7 S allu, Amok, Hilkiah, and Jedaiah. These were the princes of the priests and of their brethren in the days of Jeshua.

8 A nd the Levites: Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, who with his brethren officiated in the songs of praise.

9 A lso Bakbukiah and Unni, their brethren, were before them in the watches.

10 A nd Jeshua begat Joiakim, Joiakim begat Eliashib, and Eliashib begat Joiada,

11 J oiada begat Jonathan, and Jonathan begat Jaddua.

12 A nd in the days of Joiakim the priests, the heads of the families were of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah;

22 T he Levites in the days of Eliashib, of Joiada and of Johanan and of Jaddua, were recorded as heads of families; also the priests, until the reign of Darius, the Persian.

En los días de Eliasib, Joyadá, Johanán y Jadúa, los levitas fueron inscritos por jefes de familias, lo mismo que los sacerdotes, hasta el reinado de Darío el persa.

23 T he sons of Levi, heads of families, were written in the book of the chronicles, until the days of Johanan the son of Eliashib.

Los descendientes de Leví que eran jefes de familia fueron inscritos en el libro de las crónicas hasta los días de Johanán hijo de Eliasib.

24 T he heads of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, Jeshua, the son of Kadmiel, and their brethren before them, to praise and to give thanks, according to the statute of David, the man of God, keeping each one their ward.

Los jefes de los levitas fueron Jasabías, Serebías, Josué hijo de Cadmiel, y sus hermanos, que estaban al frente de ellos para alabar y dar gracias al Señor, de acuerdo con los estatutos de David, varón de Dios, y según su turno.

25 M attaniah, Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, and Akkub were porters keeping the ward at the thresholds of the gates.

Los guardias Matanías, Bacbuquías, Abdías, Mesulán, Talmón y Acub vigilaban las entradas.

26 T hese were in the days of Joiakim, the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the captain, and of Ezra, the priest and scribe.

27 ¶ And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgiving and with singing, with cymbals, psalteries, and with harps.

«Para la consagración de la muralla de Jerusalén fueron convocados a Jerusalén los levitas de todos los lugares, a fin de celebrar la dedicación con una gran fiesta de alabanzas y cánticos al son de címbalos, salterios y cítaras.

28 A nd the sons of the singers were gathered together, both out of the plain country round about Jerusalem and from the villages of Netophathi;

Se llamó a los cantores profesionales que vivían cerca de Jerusalén y en las aldeas de los netofatitas,

29 a lso from the house of Gilgal and out of the fields of Geba and Azmaveth; for the singers had built themselves villages round about Jerusalem.

30 A nd the priests and the Levites purified themselves and purified the people and the gates and the wall.

Los sacerdotes y los levitas se purificaron, lo mismo que el pueblo, las puertas y la muralla.

31 T hen I brought up the princes of Judah upon the wall and appointed two great choirs which went in procession, one went on the right hand upon the wall toward the dung gate.

A los jefes de Judá les pedí subir a la muralla, e hice desfilar en procesión dos grande coros, uno a la derecha y otro a la izquierda. El que iba a la derecha caminaba sobre la muralla, en dirección a la puerta del Basurero.

32 A nd after them went Hoshaiah and half of the princes of Judah,

Tras el coro iban Osaías, la mitad de los jefes de Judá,

33 a nd Azariah, Ezra, Meshullam,

Azarías, Esdras, Mesulán,

34 J udah, Benjamin, Shemaiah, and Jeremiah;

Judá, Benjamín, Semaías y Jeremías.

35 a nd certain of the priests’ sons with trumpets: namely, Zechariah, the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Michaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph;

Los sacerdotes iban tocando las trompetas, y entre ellos iba Zacarías, descendiente en línea directa de Jonatán, Semaías, Matanías, Micaías, Zacur y Asaf,

36 a nd his brethren, Shemaiah, Azarael, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethaneel, Judah, and Hanani, with the musical instruments of David, the man of God, and Ezra, the scribe, before them.

y sus hermanos Semaías, Azarael, Milalay, Guilalay, May, Natanael, Judá y Jananí, quienes llevaban los instrumentos musicales que habían pertenecido a David, el varón de Dios. El escriba Esdras avanzaba al frente de ellos.

37 A nd at the fountain gate, which was over against them, they went up by the stairs of the city of David, at the going up of the wall, from the house of David unto the water gate eastward.

Los sacerdotes subieron por los escalones que están frente a la Puerta de la Fuente, que conduce a la ciudad de David; usaron la subida de la muralla y pasaron cerca del palacio de David, hasta la parte oriental de la Puerta de las Aguas.

38 A nd the second choir went over against them, and I after them with half of the people upon the wall, from the tower of the furnaces even unto the broad wall,

»Yo iba detrás del segundo coro, el que desfilaba a la izquierda, junto con la mitad del pueblo que caminaba sobre la muralla, desde la torre de los Hornos hasta la muralla ancha.

39 a nd from the gate of Ephraim, to the old gate, and to the fish gate, to the tower of Hananeel, and the tower of Meah, unto the sheep gate; and they stood still in the gate of the guards.

Caminamos desde la Puerta de Efraín hasta la Puerta Vieja, seguimos a la Puerta del Pescado, la torre de Jananel, la torre de Hamea y la Puerta de las Ovejas, y nos detuvimos en la Puerta de la Cárcel.

40 T hen the two choirs stood in the house of God, and I and half of the rulers with me;

Entonces los dos coros, la mitad de los oficiales del templo y yo, nos reunimos en la casa de Dios.

41 a nd the priests: Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Michaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with trumpets;

»Los sacerdotes Eliaquín, Maseías, Miniamín, Micaías, Elioguenay, Zacarías y Jananías, tocaban sus trompetas,

42 a nd Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malchijah, Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sang loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer.

lo mismo que Maseías, Semaías, Eleazar, Uzi, Johanán, Malquías, Elam y Ezer. Israías era el director de los cantores, los cuales alababan a Dios a voz en cuello.

43 A lso that day they offered great sacrifices and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy; the women also and the children rejoiced, so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even afar off.

Ese día se ofrecieron numerosos sacrificios de animales. El pueblo entero, hombres, mujeres y niños, rebosaba de alegría porque Dios los había alegrado en gran manera. Era tal el alborozo que había en Jerusalén, que se escuchaba desde lejos.» Porciones para sacerdotes y levitas

44 ¶ And at that time men were appointed over the chambers of the treasures, of the offerings, of the firstfruits, and of the tithes, to gather into them out of the fields of the cities the legal portions for the priests and the Levites; for the joy of Judah was upon the priests and the Levites that served.

Aquel día varios hombres fueron elegidos para encargarse de los almacenes del templo, de las ofrendas, las primicias y los diezmos, y para que, de lo que llegaba de las diferentes ciudades, recogieran las porciones que les correspondían a los sacerdotes y los levitas. Y es que el pueblo de Judá estaba feliz por los sacerdotes y levitas que servían en el templo,

45 A nd they kept the ward of their God and the ward of the purification, and the singers and the porters, according to the statute of David and of Solomon, his son.

pues habían servido al Señor y habían intercedido por los pecados del pueblo, lo mismo que los cantores y los porteros, conforme a lo establecido por el rey David y su hijo Salomón.

46 F or from the time of David and Asaph of old there were princes of the singers, and songs and praise and thanksgiving unto God.

Desde tiempos inmemoriales, y desde el reinado de David y los días de Asaf, había habido un director de los cantores que organizaba las alabanzas y las acciones de gracias al Señor.

47 A nd all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel and in the days of Nehemiah, gave the portions of the singers and the porters, each thing in its day; and they sanctified them unto the Levites; and the Levites sanctified them unto the sons of Aaron.

Y tanto en la época de Zorobabel como en la de Nehemías, el pueblo se preocupaba por alimentar a los cantores y a los porteros, según los días que estaban de servicio; apartaban las porciones que les correspondían a los levitas, y ellos apartaban lo que les correspondía a los sacerdotes.
