1 ¶ Better is the poor that walks in his integrity than he that is perverse in his lips and is a fool.

По-добър е сиромахът, който ходи в непорочността си, Нежели оня, който е с извратени устни а при това безумен.

2 ¶ That the soul be without wisdom is not good, and he that hastens with his feet sins.

Наистина ожидане без разсъдък не е добро, И който бърза с нозете си, обърква пътя си.

3 ¶ The foolishness of man perverts his way, and his heart is wroth against the LORD.

Безумието на човека изкривява пътя му, И сърцето му негодува против Господа.

4 ¶ Wealth makes many friends, but the poor is separated from his neighbour.

Богатството притуря много приятели, А сиромахът бива оставен от приятеля си,

5 ¶ A false witness shall not go unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall not escape.

Лъжливият свидетел няма да остане ненаказан, И който издиша лъжи няма да избегне.

6 ¶ Many will intreat the favour of the prince, but every man is a friend to him that gives.

Мнозина търсят благоволението на щедрия, И всеки е приятел на онзи, който дава подаръци.

7 A ll the brethren of the poor hate him; how much more shall his friends separate themselves from him? He shall seek their friendship and not find it.

Всичките братя на сиромаха го мразят, - Колко повече отбягват от него приятелите му! - Той тича след тях с умолителни думи, но тях ги няма.

8 ¶ He that gets wisdom loves his own soul; he keeps intelligence that he might find that which is good.

Който придобива ум обича своята си душа; Който пази благоразумие ще намери добро.

9 ¶ The false witness shall not go unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall perish.

Лъжлив свидетел няма да остане ненаказан, И който издиша лъжи ще загине.

10 ¶ Delight is not suitable for a fool; much less for a slave to have rule over princes.

Изнежеността не прилича на безумен, - Много по-малко на слуга да властвува над началници.

11 ¶ The discretion of a man defers his anger, and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

Благоразумието на човека възпира гнева му, И слава е за него да се не взира в престъпление.

12 ¶ The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion, but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

Гневът на царя е като реване на лъв, А благоволението му е като роса на тревата.

13 ¶ A foolish son is a pain unto his father, and the contentions of a wife are a continual dripping.

Безумен син е бедствие за баща си, И препирните на жена са непрестанно капене.

14 ¶ House and riches are the inheritance from fathers, but the prudent wife is from the LORD.

Къща и богатство се оставят наследство от бащите, Но благоразумна жена е от Господа.

15 ¶ Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep, and the negligent soul shall suffer hunger.

Леноста хвърля в дълбок сън, И бездейна душа ще гладува

16 ¶ He that keeps the commandment keeps his own soul, but he that despises his ways shall die.

Който пази заповедта пази душата си, А който немари пътищата си ще загине.

17 ¶ He that gives unto the poor lends unto the LORD, and he will give him his reward.

Който показва милост към сиромаха заема Господу, И Той ще му въздаде за благодеянието му.

18 ¶ Chasten thy son while there is hope, but do not stir up thy soul to destroy him.

Наказвай сина си докато има надежда, И не закоравявай сърцето си да го оставиш да загине.

19 ¶ A man of great wrath shall suffer the consequences, for even if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.

Яростен човек ще понесе наказание, Защото, ако и да го избавиш, трябва пак същото да направиш.

20 ¶ Hear counsel, and receive chastening that thou may be wise in thy old age.

Слушай съвет и приемай поука, За да останеш мъдър в сетнините си.

21 ¶ There are many thoughts in the heart of man; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD shall stand.

Има много помисли в сърцето на човека, Но намерението Господно, то ще устои.

22 ¶ Contentment is unto men to show mercy, but it is better to do it unto the poor than to the liar.

Милосърдието на човека е чест нему, И сиромах човек е по-добър от този, който разорява.

23 ¶ The fear of the LORD is unto life, and he that has it shall live satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

Страхът от Господа спомага към живот; Който го има ще си ляга наситен и не ще срещне зло.

24 ¶ The slothful man hides his hand in his bosom and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

Ленивият затопява ръката си в паницата И не ще нито в устата си да я повърне.

25 ¶ Smite a scorner, and the simple will become prudent, and reproving one that has understanding, he will understand knowledge.

Ако биеш присмивателя, простият ще стане внимателен; И ако изобличиш благоразумния, той ще придобие знание.

26 ¶ He that steals from his father and chases away his mother is a son that causes shame and brings reproach.

Който опропастява баща си и пропъжда майка си, Той е син, който причинява срам и нанася позор.

27 ¶ Cease, my son, to hear the teaching that induces one to deviate from the reasons of wisdom.

Престани, сине мой, да слушаш съвети, Които те отклоняват от мъдростта.

28 ¶ A witness of Belial shall scorn judgment, and the mouth of the wicked shall cover iniquity.

Лошият свидетел се присмива на правосъдието; И устата на нечестивите поглъщат беззаконие.

29 ¶ Judgments are prepared for scorners and stripes for the back of fools.

Присъди се приготвят за присмивателите, И бой за гърба на безумните.
