijo: No temas, que no te hallará la mano de Saúl mi padre, y tú reinarás sobre Israel, y yo seré segundo después de ti; y aun mi padre así lo sabe.

18 S o the two of them made a covenant before the Lord. And David stayed in the woods, and Jonathan went to his own house.

Y entre ambos hicieron pacto delante del SEÑOR; y David se quedó en el bosque, y Jonatán se volvió a su casa.

19 T hen the Ziphites came up to Saul at Gibeah, saying, “Is David not hiding with us in strongholds in the woods, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?

¶ Y subieron los de Zif a decir a Saúl en Gabaa: ¿No está David escondido en nuestra tierra en las peñas del bosque, en el collado de Haquila (oscuro) que está a la mano derecha del desierto?

20 N ow therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of your soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king’s hand.”

Por tanto, rey, desciende ahora presto, según todo el deseo de tu alma, y nosotros lo entregaremos en la mano del rey.

21 A nd Saul said, “Blessed are you of the Lord, for you have compassion on me.

Y Saúl dijo: Benditos seáis vosotros del SEÑOR, que habéis tenido compasión de mí.

22 P lease go and find out for sure, and see the place where his hideout is, and who has seen him there. For I am told he is very crafty.

Id, pues, ahora, apercibid aún, considerad y ved su lugar donde tiene el pie, y quién lo haya visto allí; porque se me ha dicho que él es en gran manera prudente.

23 S ee therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hides; and come back to me with certainty, and I will go with you. And it shall be, if he is in the land, that I will search for him throughout all the clans of Judah.”

Considerad, pues, y ved todos los escondrijos donde se oculta, y volved a mí con la certidumbre, y yo iré con vosotros; que si él estuviere en la tierra, yo le buscaré con todos los millares de Judá.

24 S o they arose and went to Ziph before Saul. But David and his men were in the Wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.

Y ellos se levantaron, y se fueron a Zif delante de Saúl. Mas David y sus varones estaban en el desierto de Maón, en la llanura que está a la diestra del desierto.

25 W hen Saul and his men went to seek him, they told David. Therefore he went down to the rock, and stayed in the Wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued David in the Wilderness of Maon.

Y partió Saúl con sus varones a buscarlo; pero fue dado aviso a David, y descendió de allí a la peña, y se quedó en el desierto de Maón. Lo cual cuando Saúl oyó, siguió a David al desierto de Maón.

26 T hen Saul went on one side of the mountain, and David and his men on the other side of the mountain. So David made haste to get away from Saul, for Saul and his men were encircling David and his men to take them.

Y Saúl iba por un lado del monte, y David con los suyos por el otro lado del monte; y David se daba prisa para ir delante de Saúl; mas Saúl y los suyos habían encerrado a David y a los suyos para tomarlos.

27 B ut a messenger came to Saul, saying, “Hurry and come, for the Philistines have invaded the land!”

Entonces vino un mensajero a Saúl, diciendo: Ven luego, porque los filisteos han entrado con ímpetu en la tierra.

28 T herefore Saul returned from pursuing David, and went against the Philistines; so they called that place the Rock of Escape.

Se volvió, por tanto, Saúl de perseguir a David, y partió contra los filisteos. Por esta causa pusieron a aquel lugar por nombre Sela-hama-lecot (peña de las divisiones).

29 T hen David went up from there and dwelt in strongholds at En Gedi.

Entonces David subió de allí, y habitó en los parajes fuertes en En-gadi.
