1 ¶ Better is the poor that walks in his integrity than he that is perverse in his lips and is a fool.

Mejor es el pobre que anda en su integridad que el de labios perversos y necio.

2 ¶ That the soul be without wisdom is not good, and he that hastens with his feet sins.

Tampoco es bueno para una persona carecer de conocimiento, y el que se apresura con los pies peca.

3 ¶ The foolishness of man perverts his way, and his heart is wroth against the LORD.

La insensatez del hombre pervierte su camino, y su corazón se irrita contra el Señor.

4 ¶ Wealth makes many friends, but the poor is separated from his neighbour.

La riqueza añade muchos amigos, pero el pobre es separado de su amigo.

5 ¶ A false witness shall not go unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall not escape.

El testigo falso no quedará sin castigo, y el que cuenta mentiras no escapará.

6 ¶ Many will intreat the favour of the prince, but every man is a friend to him that gives.

Muchos buscan el favor del generoso, y todo hombre es amigo del que da.

7 A ll the brethren of the poor hate him; how much more shall his friends separate themselves from him? He shall seek their friendship and not find it.

Todos los hermanos del pobre lo aborrecen, ¡cuánto más sus amigos se alejarán de él!; los persigue con palabras, pero ellos se han ido.

8 ¶ He that gets wisdom loves his own soul; he keeps intelligence that he might find that which is good.

El que adquiere cordura ama su alma; el que guarda la prudencia hallará el bien.

9 ¶ The false witness shall not go unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall perish.

El testigo falso no quedará sin castigo, y el que cuenta mentiras perecerá.

10 ¶ Delight is not suitable for a fool; much less for a slave to have rule over princes.

Al necio no le sienta la vida de lujo; mucho menos a un siervo gobernar a los príncipes.

11 ¶ The discretion of a man defers his anger, and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

La discreción del hombre le hace lento para la ira, y su gloria es pasar por alto una ofensa.

12 ¶ The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion, but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

Como rugido de león es la ira del rey, y su favor como rocío sobre la hierba.

13 ¶ A foolish son is a pain unto his father, and the contentions of a wife are a continual dripping.

El hijo necio es ruina de su padre, y gotera continua las contiendas de una esposa.

14 ¶ House and riches are the inheritance from fathers, but the prudent wife is from the LORD.

Casa y riqueza son herencia de los padres, pero la mujer prudente viene del Señor.

15 ¶ Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep, and the negligent soul shall suffer hunger.

La pereza hace caer en profundo sueño, y el alma ociosa sufrirá hambre.

16 ¶ He that keeps the commandment keeps his own soul, but he that despises his ways shall die.

El que guarda el mandamiento guarda su alma, mas el que menosprecia sus caminos morirá.

17 ¶ He that gives unto the poor lends unto the LORD, and he will give him his reward.

El que se apiada del pobre presta al Señor, y El lo recompensará por su buena obra.

18 ¶ Chasten thy son while there is hope, but do not stir up thy soul to destroy him.

Corrige a tu hijo mientras hay esperanza, pero no desee tu alma causarle la muerte.

19 ¶ A man of great wrath shall suffer the consequences, for even if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.

El hombre de gran ira llevará el castigo, porque si tú lo rescatas, tendrás que hacerlo de nuevo.

20 ¶ Hear counsel, and receive chastening that thou may be wise in thy old age.

Escucha el consejo y acepta la corrección, para que seas sabio el resto de tus días.

21 ¶ There are many thoughts in the heart of man; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD shall stand.

Muchos son los planes en el corazón del hombre, mas el consejo del Señor permanecerá.

22 ¶ Contentment is unto men to show mercy, but it is better to do it unto the poor than to the liar.

Lo que es deseable en un hombre es su bondad, y es mejor ser pobre que mentiroso.

23 ¶ The fear of the LORD is unto life, and he that has it shall live satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

El temor del Señor conduce a la vida, para dormir satisfecho sin ser tocado por el mal.

24 ¶ The slothful man hides his hand in his bosom and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

El perezoso mete su mano en el plato, y ni aun a su boca la llevará.

25 ¶ Smite a scorner, and the simple will become prudent, and reproving one that has understanding, he will understand knowledge.

Golpea al escarnecedor y el ingenuo se volverá astuto, pero reprende al inteligente y ganará conocimiento.

26 ¶ He that steals from his father and chases away his mother is a son that causes shame and brings reproach.

El que asalta a su padre y echa fuera a su madre es un hijo que trae vergüenza y desgracia.

27 ¶ Cease, my son, to hear the teaching that induces one to deviate from the reasons of wisdom.

Cesa, hijo mío, de escuchar la instrucción, y te desviarás de las palabras de sabiduría.

28 ¶ A witness of Belial shall scorn judgment, and the mouth of the wicked shall cover iniquity.

El testigo perverso se burla de la justicia, y la boca de los impíos esparce iniquidad.

29 ¶ Judgments are prepared for scorners and stripes for the back of fools.

Los juicios están preparados para los escarnecedores, y los azotes para la espalda de los necios.
