1 ¶ Whosoever goes astray seeks according to his own lust and shall meddle with every doctrine.

Kush veçohet kërkon kënaqësinë e tij dhe zemërohet kundër gjithë diturisë së vërtetë.

2 ¶ A fool has no delight in understanding, but in that which his own heart discovers.

Budallai nuk gjen kënaqësi te maturia, por vetëm në të vënit në dukje të zemrës së tij.

3 ¶ When the wicked comes, then comes also contempt, and with him who dishonours, reproach.

Kur vjen i pabesi vjen edhe përçmimi dhe bashkë me humbjen e nderit vjen turpi.

4 ¶ The words of a man’s mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.

Fjalët e gojës së një njeriu janë ujëra të thella; burimi i diturisë është si një rrjedhë uji që shkon duke gurgulluar.

5 ¶ To respect the person of the wicked so that the righteous loses that which is rightfully his is not good.

Nuk është mirë të preferosh të pabesin, apo të shkaktosh humbjen e të drejtit në gjyq.

6 ¶ A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for strokes.

Buzët e budallait të çojnë në grindje, dhe goja e tij kërkon goditje.

7 A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

Goja e budallait është shkatërrimi i tij dhe buzët e tij janë një lak për jetën e tij.

8 ¶ The words of a talebearer seem smooth, but they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

Fjalët e shpifësit janë si një gjellë shumë e shijshme që zbret thellë në zorrë.

9 ¶ He also that is negligent in his work is brother to him that is the great spendthrift.

Edhe ai që është përtac në punën e tij është vëlla i planprishësit.

10 ¶ The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous shall run into it, and be raised up.

Emri i Zotit është një kala e fortë, tek ai turret i drejti dhe gjen siguri.

11 ¶ The rich man’s wealth is his strong city and as a high wall in his imagination.

Pasuria e kamësit është qyteti i tij i fortë dhe simbas mendimit të tij ajo është si një mur i lartë.

12 ¶ Before being broken, the heart of man is haughty, and before coming into honour, comes being brought to humility.

Përpara shkatërrimit, zemra e njeriut ngrihet, por para lavdisë vjen përulësia.

13 ¶ For him that answers a word before he hears, it is folly and reproach unto him.

Kush jep përgjigje për një çështje para se ta ketë dëgjuar, tregon marrëzinë e tij për turp të vet.

14 ¶ The spirit of man will bear his infirmity, but a broken spirit who can bear?

Fryma e njeriut i jep krahë në sëmundjen e tij, por kush mund ta ngrerë një frymë të demoralizuar?

15 ¶ The heart of the man of understanding acquires wisdom, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

Zemra e njeriut të matur fiton dituri, edhe veshi i të urtëve kërkon diturinë.

16 ¶ A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men.

Dhurata e njeriut i hap rrugën dhe e çon në prani të të mëdhenjve.

17 ¶ The one who is just is first in his cause, his adversary comes and seeks him out.

I pari që mbron çështjen e vet duket sikur ka të drejtë; por pastaj vjen tjetri dhe e shqyrton.

18 ¶ The lot causes contentions to cease and decides between the mighty.

Fati u jep fund grindjeve dhe i ndan të fuqishmit.

19 ¶ A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city, and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.

Një vëlla i fyer është si një qytet i fortë; dhe grindjet janë si shulat e një kalaje.

20 ¶ A man’s belly shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth, and with the product of his lips shall he be filled.

Njeriu e ngop barkun me frytin e gojës së tij, ai ngopet me prodhimin e buzëve të tij.

21 ¶ Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those that love it shall eat its fruit.

Vdekja dhe jeta janë nën pushtetin e gjuhës; ata që e duan do të hanë frytet e saj.

22 ¶ Whosoever found a wife found a good thing and has attained the favour of the LORD.

Kush ka gjetur grua ka gjetur një gjë të mirë dhe ka siguruar një favor nga Zoti.

23 ¶ The poor uses intreaties, but the rich answer roughly.

I varfëri flet duke u lutur, kurse i pasuri përgjigjet me ashpërsi.

24 ¶ The man that has friends must show himself to be a friend, and there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.

Njeriu që ka shumë miq duhet gjithashtu të tregohet mik, por është një mik që është më i lidhur se një vëlla.
