1 ¶ Of man are the preparations of the heart, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.

Prirjet e zemrës i përkasin njeriut, por përgjigja e gjuhës vjen nga Zoti.

2 ¶ All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the spirits.

Të gjitha rrugët e njeriut janë të pastra në sytë e tij, por Zoti i peshon frymët.

3 ¶ Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

Besoja Zotit veprimet e tua dhe planet e tua do të realizohen.

4 ¶ The LORD has made all things by himself, yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

Zoti ka bërë çdo gjë për vete të tij, edhe të pabesin për ditën e fatkeqësisë.

5 ¶ Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; the covenant that he makes, shall not be without chastening.

Ai që është zemërkrenar është i neveritshëm për Zotin; edhe sikur t’i shtrëngojë dorën një tjetri për besëlidhje, nuk ka për të mbetur pa u ndëshkuar.

6 ¶ By mercy and truth iniquity is purged, and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

Me mirësinë dhe me të vërtetën padrejtësia shlyhet, dhe me frikën e Zotit njeriu largohet nga e keqja.

7 ¶ When a man’s ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Kur Zotit i pëlqejnë rrugët e një njeriu, ai bën që edhe armiqtë e tij të bëjnë paqe me të.

8 ¶ Better is a little with righteousness than a great number of fruits with injustice.

Më mirë të kesh pak me drejtësi, se sa të ardhura të mëdha pa drejtësi.

9 ¶ The heart of man devises his way, but the LORD directs his steps.

Zemra e njeriut programon rrugën e tij, por Zoti drejton hapat e tij.

10 ¶ A divine sentence is in the lips of the king; his mouth does not transgress in judgment.

Mbi buzët e mbretit është një vendim hyjnor; gjatë gjykimit goja e tij nuk duhet të gabojë.

11 ¶ A just weight and balance are the LORD’s; all the weights of the bag are his work.

Kandari dhe peshoret e sakta janë të Zotit, të gjitha gurët e peshës janë vepër e tij.

12 ¶ It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness, for the throne is to be established with righteousness.

Éshtë një gjë e neveritshme për mbretërit të bëjnë të keqen, sepse froni bëhet i qëndrueshëm me drejtësinë.

13 ¶ Righteous lips are the delight of kings, and they love him that speaks that which is right.

Buzët e drejta u pëlqejnë mbretërve; ata e duan atë që flet drejt.

14 ¶ The wrath of the king is as a messenger of death, but the wise man will avoid it.

Zemërimi i mbretit është si lajmëtari i vdekjes, por njeriu i urtë do ta qetësojë atë.

15 I n the light of the king’s countenance is life, and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.

Në dritën e fytyrës së mbretit ka jetë, dhe favori i tij është si reja e shiut të fundit.

16 ¶ How much better is it to acquire wisdom than gold! and to acquire understanding is worth more than silver!

Éshtë më mirë të fitosh dituri se sa ar, dhe të fitosh mënçuri se sa argjend.

17 ¶ The highway of the upright is to separate himself from evil; he that keeps his way preserves his soul.

Rruga kryesore e njerëzve të drejtë është të evitojnë të keqen; ai që do ta ruajë shpirtin e tij mbikqyr rrugën e tij.

18 ¶ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Përpara shkatërrimit vjen kryelartësia dhe përpara rrëzimit fryma krenare.

19 ¶ It is better to humble your spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the proud.

Më mirë të kesh frymë të përulur me të mjerët se sa të ndash prenë me krenarët.

20 ¶ He who has understanding in the word shall find good, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.

Kush i kushton kujdes Fjalës do të gjejë të mirën, dhe kush i beson Zotit është i lumtur.

21 ¶ The wise in heart is called a man of understanding; and the sweetness of the lips shall increase doctrine.

I urti nga zemra do të quhet i matur, dhe ëmbëlsia e buzëve e shton diturinë.

22 ¶ Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that has it, but the instruction of fools is folly.

Mendja është një burim jete për atë që e zotëron, por budallallëku është dënimi i budallenjve.

23 ¶ The heart of the wise causes his mouth to be prudent, and with his lips he shall increase doctrine.

Zemra e të urtit e bën të mençur gojën e tij dhe e shton diturinë e buzëve të tij.

24 ¶ Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and medicine to the bones.

Fjalët e ëmbla janë si një huall mjalti, ëmbëlsi për shpirtin dhe ilaç për kockat.

25 ¶ There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Ka një rrugë që njeriut i duket e drejtë, por në fund ajo të nxjerr në udhët e vdekjes.

26 ¶ The soul of him that labours, labours for himself; for his mouth craves it of him.

Personi që lodhet, lodhet për veten e tij, sepse goja e tij e nxit.

27 ¶ The man of Belial digs in search of evil, and in his lips there is as a burning fire.

Njeriu i keq kurdis të keqen dhe mbi buzët e tij ka si një zjarr të ndezur.

28 T he perverse man sows strife, and the tale bearer separates princes.

Njeriu i çoroditur mbjell grindje dhe ai që shpif përçan miqtë më të mirë.

29 ¶ The evil man flatters his neighbour and leads him into the way that is not good.

Njeriu i dhunës e josh shokun e vet dhe e çon nëpër një rrugë jo të mirë.

30 H e shuts his eyes to devise perverse things; moving his lips he brings evil to pass.

Kush mbyll sytë për të kurdisur gjëra të këqija, kafshon buzët kur shkakton të keqen.

31 ¶ Old age is a crown of glory if it is found in the way of righteousness.

Flokët e bardha janë një kurorë lavdie; atë e gjejmë në rrugën e drejtësisë.

32 ¶ He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city.

Kush nuk zemërohet shpejt vlen më tepër se një luftëtar i fortë, dhe ai që e urdhëron frymën e tij vlen më tepër se ai që mposht një qytet.

33 ¶ The lot is cast into the lap, but the judgment thereof is of the LORD.

Shorti hidhet që në barkun e nënës, por çdo veprim varet nga Zoti.
