1 ¶ A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son is sadness unto his mother.

2 ¶ Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.

Thesaret e padrejtësisë nuk japin dobi, por drejtësia të çliron nga vdekja.

3 T he LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish, but wickedness shall cast out the wicked.

Zoti nuk do të lejojë që i drejti të vuajë nga uria, por hedh poshtë dëshirën e të pabesëve.

4 ¶ He that deals with a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.

Kush punon me dorë përtace varfërohet, por dora e njerëzve të zellshëm të bën të pasurohesh.

5 ¶ He that gathers in summer is a wise son, but he that sleeps in harvest is a son that causes shame.

Ai që mbledh gjatë verës është një bir i matur, por ai që fle në kohën e korrjeve është një bir që të mbulon me turp.

6 ¶ Blessings are upon the head of the just, but the mouth of the wicked covers violence.

Ka bekime mbi kokën e të drejtit, por dhuna e mbulon gojën e të pabesëve.

7 ¶ The memory of the just is blessed, but the name of the wicked shall stink.

Kujtimi i të drejtit është në bekim, por emri i të pabesit do të kalbet.

8 ¶ The wise in heart will receive the commandments, but he who speaks foolishness shall fall.

Zemërurti i pranon urdhërimet, por fjalamani budalla do të rrëzohet.

9 ¶ He that walks in integrity walks securely, but he that perverts his ways shall be broken.

Ai që ecën në ndershmëri ecën i sigurt, por ai që ndjek rrugë dredharake ka për t’u zbuluar.

10 ¶ He that winks with the eye causes sorrow, and he that speaks foolishness shall fall.

Kush e shkel syrin shkakton vuajtje, por fjalamani budalla do të rrëzohet.

11 ¶ The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life, but the mouth of the wicked covers violence.

Goja e të drejtit është një burim jete, por dhuna e mbulon gojën e të pabesëve.

12 ¶ Hatred stirs up strifes, but love covers all sins.

Urrejtja shkakton grindje, por dashuria mbulon të gjitha fajet.

13 ¶ In the lips of the prudent wisdom is found and is a rod unto the back of him that is void of understanding.

Dituria gjendet mbi buzët e atyre që kanë mendje, por shkopi është për kurrizin e atyre që nuk kanë mend.

14 ¶ Wise men keep knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near unto calamity.

Të urtët grumbullojnë njohuri, por goja e budallait është një shkatërrim i shpejtë.

15 ¶ The rich man’s wealth is his strong city; the weakness of the poor is their poverty.

Begatia e të pasurit është qyteti i tij i fortë; shkatërrimi i të varfërit është varfëria e tyre.

16 ¶ The work of the righteous is unto life, but the fruit of the wicked is for sin.

Puna e të drejtit i shërben jetës, fitimi i të pabesit mëkatit.

17 ¶ He is in the way of life that gives heed to chastening, but he that refuses reproof errs.

Kush ruan mësimet është në rrugën e jetës; por kush nuk pranon kritikën humb.

18 ¶ He that hides hatred has lying lips, and he that utters a slander, is a fool.

Kush e maskon urrejtjen ka buzë gënjeshtare dhe ai që përhap shpifje është budalla.

19 ¶ In the multitude of words there is no lack of rebellion, but he that refrains his lips is wise.

Në fjalët e shumta faji nuk mungon, por ai që i frenon buzët e tij është i urtë.

20 ¶ The tongue of the just is as choice silver, but the understanding of the wicked is worth little.

Gjuha e të drejtit është argjend i zgjedhur, por zemra e të pabesëve vlen pak.

21 T he lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of wisdom.

Buzët e të drejtit ushqejnë mjaft njerëz, por budallenjtë vdesin sepse nuk kanë mend.

22 ¶ The blessing of the LORD is that which makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.

Bekimi i Zotit pasuron dhe ai nuk shton asnjë vuajtje.

23 ¶ To make an abomination is as sport to the fool, but wisdom is recreation to the man of intelligence.

Kryerja e një kobi për budallanë është si një zbavitje; kështu është dituria për njeriun që ka mend.

24 ¶ The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him, but God shall grant the desire of the righteous.

Të pabesit i ndodh ajo nga e cila trembet, por njerëzve të drejtë u jepet ajo që dëshirojnë.

25 W hen the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more, but the righteous is founded for ever.

Kur kalon furtuna, i pabesi nuk është më, por i drejti ka një themel të përjetshëm.

26 ¶ As vinegar to the teeth and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those that send him.

Ashtu si uthulla për dhëmbët dhe tymi për sytë, kështu është dembeli për ata që e dërgojnë.

27 ¶ The fear of the LORD shall prolong days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

Frika e Zotit i zgjat ditët, por vitet e të pabesit do të shkurtohen.

28 T he hope of the righteous is joy, but the hope of the wicked shall perish.

Shpresa e të drejtëve është gëzimi, por pritja e të pabesëve do të zhduket.

29 ¶ The way of the LORD is strength to the perfect, but it is terror to the workers of iniquity.

Rruga e Zotit është një kala për njeriun e ndershëm, por është shkatërrim për ata që kryejnë padrejtësi.

30 T he righteous eternally shall never be removed, but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

I drejti nuk do të lëvizet kurrë, por të pabesët nuk do të banojnë në tokë.

31 ¶ The mouth of the just shall bring forth wisdom, but the perverse tongue shall be cut out.

Goja e të drejtit prodhon dituri, por gjuha e çoroditur do të pritet.

32 T he lips of the righteous shall know the will of God, but the mouth of the wicked speaks perversion.

Buzët e të drejtit njohin atë që është e pranueshme; por goja e të pabesëve njeh vetëm gjëra të çoroditura.
