1 ¶ Of man are the preparations of the heart, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.

Del corazón del hombre surgen los planes, pero del Señor proviene la respuesta de la lengua.

2 ¶ All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the spirits.

Según el hombre, todo camino es limpio, pero el Señor pondera los espíritus.

3 ¶ Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

Encomienda al Señor tus acciones, y tus pensamientos serán afirmados.

4 ¶ The LORD has made all things by himself, yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

El Señor lo ha hecho todo para sí mismo; ¡hasta el impío está hecho para el día fatal!

5 ¶ Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; the covenant that he makes, shall not be without chastening.

El Señor aborrece a los de corazón altivo, y es un hecho que no quedarán impunes.

6 ¶ By mercy and truth iniquity is purged, and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

El amor verdadero perdona el pecado; el temor del Señor aparta del mal a los hombres.

7 ¶ When a man’s ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Si el Señor aprueba los caminos del hombre, hasta sus enemigos hacen la paz con él.

8 ¶ Better is a little with righteousness than a great number of fruits with injustice.

Es mejor lo poco del justo que los muchos frutos del injusto.

9 ¶ The heart of man devises his way, but the LORD directs his steps.

El corazón del hombre pondera su camino, pero el Señor le corrige el rumbo.

10 ¶ A divine sentence is in the lips of the king; his mouth does not transgress in judgment.

El rey tiene el veredicto en sus labios; no hay error cuando emite la sentencia.

11 ¶ A just weight and balance are the LORD’s; all the weights of the bag are his work.

Las pesas y medidas justas son del Señor; todas las balanzas son su propia creación.

12 ¶ It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness, for the throne is to be established with righteousness.

Es repugnante que los reyes cometan el mal, porque el trono se afirma en la justicia.

13 ¶ Righteous lips are the delight of kings, and they love him that speaks that which is right.

Es grato que los reyes hablen con justicia, y que amen a los que dicen la verdad.

14 ¶ The wrath of the king is as a messenger of death, but the wise man will avoid it.

La ira del rey es heraldo de muerte, pero el que es sabio sabe evitarla.

15 I n the light of the king’s countenance is life, and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.

El rostro alegre del rey es presagio de vida; su favor es una nube cargada de lluvia.

16 ¶ How much better is it to acquire wisdom than gold! and to acquire understanding is worth more than silver!

Ganar sabiduría e inteligencia es mejor que adquirir oro y plata.

17 ¶ The highway of the upright is to separate himself from evil; he that keeps his way preserves his soul.

Los hombres rectos se apartan del mal camino; quien cuida sus pasos, cuida su vida.

18 ¶ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

La soberbia precede al fracaso; la arrogancia anticipa la caída.

19 ¶ It is better to humble your spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the proud.

Es mejor ser humilde entre los humildes que compartir despojos con los soberbios.

20 ¶ He who has understanding in the word shall find good, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.

El que atiende a la palabra, halla el bien; ¡dichoso aquél que confía en el Señor!

21 ¶ The wise in heart is called a man of understanding; and the sweetness of the lips shall increase doctrine.

Al de corazón sabio se le llama prudente; los labios amables aumentan el saber.

22 ¶ Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that has it, but the instruction of fools is folly.

Tener cordura es tener la fuente de la vida; a los necios los castiga su propia necedad.

23 ¶ The heart of the wise causes his mouth to be prudent, and with his lips he shall increase doctrine.

El sabio de corazón habla con prudencia, y a sus labios añade sabiduría.

24 ¶ Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and medicine to the bones.

Las palabras amables son un panal de miel; endulzan el alma y sanan el cuerpo.

25 ¶ There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Hay caminos que el hombre considera buenos, pero que al final resultan caminos de muerte.

26 ¶ The soul of him that labours, labours for himself; for his mouth craves it of him.

El trabajador se afana para calmar su apetito; su estímulo es llenarse la boca.

27 ¶ The man of Belial digs in search of evil, and in his lips there is as a burning fire.

El que es perverso escarba en el mal; hay en sus labios una llama de fuego.

28 T he perverse man sows strife, and the tale bearer separates princes.

El que es perverso provoca contiendas; el chismoso aparta a los mejores amigos.

29 ¶ The evil man flatters his neighbour and leads him into the way that is not good.

El que es violento adula a su prójimo y lo hace andar por el mal camino;

30 H e shuts his eyes to devise perverse things; moving his lips he brings evil to pass.

cierra los ojos y hace planes malvados, mueve los labios y consuma el mal.

31 ¶ Old age is a crown of glory if it is found in the way of righteousness.

La vejez es la corona de una vida honrada, y se la halla en el camino de la justicia.

32 ¶ He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city.

Ser paciente es mejor que ser valiente; es mejor dominarse uno mismo que tomar una ciudad.

33 ¶ The lot is cast into the lap, but the judgment thereof is of the LORD.

Las suertes se echan en el regazo; pero el resultado depende del Señor.
