1 ¶ And when Rehoboam came to Jerusalem, he gathered of the house of Judah and Benjamin one hundred and eighty thousand chosen men, who were warriors, to fight against Israel, that he might bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.

Roboami, me të arritur në Jeruzalem, thirri shtëpinë e Judës dhe të Beniaminit, njëqind e tetëdhjetë mijë luftëtarë të zgjedhur, për të luftuar kundër Izraelit dhe për t’i kthyer kështu mbretërinë Roboamit.

2 B ut the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, the man of God, saying,

Por fjala e Zotit iu drejtua kështu Shemajahut, njeriu i Perëndisë, duke thënë:

3 S peak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,

"Foli Roboamit, birit të Salomonit, mbretit të Judës, dhe tërë Izraelit në Judë dhe në Beniamin, dhe u thuaj atyre:

4 T hus hath the LORD said, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren; return each man to his house; for this thing is done of me. And they heard the word of the LORD and returned and did not go against Jeroboam.

Kështu flet Zoti: "Mos dilni të luftoni kundër vëllezërve tuaj. Secili të kthehet në shtëpinë e vet, sepse kjo gjë vjen nga unë"". Atëherë ata iu bindën fjalës të Zotit dhe u kthyen prapa pa dalë kundër Jeroboamit.

5 A nd Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem and built cities for defence in Judah.

Roboami banoi në Jeruzalem dhe ndërtoi disa qytete për mbrojtje në Judë.

6 H e built Bethlehem and Etam and Tekoa

Ai ndërtoi Betlemin, Etamin, Tekoan,

7 a nd Bethzur and Shoco and Adullam

Beth-Tsurin, Sokon, Adulamin,

8 a nd Gath and Mareshah and Ziph

Gathin, Mareshahun, Zifin,

9 a nd Adoraim and Lachish and Azekah

Adoraimin, Lakishin, Azkahun,

10 a nd Zorah and Aijalon and Hebron which are in Judah and in Benjamin, fenced cities.

Tsorahun, Ajalonin dhe Hebronin, që u bënë qytete të fortifikuara në Judë dhe në Beniamin.

11 A nd he fortified the strong holds, and put captains in them and provisions and wine and oil;

Përforcoi fortesat dhe vendosi komandantë dhe depo ushqimesh, vaji dhe vere.

12 a nd in all the cities he put shields and spears. He fortified them greatly, having Judah and Benjamin on his side.

Në çdo qytet vendosi mburoja dhe shtiza dhe i bëri jashtëzakonisht të forta. Kështu ai pati me vete Judën dhe Beniaminin.

13 ¶ And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel gathered unto him out of all their borders.

Përveç kësaj nga të gjitha territoret e tyre priftërinjtë dhe Levitët e tërë Izraelit morën anën e tij.

14 F or the Levites left their suburbs and their possessions and came to Judah and Jerusalem, for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest’s office unto the LORD.

Në të vërtetë Levitët braktisën tokat e tyre për kullotë dhe pronat e tyre dhe shkuan në Judë dhe në Jeruzalem, sepse Jeroboami me bijtë e tij i kishte përzënë nga shërbimi si priftërinj të Zotit,

15 A nd he ordained himself priests for the high places and for the demons and for the calves which he had made.

dhe kishte caktuar priftërinj për vendet e larta, për demonët dhe për viçat që kishte bërë.

16 A nd from after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem to sacrifice unto the LORD God of their fathers.

Mbas Levitëve ata nga gjithë fiset e Izraelit që kishin vendosur në zemër të tyre të kërkonin Zotin, Perëndinë e Izraelit, vajtën në Jeruzalem për t’i ofruar flijime Zotit, Perëndisë të etërve të tyre.

17 S o they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and made Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, strong for three years because they walked three years in the way of David and of Solomon.

Kështu e përforcuan mbretërinë e Judës dhe e bënë të qëndrushëm për tre vjet Roboamin, birin e Salomonit, sepse për tre vjet ndoqën rrugën e Davidit dhe të Salomonit.

18 A nd Rehoboam took Mahalath, the daughter of Jerimoth, the son of David, to wife, and Abihail, the daughter of Eliab, the son of Jesse;

Roboami mori për grua Mahalathën, bijën e Jerimothit, birit të Davidit dhe i Abihajlit, bijës së Eliabit që ishte bir i Isait.

19 w ho bore him sons: Jeush and Shamariah and Zaham.

Ajo i lindi fëmijët Jeush, Shemariah dhe Zaaham.

20 A nd after her he took Maachah, the daughter of Absalom, who bore him Abijah and Attai and Ziza and Shelomith.

Mbas asaj mori për grua Maakahën, bijën e Absalomit, e cila i lindi Abijahun, Atain, Zizan dhe Shelomithin.

21 B ut Rehoboam loved Maachah, the daughter of Absalom, above all his wives and his concubines (for he took eighteen wives and sixty concubines and begat twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.)

Roboami e donte Maakahën, bijën e Absalomit, më tepër se të gjitha bashkëshortet e konkubinat e tij (ai mori tetëmbëdhjetë bashkëshorte dhe shtatëdhjetë konkubina dhe i lindën njëzet e tetë djem dhe gjashtëdhjetë vajza).

22 A nd Rehoboam made Abijah, the son of Maachah, as head and prince among his brethren, for he thought to make him king.

Roboami e caktoi Abijahun, birin e Maakahës, si të parë që të ishte princ midis vëllezërve të tij, sepse mendonte ta bënte mbret.

23 A nd he caused him to be instructed and dispersed of all his sons throughout all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, unto every fenced city; and he gave them provisions in abundance. And he desired many wives.

Ai veproi me zgjuarsi dhe i shpërndau disa nga bijtë e tij në të gjitha vendet e Judës dhe të Beniaminit, në të gjitha qytetet e fortifikuara; u dha atyre ushqime me shumicë dhe kërkoi për ta shumë bashkëshorte.
