1 ¶ Then Eliphaz, the Temanite, answered, and said,

2 S hould a wise man utter vain knowledge and fill his belly with the east wind?

Мъдър човек с вятърничаво ли знание отговаря, И с източен вятър ли пълни корема си?

3 S hould he dispute with useless words and with reasons that are not profitable?

С празни думи ли се препира И с безполезни речи?

4 T hou dost also cast off fear and undermine prayer before God.

Наистина ти унищожаваш страха от Бога, И намаляваш моленето пред Него.

5 F or thy mouth has declared thine iniquity, and thou hast chosen the tongue of the crafty.

Защото беззаконието ти поучава устата ти, И си избрал езика на лукавите.

6 T hine own mouth shall condemn thee, and not I; thine own lips shall testify against thee.

Твоите уста те осъждат, а не аз; Твоите устни свидетелствуват против тебе.

7 W ast thou born before Adam? Or wast thou formed before the hills?

Ти ли си първородният човек? Или създаден ли си преди хълмите?

8 H ast thou heard the secret of God, that thou dost detain wisdom in thee alone?

Чул ли си ти Божиите тайни намерения? Или си заключил в себе си мъдростта?

9 W hat dost thou know that we do not? What dost thou understand, which is not in us?

Що знаеш ти, което ние не знаем? Що разбираш ти, което няма у нас?

10 A mong us are also gray hairs; there are also aged men, much elder than thy father.

Има и между нас и белокоси и престарели, По-напреднали на възраст и от баща ти.

11 A re the consolations of God in such small esteem with thee? Is there by chance any secret thing concerning thee?

Божиите утешения и меките Му към тебе думи Малко нещо ли са за тебе?

12 W hy does thine heart carry thee away, and why do thine eyes blink,

Какво те блазни сърцето ти, И на какво смигат очите ти,

13 t hat thou dost reply unto God with thy spirit and bring forth such words out of thy mouth?

Та обръщаш духа си против Бога, И изпущаш такива думи из устата си?

14 W hat is man that he should be clean and that he that is born of a woman should be justified?

Що е човек та да е чист, И роденият от жена та да е праведен?

15 B ehold, he puts no trust in his saints, and not even the heavens are clean in his sight.

Ето, на светите Си ангели Той не се доверява, И небесата не са чисти в очите Му;

16 H ow much less the man who is abominable and filthy, who drinks iniquity like water?

Колко повече е гнусен и непотребен човек, Който пие неправда, като вода!

17 ¶ Listen to me and I will show thee and declare unto thee that which I have seen,

Аз ще ти кажа, послушай ме; И това, което съм видял, ще ти изявя,

18 t hat which the wise men have told us of their fathers and have not hid it,

(Което мъдрите не скриха, но възвестиха, Както бяха чули от бащите си;

19 u nto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.

На които биде дадена земята, и само на тях, И чужденец не замина между тях;)

20 T he wicked man travails with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden from the violent.

Нечестивият се мъчи през всичките си дни; И преброени години са запазени за мъчителя.

21 F earful sounds are in his ears; in peace the destroyer shall come upon him.

Ужасни гласове има в ушите му, Че като е в спокойствие ще го нападне изтребителят;

22 H e will not believe that he shall return out of darkness, and he is always watching the sword.

Не вярва, че ще се върне от тъмнината; И той е очакван от ножа;

23 H e wanders abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? He knows that the day of darkness is prepared for him.

Скита се да търси хляб, казвайки: Где е? Знае, че денят на тъмнината е готов до ръката му;

24 T ribulation and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.

Скръб и тъга го плашат, Като цар приготвен за бой му надвиват.

25 B ecause he extended his hand against God and strengthens himself against the Almighty,

Понеже той простря ръката си против Бога, И възгордя се против Всемогъщия,

26 h e shall run him through in the neck, upon the thick shoulder pieces of his shields;

Спусна се на Него с корав врат, С дебелите изпъкналости на щитовете си.

27 f or he covered his face with his fatness and made collops of fat on his flanks;

Понеже покри лицето си с тлъстината си, И, затлъсти кръста си,

28 a nd he dwelt in desolate cities and in houses which no one inhabited, which were in heaps.

Той се засели в разорени градове, В къщи необитаеми, Готови да станат на купове.

29 H e shall not become rich, nor shall his strength be established, neither shall he extend his beauty upon the earth.

Няма да се обогати, и имотът му няма да трае, Нито ще се навеждат до земята произведенията им.

30 H e shall not escape from the darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth he shall perish.

Няма да се отърве от тъмнината; Пламък ще изсуши младоците му; И от дишането на Божиите уста ще бъде завлечен.

31 H e shall not be established; in vanity he shall err; therefore, he shall be changed into vanity.

Нека не се доверява на суетата, самоизмамен; Защото суета ще бъде заплатата му.

32 H e shall be cut off before his time, and his branch shall not be green.

Преди времето си ще се изплати, И клонът му няма да раззеленее,

33 H e shall shake off his sour grapes as the vine and shall cast off his flower as the olive.

Ще изрони неузрялото си грозде като лозата, И ще хвърли цвета си като маслината.

34 F or the congregation of the hypocrites shall be made desolate, and fire shall consume the tents of bribery.

Защото дружината на нечестивите ще запустее; И огън ще пояде шатрите на подкупничеството.

35 T hey conceive pain and bring forth iniquity, and their belly meditates deceit.

Зачват зло, и раждат беззаконие, И сърцето им подготвя измама.
