1 N ow Josiah kept a Passover to the Lord in Jerusalem, and they slaughtered the Passover lambs on the fourteenth day of the first month.

Y Josías hizo pascua al SEÑOR en Jerusalén, y sacrificaron la pascua a los catorce del mes primero.

2 A nd he set the priests in their duties and encouraged them for the service of the house of the Lord.

Y puso a los sacerdotes en sus estancias, y los confirmó en el ministerio de la Casa del SEÑOR.

3 T hen he said to the Levites who taught all Israel, who were holy to the Lord: “Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David, king of Israel, built. It shall no longer be a burden on your shoulders. Now serve the Lord your God and His people Israel.

Y dijo a los levitas que enseñaban a todo Israel, y que eran santos al SEÑOR: Poned el arca del santuario en la Casa que edificó Salomón hijo de David, rey de Israel, para que no la carguéis más sobre los hombros. Ahora serviréis al SEÑOR vuestro Dios, y a su pueblo Israel.

4 P repare yourselves according to your fathers’ houses, according to your divisions, following the written instruction of David king of Israel and the written instruction of Solomon his son.

Apercibíos según las casas de vuestros padres, por vuestros órdenes, conforme al escrito de David rey de Israel, y de Salomón su hijo.

5 A nd stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of your brethren the lay people, and according to the division of the father’s house of the Levites.

Estad en el santuario según el repartimiento de las familias de los padres de vuestros hermanos los hijos del pueblo, y según el repartimiento de la familia de los levitas.

6 S o slaughter the Passover offerings, consecrate yourselves, and prepare them for your brethren, that they may do according to the word of the Lord by the hand of Moses.”

Y sacrificad la pascua, y santificaos, y apercibid a vuestros hermanos, para que hagan conforme a la palabra del SEÑOR dada por mano de Moisés.

7 T hen Josiah gave the lay people lambs and young goats from the flock, all for Passover offerings for all who were present, to the number of thirty thousand, as well as three thousand cattle; these were from the king’s possessions.

Y ofreció el rey Josías a los del pueblo ovejas, corderos, y cabritos de los rebaños, en número de treinta mil, y tres mil bueyes, todo para la pascua, para todos los que se hallaron presentes; esto de la hacienda del rey.

8 A nd his leaders gave willingly to the people, to the priests, and to the Levites. Hilkiah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, rulers of the house of God, gave to the priests for the Passover offerings two thousand six hundred from the flock, and three hundred cattle.

También sus príncipes ofrecieron de su voluntad al pueblo, y a los sacerdotes y levitas. Hilcías, Zacarías y Jehiel, príncipes de la Casa de Dios, dieron a los sacerdotes para hacer la pascua dos mil seiscientas ovejas, y trescientos bueyes.

9 A lso Conaniah, his brothers Shemaiah and Nethanel, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of the Levites, gave to the Levites for Passover offerings five thousand from the flock and five hundred cattle.

Asimismo Conanías, Semeías y Natanael sus hermanos, y Hasabías, Jehiel, y Josabad, príncipes de los levitas, dieron a los levitas para los sacrificios de la pascua cinco mil ovejas, y quinientos bueyes.

10 S o the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their places, and the Levites in their divisions, according to the king’s command.

Aparejado así el servicio, los sacerdotes se pusieron en sus estancias, y asimismo los levitas en sus órdenes, conforme al mandamiento del rey.

11 A nd they slaughtered the Passover offerings; and the priests sprinkled the blood with their hands, while the Levites skinned the animals.

Y sacrificaron la pascua; y esparcían los sacerdotes la sangre tomada de mano de los levitas, quienes los desollaban.

12 T hen they removed the burnt offerings that they might give them to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of the lay people, to offer to the Lord, as it is written in the Book of Moses. And so they did with the cattle.

Y apartaron luego parte de los animales que tenían para el holocausto, para dar conforme a los repartimientos por las familias de los del pueblo, a fin de que ofrecieran al SEÑOR, según está escrito en el libro de Moisés: y asimismo apartaron de los bueyes.

13 A lso they roasted the Passover offerings with fire according to the ordinance; but the other holy offerings they boiled in pots, in caldrons, and in pans, and divided them quickly among all the lay people.

Y asaron la pascua al fuego según la ordenanza; mas lo que había sido santificado lo cocieron en ollas, en calderos, y calderas, y lo repartieron prestamente a todo el pueblo.

14 T hen afterward they prepared portions for themselves and for the priests, because the priests, the sons of Aaron, were busy in offering burnt offerings and fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared portions for themselves and for the priests, the sons of Aaron.

Y después aderezaron para sí y para los sacerdotes; porque los sacerdotes, hijos de Aarón, estuvieron ocupados hasta la noche en el sacrificio de los holocaustos y de los sebos; por tanto, los levitas aderezaron para sí, y para los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón.

15 A nd the singers, the sons of Asaph, were in their places, according to the command of David, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun the king’s seer. Also the gatekeepers were at each gate; they did not have to leave their position, because their brethren the Levites prepared portions for them.

Asimismo los cantores hijos de Asaf estaban en su estancia, conforme al mandamiento de David, de Asaf, de Hemán, y de Jedutún vidente del rey. Y los porteros estaban a cada puerta; y no era menester que se apartaran de su ministerio, porque sus hermanos los levitas aparejaban para ellos.

16 S o all the service of the Lord was prepared the same day, to keep the Passover and to offer burnt offerings on the altar of the Lord, according to the command of King Josiah.

Así fue aparejado todo el servicio del SEÑOR en aquel día, para hacer la pascua, y sacrificar los holocaustos sobre el altar del SEÑOR, conforme al mandamiento del rey Josías.

17 A nd the children of Israel who were present kept the Passover at that time, and the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days.

Y los hijos de Israel que se hallaron presentes, hicieron la pascua en aquel tiempo, y la fiesta solemne de los panes sin levadura, por siete días.

18 T here had been no Passover kept in Israel like that since the days of Samuel the prophet; and none of the kings of Israel had kept such a Passover as Josiah kept, with the priests and the Levites, all Judah and Israel who were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Nunca tal pascua fue hecha en Israel desde los días de Samuel el profeta; ni ningún rey de Israel hizo pascua tal como la que hizo el rey Josías, y los sacerdotes y levitas, y todo Judá e Israel, los que se hallaron presentes, juntamente con los moradores de Jerusalén.

19 I n the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah this Passover was kept. Josiah Dies in Battle

Esta pascua fue celebrada en el año dieciocho del rey Josías.

20 A fter all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Necho king of Egypt came up to fight against Carchemish by the Euphrates; and Josiah went out against him.

¶ Después de todas estas cosas, luego de haber Josías preparado la Casa, Necao rey de Egipto subió a hacer guerra en Carquemis junto al Eufrates; y salió Josías contra él.

21 B ut he sent messengers to him, saying, “What have I to do with you, king of Judah? I have not come against you this day, but against the house with which I have war; for God commanded me to make haste. Refrain from meddling with God, who is with me, lest He destroy you.”

Y él le envió embajadores, diciendo: ¿Qué tenemos yo y tú, rey de Judá? Yo no vengo contra ti hoy, sino contra la casa que me hace guerra; y Dios dijo que me apresurara. Deja de oponerte a Dios, que está conmigo, no sea que te destruya.

22 N evertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself so that he might fight with him, and did not heed the words of Necho from the mouth of God. So he came to fight in the Valley of Megiddo.

Mas Josías no volvió su rostro de él, antes se disfrazó para darle batalla, y no escuchó las palabras de Necao, que eran de boca de Dios; y vino a darle la batalla en el campo de Meguido.

23 A nd the archers shot King Josiah; and the king said to his servants, “Take me away, for I am severely wounded.”

Y los arqueros hirieron al rey Josías; y dijo el rey a sus siervos: Quitadme de aquí, porque estoy herido gravemente.

24 H is servants therefore took him out of that chariot and put him in the second chariot that he had, and they brought him to Jerusalem. So he died, and was buried in one of the tombs of his fathers. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.

Entonces sus siervos lo quitaron de aquel carro, y lo pusieron en otro segundo carro que tenía, y lo llevaron a Jerusalén, y murió; y lo sepultaron en los sepulcros de sus padres. Y todo Judá y Jerusalén hizo duelo por Josías.

25 J eremiah also lamented for Josiah. And to this day all the singing men and the singing women speak of Josiah in their lamentations. They made it a custom in Israel; and indeed they are written in the Laments.

Y endechó Jeremías por Josías, y todos los cantores y cantoras recitan sus lamentaciones sobre Josías hasta hoy; y las han vuelto en ley en Israel, las cuales están escritas en las Lamentaciones.

26 N ow the rest of the acts of Josiah and his goodness, according to what was written in the Law of the Lord,

Los demás hechos de Josías, y su misericordia, conforme a lo que está escrito en la ley del SEÑOR,

27 a nd his deeds from first to last, indeed they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.

y sus hechos, primeros y postreros, he aquí todo está escrito en el libro de los reyes de Israel y de Judá.
