1 ¶ For every high priest is taken from among men, constituted on behalf of men in things relating to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins,

Sepse çdo kryeprift, që merret prej njerëzve, vihet kryeprift mbi njerëzit për gjërat që kanë të bëjnë me Perëndinë, për të ofruar dhurata dhe flijime për mëkatet;

2 w ho can have compassion on the ignorant and on those that are in error; for he himself is also compassed with weakness.

kështu ai mund të ketë dhembshuri për ata që janë të paditur dhe të gënjyer, sepse edhe ai është i veshur me dobësi,

3 A nd by reason of this he ought, as for the people so also for himself, to offer for sins.

dhe për këtë arsye është i detyruar të ofrojë flijime për fajet, si për popullin ashtu edhe për veten e tij.

4 A nd no one takes this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.

Dhe askush nuk e merr këtë nder prej vetes së tij, po ai që thirret nga Perëndia, sikurse Aaroni.

5 S o also the Christ did not glorify himself to make himself high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son; today have I begotten thee.

Kështu edhe Krishti nuk e përvetësoi ai vetë lavdinë që të bëhet kryeprift, por ia dha Ai që i tha: “Ti je im Bir, sot ti më linde,”

6 A s he said also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

dhe ashtu si thuhet diku gjetiu: “Ti je prift përjetë, sipas rendit të Melkisedekut.”

7 W ho in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, was heard because of his reverent fear;

I cili, në ditët e mishit të tij, me klithma të larta dhe me lot, i ofroi lutje dhe urata atij që mund ta shpëtonte nga vdekja, dhe u dëgjua për shkak të frikës së tij nga Perëndia.

8 a lthough he was the Son of God, yet he learned obedience by the things which he suffered;

Edhe pse ishte Bir, mësoi të jetë i bindur nga ato që pësoi,

9 a nd being made perfect, he became the author of eternal saving health unto all those that hearken unto him,

dhe, si u bë i përkryer, u bë vepronjësi i shpëtimit të amshuar për të gjithë ata që që i binden,

10 ¶ named by God high priest after the order of Melchisedec.

duke qenë i shpallur kryeprift nga Perëndiaa sipas rendit të Melkisedekut,

11 O f whom we have many things to say and difficult to declare, seeing ye are hard of hearing.

për të cilin kemi shumë gjëra për të thënë, por të vështira për t’u shpjeguar, sepse ju jeni rënduar nga veshët për të dëgjuar.

12 F or you should now be teaching others, if we look at the time, yet you need to be taught again which are the first elements of the oracles of God and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong food.

Sepse, ndonëse tashmë duhet të ishit mësues, keni përsëri nevojë që t’ju mësojnë njohuritë e para të orakujve të Perëndisë, dhe keni nevojë për qumësht, dhe jo për ushqime të forta.

13 F or any one that uses milk is not qualified in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.

Sepse kushdo që ushqehet me qumësht nuk ka përvojën e fjalës së drejtësisë, sepse është foshnjë;

14 B ut strong food belongs to those that are perfect, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

kurse ushqimi i fortë është për të rriturit, të cilët, nga përvoja, i kanë të zhvilluara vetitë për të dalluar të mirën dhe të keqen.
