1 ¶ Thus hath the Lord GOD showed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit.

Това е, което Господ Иеова ми показа: - Ето кошница с узряло (Еврейски:лятно) овощие.

2 A nd he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass over them any more.

И рече: Що виждаш Амосе? И рекох: Кошница с узряло (Еврейски: лятно) овощие. Тогава Господ ми рече: - Людете ми Израил узряха; (Еврейски: Дойде краят на людете ми Израил) Занапред няма вече да ги щадя.

3 A nd the cantors of the temple shall howl in that day, said the Lord GOD; there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence.

И в оня ден, казва Господ Иеова, Храмовите песни ще бъдат виения; Защото труповете ще бъдат много, Навсякъде ще ги изхвърлят мълчешком.

4 ¶ Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, and cut off the poor of the land,

Слушайте това, вие, които бихте поглъщали бедните, И бихте погубвали сиромасите на тая земя,

5 s aying, When the month is over, we will sell the wheat; and after the sabbath day we will open the storehouse of bread, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit;

Казвайки: Кога ще мине новолунието, за да продадем жито, И съботата, за да изложим на продан пшеница, Като смалим ефата, уголемим сикъла, И мамим с лъжливи къпони? -

6 t hat we may buy the poor for money and the needy for a pair of shoes and sell the refuse of the wheat.

За да купим сиромасите с пари, И бедният за един чифт обуща, И да продадем отсевките на пшеницата?

7 T he LORD has sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.

Господ се закле в Оня, с когото Яков се слави, като рече: Наистина няма никога да забравя кое да било от делата им.

8 S hall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwells therein? and it shall all rise up as a flood, and it shall be cast out and sunk, as the river of Egypt.

Не ще ли се поклати земята за това, И всеки, който живее на нея да жалее? Така! И тя цяла ще се издига като Нил, Ще се развълнува и спада пак като Египетската река.

9 A nd it shall come to pass in that day, said the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will cover the earth with darkness in the clear day;

В оня ден казва Господ Иеова, Ще направя да залезе слънцето на пладне, И ще помрача земята всред бял ден.

10 a nd I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentation; and I will cause sackcloth to be brought up upon all loins and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son and the end thereof as a bitter day.

Ще обърна пируванията ви в жалеене, И всичките ви песни в плач; Ще туря вретище на всички кръстове, И плешивост на всяка глава; И ще причиня жалеене като за единороден син, И скончанието му да бъде като края на горестен ден.

11 ¶ Behold, the days come, said the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine to the earth, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:

Ето, идат дни, казва Господ Иеова, Когато ще пратя глад на земята, - Не глад за хляб, нито жажда за вода, Но за слушане думите Господни.

12 a nd they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

Те ще се скитат от море до море Да търсят словото Господне, И ще обикалят от север до изток, Но няма да го намерят.

13 I n that day the fair virgins and young men shall faint for thirst.

В оня ден красивите девици И юношите ще премират от жажда.

14 T hose that swear by the guiltiness of Samaria and say, As thy God of Dan lives; and, As the way of Beersheba lives, even they shall fall, and never rise up again.

Ония, които се кълнат с престъплението на Самария, Като казват - Заклеваме се в живота на бога ти, Дане! И - Заклеваме се в живота на обичайния бог у Вирсавее! - Те ще паднат, и никога няма да станат вече.
