1 ¶ In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came unto the prophet Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, saying,

2 T he LORD has been sore displeased with your fathers.

«El Señor está muy enojado contra los padres de ustedes.

3 T herefore thou shalt say unto them, Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said; Turn unto me, said the LORD of the hosts, and I will turn unto you, said the LORD of the hosts.

Así que dile al pueblo: “Así ha dicho el Señor de los ejércitos: Vuélvanse a mí, y yo me volveré a ustedes.” —Palabra del Señor de los ejércitos.

4 D o not be as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said; Turn now from your evil ways and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, said the LORD.

»No sean como sus padres, a quienes los profetas de antaño clamaron y dijeron: “Así ha dicho el Señor de los ejércitos: Apártense ya de sus malos caminos y de sus malas obras”, pero ellos no me hicieron caso ni me escucharon. —Palabra del Señor.

5 Y our fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?

»¿Y dónde están ahora sus padres? ¿Y acaso los profetas viven todavía?

6 B ut my words and my statutes, which I commanded my slaves the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? Therefore they returned from captivity and said, Like as the LORD of the hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways and according to our doings, so has he dealt with us.

¿Y acaso las palabras y ordenanzas que di a mis siervos los profetas no alcanzaron a los padres de ustedes? Por eso ellos se volvieron a mí, y dijeron: “El Señor de los ejércitos nos ha tratado en conformidad con lo que merecen nuestros caminos y nuestras acciones.”» La visión de los caballos

7 ¶ Upon the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came unto the prophet Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, saying,

El día veinticuatro del mes undécimo, que es el mes de Sebat, del año segundo de Darío, la palabra del Señor vino al profeta Zacarías hijo de Berequías, hijo de Iddo, y dijo:

8 I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him there were red horses, speckled, and white.

«Una noche vi a un hombre cabalgando un caballo alazán. Estaba entre los mirtos que había en la hondonada, y detrás de él había caballos alazanes, overos y blancos.

9 T hen said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will show thee who these are.

Yo pregunté: “Mi señor, ¿quiénes son éstos?” Y el ángel que hablaba conmigo me dijo: “Voy a mostrarte quiénes son.”

10 A nd the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are those whom the LORD has sent to walk to and fro through the earth.

»El hombre que estaba entre los mirtos respondió y dijo: “Éstos son los que el Señor ha enviado a recorrer la tierra.”

11 A nd they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees and said, We have walked to and fro through the land, and, behold, all the earth sits still and is at rest.

Ellos, por su parte, hablaron con el ángel del Señor que estaba entre los mirtos y dijeron: “Hemos andado por toda la tierra, y ésta se halla reposada y tranquila.”

12 T hen the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of the hosts, when wilt thou have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these seventy years?

»Entonces el ángel del Señor respondió: “Señor de los ejércitos, ¿hasta cuándo vas a negarles tu compasión a Jerusalén y a las ciudades de Judá? ¡Ya has estado airado con ellas durante setenta años!”

13 A nd the LORD answered good words unto the angel that talked with me, words of consolation.

»El Señor respondió al ángel que hablaba conmigo, con palabras amables y reconfortantes.

14 S o the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of the hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.

Y el ángel que hablaba conmigo me dijo: “Levanta la voz y di: Así ha dicho el Señor de los ejércitos: Muy grande es mi amor por Jerusalén y por Sión.

15 A nd I am very sore displeased with the Gentiles that are at ease; for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.

Estoy muy airado contra las naciones que viven tranquilas porque, cuando mi enojo no era tanto, ellos lo agravaron más.”

16 T herefore thus hath the LORD said, I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies; my house shall be built in her, saith the LORD of the hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.

»Por lo tanto, así ha dicho el Señor: “Volveré a compadecerme de Jerusalén. La plomada volverá a tenderse sobre Jerusalén, y en ella será edificada mi casa.” —Palabra del Señor de los ejércitos.

17 C ry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of the hosts, My cities through abundance of good shall yet be widened; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion and shall yet choose Jerusalem.

»Levanta la voz una vez más, y di: “Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: Mis ciudades volverán a rebosar con abundancia de bienes, y yo, el Señor, volveré a consolar a Sión y a escoger a Jerusalén.”» Visión de los carpinteros y los cuernos

18 ¶ Then I lifted up my eyes and saw and behold four horns.

Después levanté la vista y vi allí cuatro cuernos.

19 A nd I said unto the angel that talked with me, What are these? And he answered me, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.

Le pregunté al ángel que hablaba conmigo: «¿Y éstos qué son?» Y el ángel me respondió: «Éstos son los cuernos que dispersaron a Judá, Israel y Jerusalén.»

20 A nd the LORD showed me four carpenters.

Luego el Señor me mostró cuatro carpinteros,

21 T hen I said, What do these come to do? And he spoke, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no one lifted up his head, but these are come to cause them to tremble, to cut down the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.

y yo pregunté: «¿Y éstos qué vienen a hacer?» Y el ángel me respondió: «Aquellos cuernos son los que dispersaron a Judá, al grado de que ninguno de ellos volvió a levantar la cabeza; pero éstos han venido para hacerlos temblar y derribar los cuernos de las naciones que se levantaron contra la tierra de Judá y dispersaron a sus habitantes.»
