1 ¶ Thus hath the Lord GOD showed unto me, and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter hay; and, behold that the latter hay grew after the king’s reapings.

2 A nd it came to pass that when they had come to an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD, forgive, I beseech thee; who shall lift up Jacob? for he is small.

И когато скакалците изядоха тревата на земята, тогава рекох: - Господи Иеова, бъди милостив, моля ти се! Как да се издигне Яков? защото е малък.

3 T he LORD repented of this; It shall not be, said the LORD.

Господ се разкая за това: Няма да бъде, казва Господ.

4 A fterward the Lord GOD showed me this: And, behold, the Lord GOD called to judge by fire, and it devoured the great deep and ate up the inheritance.

Това е, което Господ Иеова ми показа: - Ето Господ Иеова вика на съд чрез огън; и огънят изпояде голямата бездна, и щеше да изпояде и Израилевият дял.

5 T hen said I, O Lord GOD, cease, I beseech thee; who shall raise up Jacob? for he is small.

Тогава рекох: - Господи Иеова, престани, моля ти се! Как да се издигне Яков? защото е малък.

6 T he LORD repented of this: This also shall not be, said the Lord GOD.

Господ се разкая за това: И това няма да бъде, казва Господ Иеова.

7 T hus he showed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.

Това е, което ми показа: - Ето, Господ стоеше при стена съградена с отвес, като държеше отвес в ръката си.

8 A nd the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass over them any more:

И Господ ми рече: Що виждаш, Амосе? И рекох - Отвес. Тогава рече Господ: Ето, аз ще туря отвес всред людете си Израиля; Занапред няма вече да ги щадя.

9 A nd the altars of Isaac shall be destroyed, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise upon the house of Jeroboam with the sword.

Високите Исаакови места ще запустеят, И Израилевите светилища ще се съсипят; И аз ще стана с меч против Израилевия дом.

10 ¶ Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos has conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel; the land is not able to bear all his words.

Тогава свещеникът на Ветил Амасия прати до Израилевия цар Иеровоама да кажат: Амос направи заговор против тебе всред Израилевия дом; земята не може да търпи многото му думи.

11 F or thus hath Amos said, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.

Защото Амос така казва: Иеровоам ще умре от меч, А Израил непременно ще бъде закаран пленник от земята си.

12 A nd Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and eat thy bread there, and prophesy there:

При това, Амасия, рече на Амоса: О, ти гледачо, иди, бягай в Юдовата земя, там яж хляб, и там пророкувай;

13 b ut do not prophesy any more in Bethel: for it is the king’s sanctuary, and the head of the kingdom.

а във Ветил вече да не пророкуваш пак, защото е царево светилище, и е царски дворец.

14 T hen Amos answered and said to Amaziah, I am not a prophet, neither am I a prophet’s son, but I am a herdsman and a gatherer of sycamore fruit:

Тогава Амос рече в отговор на Амасия: Не бях аз пророк, нито син на пророк, но бях говедар, и берях черници;

15 a nd the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.

а Господ ме взе отподир стадото, и Господ ми рече: Иди пророкувай на людете ми Израиля,

16 N ow therefore hear thou the word of the LORD: Thou sayest, Do not prophesy against Israel and do not drop thy word against the house of Isaac.

Сега прочее слушай Господнето слово: Ти казваш - Не пророкувай против Израиля, и да не капне от тебе дума против Исааковия дом.

17 T herefore thus hath the LORD said; Thy wife shall be a harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by lots; and thou shalt die in a polluted land; and Israel shall surely go into captivity from his land.

За това, така казва Господ: - Жена ти ще бъде блудница в града, Синовете ти и дъщерите ти ще паднат от меч, И земята ти ще се раздели с въже; А сам ти ще умреш в нечиста земя, И Израил непременно ще бъде закаран пленник от земята си.
